Love ❤️ it there. Been there 3 times trying 4 a 4th time. Best time to go is on April & September. The state of MAINE is absolutely breathtaking.🥰🤗👍☺️👋🙃
Great place to visit and nice trip, I leaving for there today. We are driving our RV. I was planning do do Beehive and Beech Cliff trails. This is a return trip for me so I have done Bar Island, Precipice and Cadilac before. Great work, thanks!
G'Day Alice. Mate I have only just found your channel at the Angels Landing video, where I subscribed and left a comment. Crikey your a busy lady and I must say I'm pretty impressed with the range of videos you've produced, all of which will make it much easier to select some of those beaut national parks and hiking trails you have over there. Much has changed since my 12 month Canada/USA camping, hitch hiking tour of1980. Today it appears from channels like yours things are so better organised since then but with a lot more people too. Most Americans would have a rifle hanging on their wall but you've got a boomerang. Ha, well maybe the scare factor of a young woman brandishing a Boomerang would put the wind up any would be thieves. I greatly enjoy your videos Alice with beaut commentaries on history, locations and local tourist faciities. 10 out 10 for effort and presentation. Keep up the great work mate.
Just got back, remember to wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water on trails. Also there is a free shuttle bus to many of the popular trailheads the departs from the visitors center, no parking worries
As always another great, scenic and informative video Alice! Thank you for your efforts and sharing your experience. You have a beautiful spirit and fun to watch.
My wife and I are planning our anniversary trip to Acadia this fall and knew if Alice had a video on Acadia it would be the most informative! Thanks Alice 😊
Driving distance to Acadia, for me, is about the same as central Colorado, western South Dakota, etc. Hard to not head west instead. This video is nudging me toward Acadia next time. If only I could find the time off work... Thanks, Alice. "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." ~ John Muir
I usually head west too, but this was a wonderful change of pace. The mountains aren’t as high but getting to see the ocean from the summits is pretty great.
I also recommend the Highbrook Motel in Bar Harbor. Cool, retro place but SUPER clean and when I went in 2020, was super convenient and thoughtful when it came to Covid. You get full breakfast that you choose ahead of time. Check in was remote, using lockboxes at each room. The only time I actually saw staff was when I needed a jump start the first morning. Unfortunately, that dead battery killed my only decent sunrise on Cadillac Mountain...
Thanks for sharing. I have been there a while ago while residing in nearby New Brunswick 🇨🇦 Day drive away from Canada. I have spent most of my time in Bar Harbour ME, hopping the bar scene and local restaurants 🍺 Beautiful area by the Atlantic ocean.
Thank you for another wonderful video. It looks like you had great fun with your family. So beautiful and relaxing 😌. Lighthouses are my favorite. Reminds me of Nova Scotia.
Acadia is a beautiful unique place. If you are into camping, staying at Blackwoods campground is very convenient for many of the most popular places and very easy to get into and out of Bar Harbor. The hike up to Cadillac mountain from there is not too bad and you can do it any time you like. If you start at the beehive like you did, you can take a much longer loop that includes Cadillac which is 15+ miles long and a lot of ups and downs, but great scenery. You can even jump into the ocean at the beach when you finish and believe me, you will find it very refreshing, but a pretty short lived swim due to the water temps. Great video of all of the neat things to do there.
Yes! The walk to Bar Island is very cool. Don't get too scared by all the warnings, high tide makes the bar under water, but most of the time it's passable. Lovely island to explore...also, the cliff walk around Bar Harbor is really nice.
I’ve spent all but 7 years of my life in New England. I’m 72 now and on year 5 in NC. 35 of those years were in Maine. I camped at Acadia only once and regretted never going back. I did spend dozens of days in Baxter State Park which is my favorite place. Would love to see you hike up Katahdin and perhaps cross over the knife edge.
While in Biddeford, Maine 3 years ago I stopped at a local brewery-pizzeria for dinner. The food was great, but they also had a Blueberry Hefeweizen beer that was phenomenal! Also, that water is cold, even in late summer. As for lodging, it's very nice to have family that live in the area...
When you walked into the lake... Oh, be still my heart;) In other news, you did a great job on this video. It was calming, relaxing and made me want to visit there soon. Looks beautiful!
Come to think of it, now that I'm in my 50's, I don't really need anything more than a lot of hiking. I like to ride and swim too but it not necessary anymore. Thanks for the video.
Haven't watched the whole video yet, but there is so many detailed excursions into the rocky wild pathways, that I must come back later to enjoy the rest of the fun trails you filmed. You made the beach there feel quite exotic!
