Trains in 2002 - BNSF Military, Amfleet Cabcars, & Coaster Action!

More old videos from the Surf Line from 2002 into 2003. I started at the beginning of this VHS tape and added the first 11 trains to make this 7 minute video. Shots are mostly in San Diego with the exception of one in Irvine and one in Carpinteria, CA. These were the transition years of Amtrak...Pacific Surfliner equipment primarily sprinkled with 2 to 3 low level Amfleet sets running around. The Dash 9 locomotive dominated the BNSF, the Coaster horns were prime, and best of all...no Siemens invasion of American railroading! Ahhhhhhh....The good old days on the Surfline...

Man, I wonder how fun railfanning that area was…quite a variety of power, rolling stock, and when horns were still blowing in downtown San Diego.
