LazerzZ Holy crap! That Intro gave me Goosebumps this video was Amazing!!! Well done!!!!
almost every villain in city is poorly used, the only exceptions are joker, but still he was absent from more than half the game,mr.freeze and clayface
"I am the reason why criminals breathe easier when the sun rises"
That's my favorite quote of the Arkham series
That entire scene is incredible, Roger did a great job in his delivery of that line from a young Bruce.
I agree! That line was extremely awesome! One of the best ever, my favorite line has to be Conroy's from Arkham Knight, the line being "I am the vengeance, I am the knight, I am Batman!", that literally gave me chills.
17will_
That line was cliched and has been said hundreds of times already. Origins had better and more original dialogue. Origins is easily my favorite Batman game.
Say what you will about Origins, but you have to admit the dialogue was 10x better!
Asylum:
Doctor: "It's a trap!"
Batman: "I know, just not for me"
City:
Alfred: "World's greatest assassin vs. the world's greatest detective. Who will win?"
Batman: "Not him"
Origins:
Croc: "I thought I caught your scent!."
Batman: "I know I caught yours."
Knight:
Alfred: "What are you going to do?"
Batam: "I'm going to show him what happens to someone who messes with MY city."
so that just means that criminals are allowed to do whatever they want in daylight as batman only works at night
Lazzerz: " *I cant wait to see batman return* "
Gotham knights: haha... no
Yea I’m sad that batman is not the main person in this game but it looks like it could be fun. I’m not digging the marvel type look too it I think it should have the same type of dark cold look to it. Either way I’ll still play it.
@@realworld.campus I think the more colorful look is fine because the bat family are much more lighthearted and friendly than batman (except maybe jason todd) so it reflects their personality like how the Arkham games' lack of color reflected batman's personality
Evelyn Sgrungle ig I’m more like Batman with is dark personality then 😂
Suicide squad is apparently the same universe
anyone else think that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights were the same game at one point in time? If WB Montreal was teasing Gotham Knights that early, why would the tagline for a game where Batman is dead be "Capture the Knight"? But perhaps in a game where the hero becomes the villain... "Capture the Knight" is slightly more fitting. Maybe a game where you played as the Bat-Family having to take down a super-powered and/or mind-controlled Bruce? But then the ideas evolved and creative differences between WB and Rocksteady created a rift and split the game into two, with one ending up being about the Bat-Family and the other about taking down Batman, but expanded upon when it was decided to use the Suicide Squad as protagonists? I am still of the opinion that since SS: KTJL is set in the Arkhamverse, and that they retconned Deadshot and to some extent Harley Quinn with this new game, they might bring Batman in as a surprise twist, given that he's supposedly dead.
Joker making the Bat who laughs in the comics: I broke him and turned Bats into another agent of chaos. Joker in Arkham Knight: *I GAVE HIM CLOWN AIDS*
But The Batman Who Laughs also got clown aids from a toxic gas
@friggyk I disagree. Although TAS had great story depth, batman lacks in technology, fighting capabilities (got his ass kicked around by a thug) and etc.
@friggyk nah
@friggyk *cough cough* _Arkham Origins_ *cough cough*
Dear GOD, we all dodged a bullet. EA's Batman would have been filled with grindy repetitive side missions needed to boost your character to an arbitrary level needed to progress the story that in order to avoid all the hassle one would have to purchase XP boosts to speed up the boring process. Either that or they would have implemented something similar to the orc lootboxes in Shadow of War. XD
It is, and was
EA have lost thier credibility a long time ago

