*OMG, these guys GET IT! Their's is the FIRST really accurate summation of the lyrics of this song!* And I've listened to many dozens so far. This song was first produced by Simon & Garfunkel on a GOSPEL Folk album called "Wednesday Morning 3AM" in 1964. They actually perceived God/Jesus in this song, as it was originally intended. It represents the human condition that has existed since the dawn of man, which is what makes this song so timeless. The consequences of walking away from God, the flock loses its Shepard and drifts apart. The flock loses the ability to connect emotionally on a deeper level, and therefore lose their ability to love one another. But the warning goes far beyond this.
KUDOS to the best analysis of this song EVER!
*Hear my words that I might teach you, take my arms that I might reach you …*
“Jerusalem, O Jerusalem! How I have longed to gather your children into my arms as a mother hen gathers her chicks! But you would not.” *And Jesus wept.*
*And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made!*
And they worshipped the golden calf. Random false idols and gods of our own making.
*The sign flashed out its warning, in “the words that it was forming” … the “words of the prophets written on the subway walls, and tenement halls”* *…*
And just what were the words that supernaturally formed on the wall in the book of Daniel? They told the king that he had been JUDGED and found wanting. His kingdom is taken from him. By the next morning, the king is dead and Babylon has fallen. Just like that.
How often is New York City likened to a modern-day Babylon?
How long will we be silent?
How long will we ignore the warnings?
Best and most profound analysis on the internet so far. I grew up in the 60s and 70s, right next to New York City. I have the original album still. GREAT JOB!
Thank you!!
This beautiful woman weeping was the best reaction I've ever seen
Amen

@@randyjohnson805 i can
If I didn't already know the song it would have made me cry, but Disturbed's version does give me chills every time I hear it
Sori's reaction actually brought tears to MY eyes. Epic song, amazing woman.
I am a 70 year old Great Grandmother, had never heard of Disturbed, I have watched at least 11 reviewers just this afternoon of this song. Each and every time I hear it I get goose bump and tear up. There is something in the way they have done this song that is so very touching. I decided to listen to more of thier music because of the choices in songs.
I'm 78 grandmother and I've been listening and watching this for the last few days and I get chills, goosebumps, forget to breathe. People say Simon and Garfunkel sent a message but Disturbed is yelling because nobody listened. WOW They are now.
I find it confusing because there are different ways to interpret the song,I don't know what to think, but it's one of those numbers that just grab you,the music alone is fantastic, maybe we should ask the singer what it's all about,it reminds me a bit of Tubular Bells back in the day, just grabbed you, well done
Me too. I’m 72 and knew this in the 60 s. This puts tears in my eyes it’s so true.
@@JeannetteMacintyre If you listen to Wednesday Morning 3AM, and the songs like Bleeker Street and Sounds of Silence on THAT album, it gives you context for the song. The album was a flat out GOSPEL Folk album. And the message is Biblical. Simon & Garfunkel are not especially religious, at least not after that album. But you can see the roots of their lyrics, and where they are drawn from. .
Bleeker Street is like the prelude to Sound of Silence. The same message of people no longer able to communicate and connect on a deeper, emotional level. But at the end of Bleeker Street, there is still hope. A "church bell softly chimes in a melody sustaining ..." It may be a "long road to Canaan" but there is still hope.
At the end of Sound of Silence, there is no message of hope. It's JUDGEMENT DAY. It's much darker and sadder.
The Sound of Silence is ultimately about the human condition, which hasn't changed since the dawn of man. This is what makes this song timeless.
Hear my words that I might teach you, take my arms that I might reach you …

David Draiman is Jewish both of his grandparents on his mother’s side was prisoners in the Natzi war camps and their entire family were killed. He was classical trained as a cantor, he spent a great deal of his childhood in Israel a cantor is someone who leads Jewish congregations in prayer and He led High Holy Holiday services in his early teens, but eventually left. He even considered becoming a rabbi for a time. His great-grandfather was the head cantor of a large synagogue in Jerusalem. His grandfather was also a Cantor. Their version of this song really speaks to me I’ve listened to it hundreds of times and it still makes me cry. David later went back to Israel after the attack on Israel 10-7-23 and while in Israel he sung this song with a Tel Aviv-based choir and prayed at the Western Wall. He is very outspoken regarding the Jewish people and Israel. His brother as well his grandmother who passed away recently lives there and he has many more family members who lives in Israel
Jesus Christ, Sori's reaction to this song is exactly what the Internet was made for. No words needed, just tears. That's how you know a song can move you.

