Yes, I think they will soon be the biggest player on the market. Their synthesizers are getting better and better. Really exciting times :) But I hope they leave enough space for the small manufacturers.
@Boofsquad No, I was more referring to how they price their synths FAIRLY with out the insane corrupt markup of the big brands. That is why they will TAKE OVER. Watch it happen.
@Boofsquad You definitely have no idea about current Chinese manufacturing standards, in particular if the factory is owned by a foreign company. Anyway, good luck finding a modern synth that doesn't use Chinese parts.
Boofsquad - I think Moog is a different entity altogether, more like a big boutique manufacturer. Fair play to them for sticking with their homegrown philosophy. Back in the late 90’s I tried twice to buy a Minimoog when they were around £1200 if memory serves. That was obviously before the internet so by the time you’d seen the add and phoned the retailer they’d already been sold. These days I’d feel a bit of a dummy forking out on a Moog Model D when I can get a Boog for £270 odd. So I did and it’s great. I can see your argument in terms of morality, but I’m sure Moog will pick up more sales from folk starting out with a Boog and then deciding they want the real thing further down the line. The above scenario won’t happen for Roland, can’t see folk ‘upgrading’ from a Behringer TD8 to a TR08 or TR8.