@AOW BatThor we know. Hes comparing the Arkham games to shadow of war
@Konrad Crear ikr
And I just love the fact that Batman in Arkham Origins is voiced by Ezio's voice actor. Roger Craig Smith has a legendary voice. I think If any one should carry the mantle of Batman's voice after Kevin Conroy it should him.
as much crap Origins gets, it really was not that bad, its a good game, but the problem was its inbetween City and Knight, Origins did nothing wrong but it also did nothing new, kind of just exists but i loved how Angry Bruce was
@@devildavin I really loved Origins boss fights, expecially DeathStroke. Yeah it had flaws in gameplay and story but boss fights is what made me like the game. At least it's not driving around in a tank shooting some cars, or whatever is it in Knight.
And the fastest thing alive Sonic The Hedgehog
Troy Baker did better.
@@FYNFynia His Batman is okay but it's no where even close to Kevin Conroy. No one will ever be as iconic. Plus I am enjoying other actor's take on Batman. Troy Baker on the other hand is complete garbage dude. Not as a voice actor but just as the Joker. I hate his attempt at emulating Mark Hamill because he just doesn't get what Mark Hamill was doing with his Joker. It sounds so annoying because it's so close but just doesn't compare. I'd have preferred if Troy Baker had his own take on the Joker voice instead of this weird emulation of Hamill. It may sound similar but it's not really. It's way off which only makes it more disappointing that he didn't make his Joker voice more original.
Bro when that scarecrow part happened in Arkham asylum I had like a mini heart attack when they basically glitched the game
Same here I turned off and on my PS3 because I thought the game lagged or something.
I was like wtf, for real? All this time spent on this game and this happens. It better save from my last check point.
This one REALLY got me because I was having a lot of trouble with my PC at the time. I would have unplugged my computer to hard-restart it, but there were a few things in the back of my mind which made me wait and see:
1) In the 90's, there was an X-Men game on the Genesis which would "crash" when you got to a certain point, and it would tell you to "re-set the system". Now, you weren't sure what this meant, as the entire game up to that point was a run-away Danger Room simulation. If you took a risk and hit the Genesis' reset button, it didn't ACTUALLY reset the game, but instead showed a bunch of binary code, and then it loaded the final level. A great feat of engineering for the time. So I knew that once in a while, games could play tricks on you (See also Metal Gear Solid, there's a bad guy who reads your save files and makes your controller move).
2) There's just a slight hint of a Joker laugh looping when the game "crashes".
3) and most important, I was too stunned to actually do anything. By the time the jig was up, I wasn't even mad, it was an amazing feeling of relief that the game was still working!
uchiha bomber I wish it did that 😂idk it just felt purposeful to me. The hallway got super long, and Batman stops for no reason-which never happens unless there’s a cutscene or story part happening, and as soon as he coughs....glitch?
I was like No i thougt my computer froze

Arkham Origins is such an underrated game. It’s my favorite in the franchise. The voice actors Roger Craig Smith & Troy Baker giving outstanding performances as younger versions of Batman and Joker. I also loved Harleen’s meeting with the Joker before becoming Harley Quinn. Also Bane’s portrayal being an intelligent badass; this game explaining why he is the way he is in Asylum. And Alfred and Bruce’s relationship, from Bruce being too lone-wolf to coming to respect Alfred as his second father, working together as a team. Not to mention the Deathstroke boss fight, as well as Bane’s and Firefly’s! The overall cinematography (like that News perspective of Batman fighting on the roof being one example…) And the overall story in itself *chef’s kiss*
I can go on; so much great stuff in this game. Great job on the video :)
mahega .128 same lol it’s an uncommon opinion
I enjoyed origins way more than most people but I didn’t like the change in voice actors, but they were still good
origins was beautiful
mahega GUM I disagree with the Batman voice acting but the joker was pretty good
Troy Baker literally copies mark hamill when voicing the Joker
To this day, asylum is the creepiest/scariest out of the games.
Freaking when you first encounter scare crow had me really creeped out, or when you had to go through crocs layer, talk about a heart attack waiting to happen!!!
Nobody seems to remember the mental patients who would charge you, screaming and wailing, then attempt to fucking eat your flesh and claw at your skin once they got a hold of you. They terrified me as a kid.
@James Gratz Ironically enough I beat City and Origins before I ever beat Asylum even though I got Asylum in 2010 or so when I got my first console.
I adore Arkham Origins. Gotham on Christmas Eve is just awesome. It’s also cool to see the map from Arkham City before it was turned into a prison. Also can’t forget that menu music from Origins. So fucking good.
that game was way too buggy. the game had about two good boss fights. not that great
OHCAM5 I didn’t play it until months after it was released. So maybe some of the bugs have been fixed. I’ve also only played it on PC so I can’t speak to how it runs on last gen consoles. But I can go through the entire story on PC without encountering any significant bugs. They’re pretty rare on the PC version, at least.
@@Ward413 It's not a terrible game just the worst of the Arkham games. I played through it 3 times on my last playthrough on I am the night got a bug at the end that ruined my save and stopped playing lol
OHCAM5 just because a game bugged for you doesn’t mean it is buggy, it just bugged for you. I’ve never had any problems with bugs and that seems to be the case for most people. And what you said about boss fights isn’t even true. What good boss fights did Arkham Knight have?
OHCAM5 looking back on origins I realized how much I loved that game, I think I’ve replayed it the most out of any Arkham game. I loved playing as Deathstroke and ninja Bruce Wayne because they were just different. And the Origins Suit was honestly the coolest looking default suit
I can't believe you didn't mention Roger Craig Smith as the voice of Batman in Origins. 10/10 for me because you know... I... like... Assassin's Creed? Great video mate, can't wait for the next Arkham release.
throw the blue hedgehog in there I guess as well but damn I think Batman is one of his best
Underrated Batman, I know Kevin Conroy is legend but Roger Craig Smith is a great succesor.
@@themadtitan7603 Honestly, he should be used more as Batman's voice actor, I really liked what he did in Origins.

