    • @leoncrazyman07
      @leoncrazyman07 8 лет назад +23

      ***** Yes really, that's partly why the moaning of life is Karl's own show, and Ricky and Steve aren't involved. But yeah Ricky gets bored easy like a child, and like a child he will do anything to someone to cure that boredom. So wrestling with Karl, squeezing his head, getting him to come over and do videos without telling him the whole story (e.g Learn english with Ricky Gervais) that was just an excuse to make fun of Karl. He also once invited Warwick Davis around, and when Warwick arrived he dressed him in a little frog costume and got him to hop up the stairs. You can see on some of Ricky;s DVD extra's he constantly annoy's his "friend" Robin Ince, making noises over and over to annoy him, screaming in his face, poking him, acting like a mental patient.Robin admitted he was almost driven insane by Ricky once. Karl has waked out on the radio show once, he got annoyed of the constant abuse and insults and just walked out, turned his phone off and got on a train somewhere. He and Steve don't get on anyway, but Ricky's constant annoying finally made Karl snap and just end the friendship.

      Karl isn't as funny alone though. Moaning of life is way worse than An Idiot Abroad for instance. My point being that it's the fact that Ricky and Steve guide and prod Karl into a corner that produces some surprising bit of stupidity a lot of the time.
      Cause face it, listening to an idiot having a monologue is usually not funny, it's hearing their idiocy in a social context that's funny.

      *****
      So you think Moaning of life is better than An Idiot abroad? It sure as hell can't compare to The Ricky Gervais show which by far is the best any of those 3 have done.
      Whereas if Karl had one of those podcasts where he just talks on his own about whatever he wants for 30 minutes, it would not be close to anywhere as good. I actually doubt I would listen to that at all.

    • @CaveWang
      @CaveWang 9 лет назад +4

      +perman07 Karl is not an idiot. Most of the stuff he says is not stupid. Ricky himself thinks that Karl is smart. He just acts like Karl is stupid to get Karl pissed and get something weird/stupid or whatever out of him.

    Father was a drunk, mother was the only onenhe ever loved (he carried her picture his entire life and even had a large picture of her after he became Fuhrer at every birthday celebration). He he went to VIENNA to try art school, were he was denied. He lived on the streets, selling his drawings of architecture (he loved the classics and hated modern art (I agree with him on that one)). In his late 20's the war broke out. He became a soldier, where he delivered messeages to different trenches. It was one of the worst jobs in the war. He won an Iron Cross (He always wore it the rest if his life). He was blinded by a gas attack. Recovered and stayed in the army after the war. He became a spy for the new Weimar Republic (Germany's official name after the fall of the Kaiser. Named after the town to where the Republic was formed). He joined the Workers Party. Remaned it the National Socialist Workers Party. Tried a coup ( Beer hall Putsch (he was influenced by Mussolini's blackshirts). Was jailed. Wrote Mein Kampf. Released after 1 year. Realized in Prison to get power he would have to do it through politics. His Party won a majority in '32. Hindenburg refused to name him Chancellor, but finally conceded in 1933. Thr Reichstag fire caused panic (No evidence that it was started by the NAZI's). He asked for emergency power for 4 years and was granted it in a vote by the members of the Reichstag. Hindenburg died. The rest is history.

    It is typical of the English history books to leave out the massive contribution made by Russia in the second world war. The English don't like to be reminded of it. But the truth is without Russia we would have lost the war.

    • @dtz1000
      @dtz1000 9 лет назад +5

      +super.freak You should acknowledge that without the Russians you would have lost the war. You have refused to do that so far. Probably the modern British textbooks are the same as you and don't acknowledge it either. Did the book Karl read acknowledge it? Of course not. The airbrushing of history by the British continues.

      +joshua powell The Indians and the Americans did not help out more than the Russians to win the war. We are not talking here about willingness to help out. We are talking about results. Without the Russians we would have lost the war, with or without the help of the Americans and Indians. Russians died in the millions defending themselves against the Germans. Once again the English like you downplay the involvement of the russians. Without the russians you would be speaking German right now. Time you English stopped trying to rewrite history all the time.

    • @dtz1000
      @dtz1000 9 лет назад +1

      +joshua powell Why do you continue to downplay the role of Russia in WW2? Stalingrad was the turning point of WW2. Hitler himself blamed Stalingrad for dooming Germany. The British media agreed at the time and decades afterwards. WW2 british Army generals also said as much. So cut out the bullshit propaganda that has sprung up recently from the British media and government. You owe a great debt to Russia but you will never accept that as you are an arrogant Brit.

    • @dtz1000

    You're half-right. We did benefit from the war, but it started long before we joined the fighting. Our manufacturing sector was booming because we offered full-faith and credit, meaning we sold weapons to "individuals" regardless of which side they fought for. It is likely that several battles were fought between Axis and Allies where American-made rounds were fired on both sides. Once we joined the war, women replaced the men in the factories so the men could fight.

      At least Rick was right to say America was late to the party. We ignore the St. Louis and act like the camps don't exist for two years, but get involved once it affects us in Pearl Harbor. And then we take all the glory.
      I want to see more WW2 movies where the Russian's fight the Axis. I'm sure there would be more to tell.

      +Mikkhailov the truth is if the BoB had never been won, Russia would have faced all of Germany military now that the western front would be sealed up. you also wouldn't be getting American lend lease equipment through north sea routes protected by Britain. Or how about the fact that Britain with help from America stopped Germany advancement to the middle east and from their to oil fields (which was their main downfall they lacked the resources to constantly use their fantastic and effective Blitzkrieg tactic). Britain, USSR, America these were the three main players in allied success without anyone of these it would have been a probable defeat.

    Im English and I wouldn't say that we're obsessed with Hitler and WW2, we learn about it in history lessons at school. In Karls case, he hardly went to school so Im guessing he didn't learn too much about Hitler, but Ricky gave him a pocket book of Hitler, which he memorised and is repeating here. It has nothing to do with him being British, other than his parents and the Anderson shelters mentioned in the XFM shows.

    Britain fought constantly throughout the entire war; France, Greece, Crete, Malta, the Middle East, North Africa, the Pacific. Russia fought extremely hard to defend its territory, but I think to say that the war would have been won without any of the major allied powers fighting would be foolish.

    That's why the Cold War was so scary. German physicists from WWII in both Russia and the US. Patton wanted to continue through Berlin and push towards Moscow to prevent something like this. However helpful his pride (and somewhat deranged actions) was during the war, it would have been his death if allowed and weren't for a finder bender.

    Exactly my point. When the winter came the Russians just burned the cities and left leaving Napoleons armies to the cold. That is partly why Patton was not very fond of them in my opinion. Even Hitler tried to negotiate with them to avoid an all out invasion of Russia knowing it would be nearly impossible just to reach Moscow.
