I love that his "fame" hasn't really changed him much, just gave him a bit more money for his DIY's, a lovely summer home (last I heard they wanted a place in Italy, according to the fortune teller who read his ass) and enough money to keep Suzanne happy aka to "shut her up" as he would so romantically refer to it lol. He could have kept his "schtick" up for years but there's a certain amount of wealth that you hit where it doesn't affect your happiness either way, you won't be a happier person if you made more/or less - I hope that makes sense in my garbled Karl way of explaining stuff (my bro always tells me I explain things in a Pilkington-type of way so I here's hoping the Karl fans will be able to translate what I'm trying to say) 😉 If more rich people were like Karl (less greedy, egotistical and power hungry), the world would be a little more fair and definitely less corrupt, in my humble opinion. He's still got probably way more money than he'll ever know how to spend in one lifetime and he's definitely outdone himself in the eyes of his family and old friends from Manchester. Good guy Karl, I am just thankful he shared so many years of his life and think he deserves to live out a quiet, peaceful little life. Although I do miss him, I'll forever have those classic XFM years to listen to - and his travel escapades to rewatch when I'm down and out in life. I so genuinely hope he's happy and enjoying retirement, he's definitely earned it putting up with Ricky and Stephen for all those years! 😉 ❤️

Ricky Gervais can be funny plus I've known guys like Pilkinton, where they can be pretty funny without realising it, but there should be a limit on what's considered comedy & I don't think being cooped up in a house being persecuted because of you're race, & if caught, is basically a death sentence & trying to survive a regime that says, if you're Jewish, you're dead!, I don't consider that comedy or something to be laughed at. I mean I’d understand this comment if they were laughing about the fact that Anne Frank died, but that’s entirely not the joke. They are laughing about how little Karl knows about this prominent historical figure and his accident assumption that she didn’t do anything of note. Humor is literally a way of coping with tragedy, the day we lose the ability to make jokes just around the presence of tragedy will be a sad day.
And years later, Karl's diary made him rich.

The way he just casually says that line absolutely floors me.
Who was lazier Ann Frank or Rosa Parks?
"Work from the top down." Good advice.