My favorite memory of a family vacation is actually Acadia NP. My parents car broke down and they were stressed, but us kids were ecstatic because we got to play around on the mountain for an extra hour
Acadia is a beautiful place. I'm going to have to add it to the list for next year. Motels are crazy expensive, but I guess it's the price for having access to such an amazing location. Thank you for sharing this most excellent adventure and sharing some info about the area. Sounds like the sea food is a must. That lobster had my mouth watering and I can never pass up a good crab cake.
Thank you for doing a great job showing off my home state! Another thought is Wild River Wilderness and the White Mountain National Forest the boarder between NH/Maine is gorgeous or the Grafton Loop Mahoosuc Notch area. Also, camping. Hotels and Motels are expensive. There are free camping sites in Maine :)
An enjoyable taste of one of the most beautiful places in America. I've been there a few times, but learned some things! Obviously it would have been nice to have a bit more "show" than "tell" in the descriptions of the last 10 minutes, but I know you had time constraints with the family, etc. ;-) Did you mention that fall is a time when the summertime crowds (Bar Harbor tends to be packed in August.) disappear and lodging prices drop a bit? Vacation rental sites like VRBO can also offer some good deals for those planning on staying for a few days.
Alice, Acadia is so beautiful. I've flown over Maine travelling from my home in Ireland to Boston but never got that far north. i always look forward to your next video.
I'm heading out to Acadia next weekend! I've been wanting to do this trip for a while. Your video was so insightful and helpful! I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks Alice!🙂
Acadia rocks! If you like Acadia, check out Isle Royale National Park in the NW corner of Lake Superior. Similar landscape (lower peaks), but much less busy and wild. Many moose!
Wow this place has some beautiful but rugged landscape and awesome scenery a lot of cliff hangers there,s a huge difference from our hiking trails here in costal N.C.
Thanks for the Info! Lord willing Ill be there in less than 2 weeks. Ive been "Thousand Trail" hopping from Virginia for the past couple of weeks and where you are is where Ill be at for a little while! I'm sure it will be over run with PPL so "off hour" visits to the Park will be planned as much as possible! I have a fear of heights thing going on so ill be careful at which hikes to NOT take, lol. Ive dreamed of this Place(Rocky cliffs with crashing ocean waves type of scenes) most of my adult life. About the time I fell in Love with Photography! So Ill be wearing out my computer checking out places to visit. Thanks again for the Info, this was the Perfect post for me....
I’m so glad to hear that Alex. If you get the chance get out to Booth Bay Maine, Pemaquid lighthouse and the tiny town of Lubek near the Canadian border too. Beautiful photo ops there
Killer video! Definitely on my bucket list (every park is) but my parents just went there. They said the Travelin’ Lobster in Bar Harbor was a must. Thanks for sharing!
This video made me miss Acadia so much! Did you happen to do Bubble Rock while you were hiking as well? I thought it was near beehive, it’s been like five years since I’ve been there but I am heading to Portland and Kennebunkport soon so I’ll get a taste of Maine soon enough 🤣
@@AliceFordAdventures It was so, so hot. In the 90s and I ran out of water way too soon. I had the added challenge of flipping my bike and breaking my wrist on the approach road for 4X4s. I was determined to soldier on and pictures don't do justice to the scope and majesty of it.
Just found your channel and subbed!👍 We have been talking about going to Acadia NP for years, and now have new found motivation. Fun video. Where in NH did you grow up? I grew up near Hampton Beach, and try get back every summer. Been in California now 35 plus years. Great channel, nice job!👍

Hi Alice, that was a great video! That place was a really beautiful. The sightseeing were incredible and the sandy bay/ beach really did it for me. Glad you got to spend some time with the family and seeing you like a lot more recovered. Was the water cold? Thanks again for making such great content. On a separate note, how was Alaska? Take care!
Our country has done a really good job of selecting it's national parks have never been to one that disappoints would recommend people to check them out whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Kind of embarrassed to admit that as a lifelong New Englander(MA), I had never been to Acadia until Oct 2020. For all the people I knew who had gone, I was a bit upset that they didn't talk it up more. Acadia is just stunning and interesting in so many ways. If you go offseason(at least in 2020), you didn't need a reservation to go up Cadillac.
@@AliceFordAdventures The worst part about it is I'm pretty experienced with the Maine coast. Grew up going to York Beach every year. Have friends that live in Rockport, have been up and down the coast for work and have driven the entirety of Rte 1 from Calais all the way down. Just never did Acadia. I've even been to the top of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge observatory. Very cool.
Thanks for fixing the camera. No more super wide face when you sit in front of it

Sis seems camera shy. I could climb that beehive with one arm ride behind my back. Another great vid, Alice
Top of Cadillac mtn. One of my favorite all time hikes. Bar harbor is a peaceful small town
Did 2 summers of internships there. Brings back lots of memories. No such things as reservations needed anywhere back then. How things have changed.
U picked a good day for it. 👀🏞️🐊