That fact that she doesn’t even watch the whole video and just his voice can cause that type of beautiful reaction is powerful.
I cry every time I hear it. Im 81 and without a doubt it’s the most beautiful, moving song I’ve ever heard. I love the lady’s interpretation. I play it over and over.
Yes! Knowing what the song is "really" about is timeless - TV then, cell phones now... nobody communicates, but her interpretation brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful...

Me too! Age 66 here.
She FELT that song! That's when you know it's an amazing song
I'm not sure how anyone could NOT feel that song, lol. It's amazing and gives me goosebumps and chills! My mother-in-law played that song a lot when my husband was a boy and when I showed him Disturb's version of the song, he immediately loved it as well. It's amazing and wonderful and DEEP!
I had the same reaction she did. Seeing her react that way made me go again lol. Great reaction.
It's amazing how Disturbed remade this song I grew up on and the passion they put in blew Simon and Garfunkel version away.... Best reaction I've ever seen she gets into music like alot of us do she had me in happy tears 😊💯
Outstanding review bravo 👏👏👏
This singer David, was raised Orthodox Jew. He was trained in classical singing. I believe the original song by S&G had a totally different meaning but it definitely is timeless. It can mean whatever you want it too. I have listened to every one on utube that has listened to this version and they all had a similar reaction as you guys. It does make you stop and think! One comment about you both. I hear you know the Bible but speak with some filthy words. Children may be watching and God knows all. Just sayin ✌️
This song will hit you hard when the at most down time you have in life.
There is something ineffably beautiful about watching someone moved to tears by art.
Thank you, Sori.
Aww ur welcome❤️-Sori✌🏻
Its why I think reaction videos are so popular. We want to see the humanity in other people.
Indeed! Genuine emotion is powerful. I was cool until 4:18, and then between the song and the strong reaction to it, yep, got me too. Thanks for posting this.
Agree Devil Dog
OOOOrrrrah... bro.
As a man who lives with bipolar and schizophrenia, it is a song that I put on when I start to lose the battles with my hallucinations or depression side of things. Sometimes both. It took me years to do it, but I found the strength to open up about my illnesses and I no longer hide them. It has cost me friends, because I refused to put up a poker face and play happy, but it has also kept me safe from myself. As I told someone else... it took me breaking the sound of silence and getting help that saved my life. When someone lives with depression in silence... they will die and it likely will be by their own hand.
#speakupforlee
May God be with us all.
love this response and love to you.
I know this response is a bit late but as a person who suffered suicidal depression for many years - and ultimately should never have survived the time I actually acted on it - I love seeing/reading/hearing about people who have battled through depression and manage to come out the other side.
Best of luck to you and it might not mean much but a complete stranger like myself is very proud of you for getting yourself better.
It means the same to me
God bless you ! I wish the best for you ! My daughter is a fellow sufferer!
One of the most beautifully honest reactions to this song I've EVER seen.
you're right buddy)
They are beautiful people.
How this gentleman just sits and respectfully listens to the ladies raw and vulnerable reaction was a thing of beauty to watch
I thought the same he's a good man with respect for her..
True story. Propers to this man. He gave her her space. If they're together, which really doesn't matter, but if they are, that's awesome. That's actually kind of exactly what the song is about. He's listening to what she has to say.
INORITE!?!
He sits there and stared off to the window or wall because he's already seen this 5 times. What's with that video? Kist stills? No wonder he found it boring. The real video to this production is flat out amazing.
Yeah. I can sense that like my husband, he might not fully understand why she is crying, much like my own husband, but he is willing to listen to why, just like my husband. I’ve seen one piece of entertainment make my husband cry. It was Sons of Anarchy, when one of the bikers died. He isn’t a cryer, but he had lost an old biker buddy right before that. He feels things deeply but expressed it differently. I get that Vin is much the same way. He sits like a stoic and thinks through his emotions, and puts them to words, but he always wants Sori to go first.
Holy shit, she went to a very special place in her heart and mind thru this song. Art should move you this way. Nothing to be ashamed of. Its beautiful to see someone come to tears over an amazing talent.
It happens to me every time I listen to the scorpions " still loving you" that's exactly my state of mind pretty much

