    Fun fact: Rublev was furious for about 70% of the match and got none code violations. It's really sad to see Rublev like this. The guy has one of the best personalities off the court but on the court, he is missing like 5-8% to really push through and win frequently against let's say, the top 5. He works so hard for good results only to be beaten by one of the top 5 players. If he could clear the cloud and "demons" in his head, he would be a much bigger threat. Right now, he is literally the QF-man, reminds me a bit of Berdych, he was the "punching bag" for the big 3-4 in slams but at least Berdych has some SF's and a final... Hopefully Rublev can turn it around in 2024.

If Alcaraz had turned up yesterday the way he has been playing since USO, Rublev could easily have beaten him. He was bang on target in the first 4 games then it seems like he flicked a switch and became so nervous that he couldn't return balls. It's like he suddenly became afraid of a guy 5 years his junior.

    @patrikmarflak6559 Год назад +119

    The second set was brutal, poor Rublev! Carlos was playing so much better than in the first match. Almost untouchable on serve (over 50% of his first serves were unreturned, did he ever have so many free points?), made plenty of winners and hardly any errors. They say every match is different and it's right. This was very important for his confidence, can't wait for Alcaraz vs. Medvedev, it's going to be a real battle and if Carlos repeats this performance, Medvedev will have to play his 110% again to beat him.

      His serve and return were actually very solid against Zverev, it was just his baseline play that was a problem. We all knew that would improve. And honestly, people were seriously overreacting. Alcaraz lost to a 2-time former champ who has beaten Djokovic twice here

    • @patrikmarflak6559
      @patrikmarflak6559 Год назад +4

      @@colethomas903 It is and of course it depends on the returner as well. Medvedev is going to make him play much more on his serve, but the good thing is he is getting used to these conditions. I expected a closer match today, but it seems like something clicked and he is starting to like this court. Rublev wasn't even bad according to statistics, he also had pretty high percentage of first serves made, made more winners than errors. But he was totally destroyed in the last three games, 12 points in a row went like if Alcaraz was a monster of indoor hard court tennis. Maybe he will be one day.

    At last Carlos appeared to be somewhat close to his best. I think this version of Carlos will be difficult to deal with for anyone regardless of court speed. Zvarev , Hurkacz , Medvedev and all the big servers would like these fast indoor courts where they don't have to worry about wind. However, this seems to help Carlos as well as he has close to 50% unreturned serves .

  • @smrichman1255
    @smrichman1255 Год назад

    ublev needs to understand one thing. Not how to beat Alcaraz. Not how to beat Medvedev. Those are tactical and performance-based solutons that only last as long as the next win. The next tournament. What Rublev should be told is that when he kisses the cross during a match he is reaching out for higher grounding. Higher guidance. To Rublev this is his personal moment. To realize that winning in and of itself does not determine his worth or his purpose in life. Chasing wins is like chasing death. It never stops. There is always another win to get. Rublev to be happy needs to see tennis as a way to express his enjoyment of movement. His inner connection to life. He is privileged just to be on the tennis court. He is a top 10 player. He is blessed. As Paul McCartney once said, "When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me. Speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness, She is standing right in front of me. Speaking words of wisdom, let it be." That is all Rublev needs to know. In that moment on the tennnis court, in his own private realization, he will calm down. And see his true blessing.
