    Great video. Unlucky getting the maths questions, mine were two written questions. 25 mins on one and 15 mins on the other, relatively straight forward, looking for reflective learning etc.

    The skills tests used to be more centralised, where you'd have to go to a registered centre which weren't connected to the training providers.
    When they "scrapped" it, they changed it to each individual training provider needing to make sure their candidates had the skills necessary to be a successful teacher.. That's why you'll still have to do one with individual training providers

      I have a math and english test after my interview. Will this be equivalent to the skills test? Any advice on how to practice for them? I have been out of education for a very long time!

    • @Splodgeit03
      @Splodgeit03 3 года назад +1

      @@kabu6087 The tests after interviews are normally to ascertain your skill level and not a "pass or fail" scenario, so I wouldn't stress too much about them. Depending on when your interview is, there is a badged course on the Open University's Open Learn platform called "Succeed with Maths" and there's a "Succeed with Maths part 2" as well.. they're really good but they're pretty hefty. If you're doing primary school and don't have that much time then I'd search for old SATs papers, they can be found on the Government website and are a really useful indicator of the kind of Maths and English that is taught in schools. My English task for my interview was to read a chapter of a book that they'd given me and form an argument around whether or not I agreed with them, so it might be worth doing some academic reading around schools and education. Again though, I just think it's for them to see what level you're at, so don't worry too much, enjoy the experience 🙂. Sorry it's quite a long reply. Good luck! I hope you're successful

      There is such a range of questions they could ask. If you search online there may be a few practice ones!

    • @cherscoolbeans
      @cherscoolbeans  3 года назад +1

      Yes they did. In two interviews I had to speak about it in both English assessments and I was asked about it in an interview question from another provider. I think it's definitely something most providers are asking!

      They're not the same as they used to be. So, when you interview with a provider, they have their own assessments for you to do, but generally just to guage what level you're at. The ones where if you fail them, then you can't train to teach don't exist anymore

      @@zoechannel57 I think there are only two ways you can apply, through UCAS or on the government website somewhere, potentially the department of education but I haven't done that and I would imagine they're both a pretty similar process.