Her's is the most pure reaction one can have to a song like this. It's a testament to David Draiman's voice. I'm a full grown man and when that song reaches apex I feel my chest grow tight, my skin prickle, and my vision waters. It really is a masterpiece of a cover of an already beautiful song.

@@BostonGemmieRocks you're exactly right! When they stop the video to discuss something they're not listening. And just like an everyday life we as people do it all the time to others and it's done to us . We have to stop the voices in our mind when people are you talking to us. This is how we can relate by listening. So the words of Silence is so true now as it was back in the 60s. Cuz back then like myself tune out and lost out.
the video can be taken down if they play it whole cause of copyright issues, alteast that's what I've heard.
David “the lead singer” said they covered this song from a perspective of anger at people for failing to heed the warning of the original song, that no one communicated with each other anymore, all they did was watch TV “the neon god”.. and instead of starting to communicate all we have done is replace tv with cell phones... he also said this was the hardest song he had ever sang... he is a classically trained opera singer, which sounds crazy for a metal singer haha... this was one of my fav songs as a kid in the 70s.. this and behind blue eyes by the who
He was trained as a cantor, not in opera. Cantors lead services and sing service music, and they may seem indistinguishable from a cantorial soloist, who may also do those things. Both may have very good singing voices, and both may have had extensive musical training.
The cantor, however, has something extra: a deep background in Jewish worship and Hebrew language, knowledge of both present and past liturgies, and training in leading and teaching a wide variety of Jewish musical forms. A cantor is clergy, qualified to officiate at all lifecycle events (weddings, funerals, namings) and to provide pastoral support.
You mean Behind Blue Eyes by Limp Bizkit. Haha jk

First the voice grabs you. Then the lyrics. Then the orchestration. Then the incredible build-up to the climax, and then the final quiet words, and you sit there in awe. What a masterpiece.
Wow... you hit the nail! So true.
I had the opportunity of seeing Disturbed live last month in Pennsylvania.
I didn't have any idea of the setlist, so when they played this short set of songs for suicide awareness, and this song came out I was frozen.
I couldn't see or hear anything else but David's powerful voice. Imagine a bunch of metalheads, with their cellphones or lighters raised, people crying, singing this song at one voice. It was something I will never forget.

Right at that moment this song became the best cover of a classic song I've ever heard.

Couldnt take my eyes off of Sori from the moment she started to struggle with emotions and the tears streaming down her face is just beautiful. Probably most of us got that same kind of feeling the first time hearing this song, and the 100th time aswell really.
I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! 63 yr. old man and I sob like a baby!!! If you haven't heard it you should see the live in Houston version with vocal guest Myles Kennedy! If you are unfamiliar, he is just as powerful a singer as Draiman!! PERFECT harmony!!!
David and Disturbed own this song - this cover is the best ever. I tear up each time I hear it and am moved head to toe. It is truly like a religious experience to hear David's magnificent voice and interpretation.
The first time I heard him sing this song, it chilled me to the core of my being, that a hard rock/heavy metal artist could take a 1960s folk song and make it his own is absolutely fantastic, his power, his passion, his intensity, his incredible range, his ability to make you feel the music, he is a musical genius, pure and simple.
Garfunkel once summed up the song's meaning as "the inability of people to communicate with each other, not particularly internationally but especially emotionally, so what you see around you are people unable to love each other.
Showed my father in law this. He saw Simon and Garfunkel sing this live and this blew him away! He plays it at every family get together now
When he sang the verse "Like silent raindrops fell" as a tear streamed down Sori's cheek.........WOW! That Broke me Bro!
I really like this song by Simon & Garfunkel, but this version is a masterpiece
I think the song was appropriate for both eras.
The video is pretty good to go along with this version. His building of the tension and his visceral emotion is amazing. Really did the original justice.
@@MickSkitz -Yeah, I totally agree with you. I never really got the Simon and Garfunkel version. Their version is much lighter than the lyrics imply. I like their version but this version is EPIC. I love the vulnerability at the beginning and the anger near the end. Great song and great version of the song.
@robert tidwell Oh you mean this version that got endorsed by Paul Simon himself? You mean that one? God it must suck to be you...
It certainly is a masterpiece....I'm 75 and have never been brought to tears like when I listen to this incredible gentleman...
And I have heard this song hundreds of times performed by Simon and Garfunkel. But as a 50 yrs old man I shed a tear every time I hear this version. It's that powerful and deep song and Disturbed version
really emphasizes the meaning of the lyrics and message behind it.
We have built a gigantic, neon idol to ourselves. We don't really notice that other people exist anymore, we have built a massive cult of consumerism without realizing that we are losing our humanity.
When it says the people bowed and prayed to the neon God they made, I think of a billion people bowed staring at their phones... you're welcome.

