- The wonderful and touching film "The song of Bernadette" (1943), with Jennifer Jones, narrates, with great accuracy from the historical point of view and with a splendid acting, the story of Lourdes.
The young girl Bernadette Soubirous had 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary, from 11th February to 16th July 1858, at Massabielle Grotto.
The Catholic Church, which has strict criteria for establishing the authenticity of apparitions, approved Lourdes apparitions on 18th June 1862. Bernadette was canonized on 8th December 1933.

In this video the discovery of the spring in the Grotto of Massabielle in Lourdes. The location of the spring was showed to Bernadette Soubirous by the Virgin Mary during the 9th apparition, on 25 February 1858. Since that time many thousands of pilgrims to Lourdes have followed the instruction of Our Lady to "drink at the spring and wash in it". The water flows at 17.000 / 72.000 liters a day.
I cry every time I see this movie. I cry with joy, knowing how much Our Mother loves us. I cry with sadness, knowing that I'm just a poor sinner, and that my sins hurt my Mother and my Lord. I cry because Our Lady comes to the poor, the lowly, and the ones forgotten by this world because she has all of us under Her Mantle. I cry because I love Her so, and I cry because so many do not know Her or Her Son.

Tania Herdsman I went to Lourdes France last year. I have seen The Holy Grotto where The Virgin Mary appeared to Bernadette. I have drank the water from the spring and washed in it's waters. I felt healthier for doing so. It really is quilt an experience. If you haven't washed in the water from the spring I would suggest to do so just to experience it.
@@jonathanlowe599 Well, that Lady must hate me alot ; months ago, we got actual Lourdes water in white bottles and I prayed, no, it never cured the cataracts in my eye, its still the same. My left ankle was sore and hurt me for weeks,I saturated it with Lourdes water and prayed. It wasn't cured, until Society of the Little Flower prayed for me. My ankle feels betternow. Just recently, a week ago, our cockatiel, little Honeybird, was ill and not getting better. We gave her Lourdes water and prayed; yes, she got better right away and has been well ever since. Their must be some kind of curse on me ...
