    Good vid mate. I can highly recommend gumption to use on glass tempered glass with lots of concrete or render on. Also using a pump sprayer to prewet and soak the glass and frames helps with construction cleans that have a lot of “builders art” on them.

    Great video. A lot of good advice. In the UK our homes tend to be built out of brick, blocks or rendered so have a lot of mortar or concrete on them which can be a real scratch hazard

    Lot of good information here. From abrasives, to ladder placement, and about the dreaded construction clean up.
    What was your worst construction clean up? This one frankly seemed "easier"

      Chris Simmons this one wasn’t bad at all, worst one was during the winter and it took 3 days, had to use wheel barrels at the bottom of my ladder to stop it from moving and every window had a ton of silicone...I’ll never forget it

    I’ve been a window cleaner for many years I think at least 15 years and I always use water with dish soap you get a razor blade with a scraper you use the steel wool apply everything the window in the water or the water in the soap to the window, scrape it go throughshit again and then squeegee it. That’s the best way to do the windows.

    I used to not like construction cleans, but as I've learned about the various types of glass and products available, I've grown fond of them. I like to try to work in the sun as much as is possible on em, because everything shows up clearly. I'm gonna try the magic eraser. I usually use acetone (brake parts cleaner) on a cotton cloth to remove silicone. Another handy thing is Bioclean. It removes hardware mineral deposits, paint, glue, just about anything from the glass without damaging the surface. Great for that tempered glass side with the silica specs embedded on the surface. Have you noticed that tempered glass is usually smooth on one side?

    • @SteveOthewindowcleaner

      Scott W. Yes I have noticed that. I’m going to look into bioclean...thanks for the tip

    • @lawrenceshdow
      @lawrenceshdow 4 года назад

      Yes. Tempered glass should be smooth on both sides. Ideally. But when the heated glass rolls over the rollers any dust or anything permeates the surface. I notice lots of shitty glass at my builders. Also why I've upped my price on French doors and stuff by about 5x. Amazingly; these builders so far haven't questioned it. I'm sure some cheapskate will get pissed at some point though.

    • @myotheraccount5947
      @myotheraccount5947 4 года назад

      @@lawrenceshdow Not many people know why the tempered glass is like that. You are correct. It's lack of maintaining a clean facility in the glass factories. Silica dust and specs sticking to the rollers. I have found that they usually don't take a lot more time to clean than smooth glass, but 5x??? If they'll pay it, I guess 🤯

      I am cleaning construction windows for 30 years in Kanada.Here are some TIPS.
      1-Check the windows,frames ,tracks etc. ,if there is any mortar,brick or other damage before estimating.
      2-Check if all construction work completed like painting etc.
      3-You are there to clean the windows once only.
      If any tradesman makes a mess on cleaned windows ,you charge extra to clean again.
      4-If you are cleaning supermarket or big box stores,you should start cleaning before FLOOR waded and displays set up.If you need to use zoom boom or aerial lift be careful about ,damaging floor finish .
      5-Do not take any scratch responsibilities on windows.for any damage on contracts.

    super fine sandpaper effect

      New construction where I am is 10 lower level; 15 second story and up for exterior. Inside is 7 to 10 per pane including frames.
      So a construction lower level in and out would be about 20 dollars. Now; some builders will never pay that. But the luxury home builders usually are more concerned that you are easy to work with and somewhat flexible with schedules.
      This is just my experience in Minnesota. Im sure its way different certain places.