Troy Bakers Joker was awesome aswell
After the corona virus lockdowns I think we can all relate to the emptiness of the city in Origins and it being actually realistic and reflective of an actual curfew
Bro Arkham Asylum, City, Origins we’re all great games (haven’t played Knight yet, I have PS3 still) BRO who remembers the killer croc mission in ASYLUM, bro I was so scared to get to that mission so I called my brothers to do the mission for me! The scariest mission in Origins is when bane turned to 100 Arnold swarzenegger’s combined
But overall the Arkham games will hold a special place in my heart

Great retrospective!
I love the Arkham games. One of the most influential videogame franchises in recent memory, specially when it comes to the combat.
Hate to be that guy, but Arkham Origins actually takes place 8 years before Arkham Asylum not 5. There are some dialoge lines in Arkham Knight that confirm this.
Also, about the whole Grapnel Boost continuity error in Origins, the developers obviously didn't want to sacrifice gameplay for continuity's sake, so they decided to put that gadget in the game to make traversing through the city easier. Thankfully, they had the good sense to change its name in Origins to Grapnel Accelerator, so you could technicaly say that its a different gadget altogher (maybe an early and less efficient version of the Grapnel Boost).
Yup
Really? 8 years? I'd figured it was 20 or something like that
BeUgLo97 no, it’s 5 years before Asylum and 8 Years before Knight
@@clxutz Nope, when you rescue a firefighter in Knight he explicitly says that the Pioneer's Bridge attack (Firefly boss battle in Origins) was "a decade ago".
BeUgLo97 he said exactly “He hasn’t attacked Gotham for what? Like Ten years?” Which means he’s not entirely sure how long ago that was And there’s a deleted audio of DeathStroke to Batman saying “You’re going to pay for what you did to me 8 years ago” referencing to Origins
Who would of thought that we have Garry Oldman to thank for Arkham games.
Gary Oldman is a legend
EA's favourite person that year. 🤣
Just another reason to love the guy

asylum: simple
city: more complicated but simple
origins: complicated
knight: spending 2 hours trying to get to the Arkham knight's excavation tunnel in the Killinger mall

It makes me really sad that people want another Arkham game after the amazing ending and wrap up that Arkham Knight had. I wouldn’t want that franchise to become like Assassin’s Creed where they stop running out of ideas for stories and milk it for money. It was a franchise that had a start and finish, and I deeply respect Rocksteady for knowing when their story was done and calling it quits while they were ahead. You don’t see many gaming studios making an official ending for their games like that.
Arkham Knight's ending kinda sucked though. I'd rather have more Arkham games.
Make Arkham prequels

@@Arkhamman2023 Wow, another argumentative fallacy - a strawman. That's not even remotely close to what I was alluding to with my comment. Can you not come up with a rebuttal that is logically sound in the slightest?
Yes. Fans need to stop asking for more and more of the same games. At one point, its gonna go sour. And then all thats left is to abuse the company.
Arkham City: even better sequel to great game.
Arkham Origins: B-team delivers solid game and obscure crooks get their opportunity to be reborn.
Arkham Asylum: great start with A-level casting and solid mechanics.
Arkham Knight: as epic ending as could be expected, but Batmobile is overused and underachieved gimmick.