When the song was originally written... Simon had a dream, where he saw People bowing and praying to a neon god, which he explained in the lyrics and he wrote the song to warn against it's coming...

Sori, what a beautiful soul.
I think this is one of my most favorite responses to a video I've watched. David's vocals didn't just speak the lyrics, kind of like how the original did... he emoted them. He made you feel each word and the way it built up to the final notes... he took a good song right to GOD level.
original is by simon and garfunkel. after hearing this cover, the writer (paul simon) contacted david draiman and told him how much he enjoyed the cover.
Simon & Garfunkel are the original artits. Paul Simon wrote it in 1964. He said in an interview that the song is about peoples inability to communicate with each other, not internationally but on an emotional level a d so all around us we see people who are unable to love each other."
He wrote it in 62 when he was 21. That quote is Garfunkels.
And it`s still going on to Day, maybe even more so
It's what makes this version more poignant to me, Simon and Garfunkel gave us a soulful warning but we ignored it - so Disturbed force us to listen to the message so we cannot ignore it any longer. It's a powerful 1-2 punch and I think that's why it's so emotional and effective.
Superb cover, superb reaction.
the death of jfk had a hand in inspiring its creation if i remember correctly.
and part of what turned me hermit, is the inability of people to communicate, i dont count unclear, suspect "Communication" as it is easily missed or mistaken, i tired of being treated like shite because, im not a mind reader, and wont just go along to get along, when people are being idiots.... reguardless of what "Side" they are on or "tribe" they are part of... bah....
Chris Ormie For me, the Disturbed Cover is the most Boring Song i know.
At the end when they sat in the STUNNED SILENCE...i feel ya

Perfectly timed in that it wasn't...but I get you! It's stunning to watch.

People hearing without listening= Watching TV/You Tube etc.
Sori, crying is EXACTLY what the emotion was MEANT TO EMOTE.
I love how you guys get it....thank you for taking the time to feel a 50 year old message that has BEEN IGNORED
Paul Simon was a VISIONARY that saw the future where modern day being a problem with being SILENT to others instead of gathering and enjoying others company and creating greater bonds between people.
There was no texting when this song was written though. About 40 years too early. But the wheels were in motion then with advancing technology and entertainment ruling people's lives.
Wrong song was wrote iij n early 60s long before texting
@@johnthorne4368 Paul Simon had a dream, and the song is a warning. It is literally in the lyrics of the song. So the year it was writtwn is not important. The message is timeless, but imagine it being so much truer now than ever. Which makes this persons comment more valid than ever.

Jason I agree. I don't even care for their music it's not my taste in music but I know they are an iconic duo.
Yeah it's pretty weird. Odd lack of music vocabulary.
Might as well ask why I don't know the songs my parents listened to and why they didn't know the songs of their parents did. People have a bad tendency to dismiss or ignore what is already there. Unfortunately a lot of people have the attitude that anything that is not new is "old hat".
Jerry D I'm the opposite. I've always had an interest in what music my parents like even if I don't care for it. To me learning old hat is knowing history.
This is the nearest interpretation to Paul Simons analogy when he originally wrote it. David Draimans version brought this up to date and brought more urgency needed in human reaction. I cry every time I watch or listen to it. Loved your reaction.
It's 2020 and I'm just now seeing this reaction. First, I love both of your reactions and what each of you took from the song. That was incredible and I believe this song can mean so many different things to different people.
When Paul Simon wrote this song he was actually in a dark bathroom. "Hello darkness my old friend " there was light coming from a streetlamp outside. He stated is was the best contrast of light and dark to write.
He said the meaning of the song is about communication or lack there of. You both hit on that part. And you are absolutely right on the neon God was about technology replacing communication. Neon lights had already been out for 40 plus years when the song was written but it was still an incredible attention getter. The sign flashing out its warning about the words of the prophets was in reference to there being knowledge and information all around you and you need to know where to look but with technology you won't see it when it's right in front of you. The original was definitely a warning to us all that technology would lead to us not communicating or truly being able to love each other. And we need to not get wrapped up in the technology. And look where we ate today.
People say Disturbeds version is anger because we didn't heed the warning.
It very well could be like their saying see it's going on right now
I was around when the original was released and it had the same effect; Disturbed version is just as relevant and powerful. Absolutely awesome. Wow.
I think S&G version is more sad and this one is just haunting. I get chills every time I hear this song. 🐧🐧
Peggy Penguin Yup, S&G version was sad- back then there seemed to be more time for reflection. The Disturbed version’s power is in its raw nature; the video’s monochromatic styling was spot on. Chills? I’ve had a few too...
groundzeroken, me too. As an old hippy now, the original was soft and gentle reflecting those times of calling for peace and unity. This version equally reflects these times we live in. Outstanding.
I have taken both versions like this:
Simon and Garfunkel:. This is a warning of what we are becoming
Disturbed:. This is grieving what we have become.
@@peggypenguin7290 thats what David's voice does :3 his voice rainbow is amazing
I love how deeply Sori feels the music. I often get emotional listening to music of any kind. It can be so powerful.
Yes I feel some stuff sooo deeply! -Sori
Me too. I cry every single time I listen to this song, no matter how happy I am at the moment.
VinAnd Sori you NEED to listen to so far away and seize the day by avenged sevenfold, you will cry
Oh nevermind you did so far away
My personal experience is you don't listen to this song you EXPERIENCE this song.. It reaches down to your inner being!! ❤️ So freaking amazing!! 💖
One of the brilliant things about this song is the duality of the two main themes. Both light and sound are shown in two ways. There's the light of the neon god, the grand distraction, versus the natural light that actually reveals the truth. There's the silence that arises from the screaming of the gears of our ephemeral empires, against the true silence where introspection can arise. The abject social isolation, the dehumanization of the technological, is clearly stated here, and has only grown more poignant as we go further down the road in the direction of the neon god. Solid 10. The great songs echo down the years, because they talk about experiences that will always be part of being human.
Patrick Tracy. Thank you for such an eloquent and accurate explanation.
@ Patrick Tracy "There's the light of the neon god, the grand distraction, versus the natural light that actually reveals the truth."
I like how you said that. That's exactly how I felt about that line.
And the DISTURBED versions video has instruments on an "ARK". And writing music script on old parchment with Ink pen. Could that be the concept that the Art of musicianship is becoming rare?
I find this song as a warning. Nuclear war was a real threat back in the 60s.
So well said, Mr. Tracy. Very perceptive view.
I get goosebumps every time I hear this, and I’ve heard it a lot.
I've spent the weekend watching and listening to this song and all the reactions. I cry every time. David's voice is epic. The band's version of this song is epic!