1. If the Arkham knight knows Bruce so well, why did he send unmanned tanks. If he put his men in the tanks, Bruce wouldn't be able to kill them and he would lose.
2. WTF is that thing with Jokers blood? Like it makes no sense. Jokers blood is fine. Aside from his looks, he is a normal human.
3. The Jason Todd torture flashback implies that Bruce thought that Jason was dead so he took in Tim. But he is imagining a scenario where he thought Jason was dead, but knew he wasn't AND HE STILL DOESN'T FIGURE OUT WHO THE KNIGHT IS!
4. Bruce Wayne is an escape artist and he can take down up to 5 people in a matter of seconds as shown in the game. He did nothing to escape scarecrow and let a B lister reveal his identity.
5. Jason who wanted to kill batman up to now, suddenly wants to help him because he said sorry.

The entire Arkham series is a “love story” or the duality between batman and joker, origins shows well...the origins of this relationship and city the end but AK shows the regrets and what is left and how batman gets over the joker. This is something that I thought while I was in the shower and this was tHe best place to comment it

See that right there is the problem. Superhero isn't a "genre."
The first 3 were apart of my childhood but I was 15 when knight came out and it’s actually my fav flaws aside but knight is my fav and I replay it the most 🙏🏽💯
My childhood too
i couldn’t handle the modest jump scares in Knight. i let out audible gasps every time i grapnelled into an unexpected Joker or Man-Bat; even turning around as Joker at the end and being confronted by a Batman statue that took up my entire field of view was harrowing... at least in Asylum I knew when Scarecrow was gonna triple my heart rate and could look away.
Who’s here after you found out you can’t play as Batman in Gotham knights