Try the Live in Houston version with Myles Kennedy as guest vocalist!!! The harmonies will BLOWW YOU AWAY!!!!
@@berniegiacobe7534 That was beautiful. I can't believe that could get any more powerful, but together they were amazing. Thank you for recommending it!
@@michelecalla928 Those notes that Myles hits just blow me away!!! I'm being repetitive but I'm in AWE!!!!!!!
I LOVE your reaction to this song! The emotions, the deep thoughts you shared, the exchange with each other...all of it. Fantastic reaction! Thank you, and keep it up. ♡
They hear but they don’t listen means that they don’t think for themselves anymore. In social media, the masses just react to whatever somebody posts without actually thinking or researching for themselves being led around without realizing the danger of it.
I love this. Refreshing to see a reaction video where the people listen to the song and instead of muttering over it like self obsessed narcissists. Awesome video.
Vin, I loved how you saw in this, “God’s words” 💓
Sari, I appreciated your thoughts (sorry for your pain)😢
I too hear and listen... and have yet my own interpretation.
It truly is an individual experience.
That’s the beauty of a great song, and an incredible singer! 😇
Simon and Garfunkel 👍🏻 👍🏻
“disturbed” ....I think they brought this to a whole new level of intensity and greatness!😊
Sori was feeling the music, Vin was analyzing the message. Awesome reaction.
This lady was captured by the power early on in the song and let if speak through her. Thank the gods she didn't shut it down, but allowed us to share with it. THE most genuine reaction I have seen to any reaction video by anyone. Thank you dear lady for allowing us to share in your humanity. You did get it. Words separate us from each other, sometimes words get in the way of our shared experience. No need to over analyze and retreat to the head. Listen to the heart and soul...they know TRUTH. Peace from an old Australian.
Beautiful. You got it!
If there are ever awards for reactions, you would have my vote. I could see the exact moment the song touched, no grabbed, your soul. Thank you for such a touching reaction!
Sori, you stole my heart when tears flow from your face! At first, i didn't like this cover but after listening to it multiple times I came around to it. Now, I wish I could share tears like you every time I hear it.
Awww thx I’m glad it was good for u.❤️-Sori
Ive watched many react to this video and various takes on its meaning but yours by far was i thought was the best and most well expressed. I am a child of the 60s and remember the original well and the profound meaniing then and how it is even more prophetic now.
Wow.. loved the sincere reaction from Sori! This is how a reaction video should be like! No talking during the song and pausing it. Write down your thoughts (keywords) and tell them after, if you dont remember. Good job guys!
This song was written in the 70s. He was predicting how life world would be for us. We speak on our phones (not speaking ) nobody to listen ( no reaction) songs not being heard they’re on our phones. The neon god we made Technology the most important thing our lives. Here we are in 2022 !!!
When Paul Simon heard this version he told David this was now his song
Written in 1964!!!
She said it beautifully we all have our own story. Her reaction made me cry.
"…we have people unable to touch other people, unable to love other people.
This is a song about the inability to communicate."
-Paul Simon
I would have liked to hear this with Lzzy Hale in a harmony situation. He's worked with her in the past, and they sound amazing together. Also, the original conveyed the same message without being heavy-handed, BUT! Paul Simon himself actually liked the cover, so I'll default to the author's opinion on the matter.
S Toy From a atheist perspective or a religious perspective or neither?
David Heller in general
From a Paul Simon perspective - his quote.
S Toy My take is that the original was a polite warning about the detached direction humanity seemed to be taking, whereas Disturbed version is angry that nobody heeded this 50 year old warning, hence the more heavy handed nature of it.
That's just my interpretation, though.
So in another 50 years it'll be remade by the descendants of A.C? :)
I can't believe it took me this long to find you guys! Your reactions were so pure and heartfelt, that I cried along with you, though, if I'm being honest, with a song this amazing, who couldn't? So thank you!, for sharing, and being the amazing people you are, and letting us experience such a powerful experience with you.
On a huge side note, I thought you should know, if you watch your video at 4:32 (or just watch the original song or check the lyrics) that Disturbed snuck their band name and song title into the lyrics themselves as a small easter egg for people to catch! ".. and noone dared 'Disturbed the sound of silence' " :)
that was an interesting perspective. THe sounds of silence being people not speaking up or talking about what actually matters, our lack of ability to communicate and listen to one another. Truth, pain and suffering are swept under the rug, and even when the rug is lifted, people do not care or speak on it as to not rock the boat or disturb the silence.
First time I heard this song, I can only describe it as one if those moments where you realise you're witnessing something important. Or like... You're witnessing part of the "something bigger" that gives our lifes significance. Something you're otherwise too distracted to notice 98% of the time.
They both really GOT IT‼️🙏🏼♥️🌏🌺
You Both got it!! And the breakdown you both give, is the message....great job
Seeing Sori‘s tears says all. I am crying, too!!❤️❤️❤️
Whenever Sori's eyes close, it's over. Done. "Destruction" achievement...unlocked.
3:37...I needed the timestamp =,)
the most powerful song (version of a song) i've ever heard. the original was good. this is GREAT. The most moving song i've ever heard, due to who's singing it.
and your guys' reaction makes this even more powerful. your tears brought tears to my eyes lol. crazy how that works ;-) this song digs so deep, but your reactions makes it even deeper. great video. thank you.
Holy shit her description was just simply EPIC
I can listen to this song over and over. I still cry. The song is about our lives being lost to the beginning of the media. Paul Simon had this dream back in the 60s. The neon light represents the introduction of television. The musicians were no longer able to Express their feelings without being censored. Us as a world must take a stand to be able to Express how we feel without the media interference.
They played it on a veterans day, it broke my heart see a lot of them with tears in their eyes at the end of this Song....the horror they must seen in their past...
@love layne stfu
Sori, that was the most beautiful reaction! The power of the lyrics and the power of his voice and the performance really hits you in the heart! This is what every artist on the planet wants to relay to the the audience, power and feeling! An emotion!❤️
"Heavy Metal Singers Can't Sing," they said... David Draiman: "Here, hold my WHA_AH_AH_AH!!!"
Ohhh yeah. He blew that notion out of the water with this song.
After watching hundreds of reaction videos most people who tear up or cry are men, is so refreshing to see a Lady cry to it.
There's something special about his voice which just brings out the emotions. Obviously the lyrics and music has a very important part but omg his voice just does it to so many it's unbelievable.
When he say no one dares disturbed the sound of silence. I thought he was talking about how people don't like to rock the boat with social norms, so they rather follow the crowd then be looked at as different or an outcast. The truth isn't relevant when the lie is more comfortable.
Yes they're called SHEEPLE NOWADAYS!!! THEY PRAY TO THE NEON GOD THEY MADE !!!
Paul Simon saw the band performing this song on Conan. (You should check it out). He loved it! He was so touched by David’s performance that he reached out to him to express his appreciation. I’m not sure if others have posted this, but David has vocal training in opera. As Suri said, his voice is phenomenal!
I cried too when I first listened ..Make sure to watch the live performance...It is epic...Loved your reaction....This song is really deep.
It gets me everytime I hear it.
Her face blushing tells raw emotion..I get goosebumps everytime I hear this and feel a great empathy from all the reactions of this song.
THIS IS how you listen to music. Best reaction video I've watched. Refreshing to see someone who can feel the song and not talk and " give advice" like all these " vocal coaches".
You're the first person I've seen mention those guys. "Vocal coach gives advice to Nightwish as they play in front of 85,000 people" shit cracks me up. Yeah, bro, Floor and Tarja have better range, technique and skill than you, you're not contributing anything by talking and trying (and typically failing) to harmonize with them.
Reaction video rant over.
Edit for the sake of not being endlessly negative: I dig these guys, not enough reactors actually say anything of substance, just make faces and sign off once the song is over. I disagree with some of what they say but it's dope that they say it either way.
It's not entirely like that.... If you're a professional in any field you tend to look at stuff in your field a bit differently. I find it interesting to see what they pay attention to... that being said you're right, giving advice to pros from your own couch is lame...
The depth and meaning of this song can connect with anyone who has ever felt alone or lost. ✌
Sori, your interpretation was very deep and I never thought of it that way but you are right on it. Thank you for opening my eyes to that... I grew up loving the original song but I love this version and it brought me to tears as well!!!
Rich Wass totally agree, I was trying to put into words and seriously couldn’t, she did it for me!
Wow actually yesterday I was searching for your reaction for this music. Sori's emotional reactions and Vin with his awesome analysis capabilities make these reaction awesome! Good job guys!