Actually, Jason Todd was confirmed to exist (or existed) in Arkham City. When you play a particular challenge map as Robin, Joker will sometimes say, "Robin!? Didn't I kill you already?" In reference to Death In The Family.
For me, the reason the Arkham Knight doesn't work is because it was too obvious it was Jason Todd. I mean, shit they had to create an entire DLC about Red Hood to throw people off, and some people still correctly guessed that Red Hood is the mantle Jason assumes after the conclusion of the game.
I do like how Jason is handled within the confines of the story, but the execution was just dreadful.
Eh, predictability isn't the same as it being bad in my opinion.
Surprised you didn't mention the Arkham Origins soundtrack. Christopher Drake did an amazing job, especially Joker's theme! Great video!
here to rewatch this gem. your best work
Wow. You did it again James. Another fucking incredible and I mean INCREDIBLE video. The amount of effort you put into your videos is just insane, and I don't think I've seen anyone as dedicated as you to making this great content. After the Fable Retrospective, I thought that you wouldn't top that video in a long time. You did last year with your Odyssey video and now I think you did it again, with this being your best video in my opinion. The intro was fucking incredible again, your writing was more than good, and the whole editing of the video spectacular as always ;). Honestly man, I really appreciate all of the effort that you put into your videos, it's clear to see how hard you work on them. I hope to see more in the future because I enjoy them a lot. Keep up the good work mate, I can't wait to see what you do next with your channel and As Always.
This might be your best edited video, that intro gave me chills
I feel you really got the essence of Arkham in that intro. Great job man.
This was in my recommended and what a fantastic video; the work you put into this shows and this is truly wonderful. Well done!
Beautiful intro to the video. Love the echos of Batman’s past, present, future of his legacy and each games theme. Plz ❤️ this
Ahhhh yes, the best video game series of all time
That intro was a masterpiece, the nostalgia I got from it and how well it was put together literally made my day.
Great video man.
You nailed it!
A love letter to a incredible gaming series that is the best adaptation of batman outside of the comics and the dcau
What a great video, this is the best video i ever see about the Arkhamverse
I know I'm a bit late, but thank you for taking the time to talk about this. It is my favourite game series (and personally Asylum is my favourite). You emoted perfectly from a fans perspective, how important these games are to us and why we love them like we do.
I can tell you put a large amount of effort into this and I genuinely appreciate it.
Thank you
These games are what we got instead of decent Batman movies, at least since Nolan stopped making them.
Games are better then movies anyway, in a game you make your own perfect movie
The hardest choices require the strongest wills
Alex Torres. Depends
@@alextorres4667 he gave us an amazing trilogy, with unbelievable philosophical struggles, underpinned by one of the best acting jobs in human history by heath ledger.
@@alextorres4667 not really
Amazing video. I didn´t even feel those 43 minutes
Thank you! 🙌🏻
That intro was bloody epic good job man 👍👍👍👍
Great video going back through with my daughter on return to Arkham, about an hour, story wise into Asylum, she's loving it. As you I've been hearing rumors, and waiting for the next reveal, again masterful job mate.
“More AI Intelligence”
Me: “So Artificial Intelligence Intelligence
No it means Abnormally Intolerable Intelligence
Little did we know it wasn’t a Batman game
Wow...what a nice video...never saw a better Batman Series video like this...the way you said and explained wow...I loved it ❤️❤️❤️ Great work 🙏
AMAZING video bro. Made me wanna replay all these games again.
Love the video, masterfull editing, great commentary...Simply perfect! Hope you do more of this documentary style vídeos in the future becuase I really love it. Great editing for the montage and 1:08 was super satisfying
Die-hard Arkham fan here, I’ve been so since I was about maybe 9 or so and I loved this series ever since with Asylum still being my favorite. This was a great review and even though I was severely let down by Knight, this video helped me see just a little bit of what I missed though it still is my least favorite. I can’t wait to see whatever the new project is in store.
Knight also let me down.
I love this series so much! I got goose bumps just by watching the first minute of cutscenes and sound clips
Dude just that intro of all the voiceover, that hits the nostalgia
I feel like this video was conveniently made for me bc I just decided to replay all of the Arkham games. (Except Origins)
Me too, just finished Arkham Knight today!
Micheal Jackson's Aborted Son yeah I just beat Arkham Asylum for the first time last Friday and I’m about to fight Ra’s A Ghoul in city
Play origins is pretty good
Need more long form analysis/ retrospective. Can't get enough
The intro to this video gave me chills, I loved all of these games, I want to go back in time to re- experience all of these games.
Just rewatched for the second time really good video
Paul Dini seriously needs to make a comeback.
Jay Bradley The plot might not be that good, but his understanding of these characters is almost flawless and makes the story that much more convincing. Don't know about the cutscenes though. Could be a little bit more cinematic.
@@akwilson1676 the story in Origins is the best in the series. Dini may not have written Origins but whoever wrote Origins also understands Batman as good as Dini does. Dini is not a God.
Sparsh Bansal Nobody says he is. But Origins still can not tie the huge number of villains to the plot as well as Dini does.
@@akwilson1676 In my opinion, it did. Infact I thought the voice actor for Batman was better too even though I grew up watching Kevin Conroy. The writing for joker, batman's relationship with Alfred, Joker's obsession with Batman, Barbara's admiration for Batman, etc. were done better than city and asylum. Bane was a dumb Hulk in city or asylum ( Dini's writing) not in origins. However, rocksteady's gameplay and polish was not there but as far as writing and cinematics go, WB Montreal nailed it. They proved that they can make a competent batman game and can probably even outdo rocksteady in the next game.
@@brucew565 Not even close, Arkham City story is and always will be better.
Origins has a shitload of plotholes, from the entire Joker inclusion to how Bane discovered Batman's Identity ti even the whole how he took down eight assassins in one night during his early years.
Let’s be real, the greatest fictional couple of all time will forever be Batman and Joker.
This. This is so well done! Great job, videos CAN make days!
The intro gaves me chills, Simply awesome❤️
Love the video James, you can really see the work you put into these and man are they a good time to watch. Arkham is one of my favourite game series and I love them all but I have a lot of criticism for Arkham knights story, purely for how it just doesn’t pay off enough from what city set up and the whole Jason Todd thing just bugs me
Otherwise loved the video and can’t wait for your next one!
The batmobile annoyed me so much that I actually gave up🤷🏾♂️
Fantastic video really captures the essence of everything that makes Arkham well Arkham grew up with the franchise and still play to this day I am glad you reminded on how awesome this franchise is well enough of me to comment, still need to finish the video 😂😂
Great video my man!
