- Hey guys here is my sound demo of the Behringer EDGE with some effects coming from Ableton. In this demo the EDGE is synced via midi cable to the tempo of my DAW. If you like this video please leave a like and subscribe to help this channel grow.

If anything was gonna sell me on the Edge, it's this demo. Very nice.
A lot of these sound like they would be B-sides for Underworld. This thing is killer
or Plastikman if it was a departure from a 303.

i own one and its the most "techno" synth out of everything i own and its so simple to use to great crazy sounds i really love it.
Perkons is too expensive so this is the alternative version. Gotta get this.

I love my DFAM… this inexpensive alternate definitely is impressive… I was about to buy a second DFAM until I saw this will be released sometime this year…
ok dude you seem to have experience with both devices. i got my edge yesterday and first i took a listen to short attack/decay in more dark sound and i hear clicks n clicks 😩 is the dfam same behaviour or is less? i hate that clicks on analog devices, my xoxbox drove me crazy with that already 🤯
@@yukuzoona6604 I ended up never picking up the Edge but the DFAM is a mono analog device... I have a moog mixer that came with it but there has been times when using it with pedals and other setups and id get some audio defects here and there... But overall the sounds that come from the DFAM can range from industrial beats to clicks and beeps etc all depending on the settings... analog is "classic" technology sometimes the imperfections in sound is why people love them so much... All depends what you're looking for... I currently don't own any Behringer products... I'm not sure if they are poorly constructed... Everyone i know who is anti-behringer will say it's junk but also anyone i know who owns behringer product clones say their great and well made... Maybe your Edge is defective?

It has a particular sound to it that I’m finding in nearly every demo. It sounds good for what it does but I just wouldn’t find a reason to incorporate one of these into my studio.
I guess it depends on whether you want this sound/genre in your arsenal. It seems to me like a fun rhythmic tool, even if it gets buried or deleted from a final mix.
Edge might lead one's creativity in unexpected directions. It might also get boring after a short time. The reviews of DFAM ought to give an indication of how long users can tolerate this sound. 😸
@@crnkmnky I mean for $200 it's certainly not breaking the bank. Even if it gets boring after a while, it's not like it's a $600 DFAM collecting dust. Plus it's got MIDI, so its more flexible.
I feel like you could toss a few fx on it to change the sound significantly and still use it as the basis for your percussion

Thanks! Most people just pronounce the letters individually. Back in the day when choosing the name the idea was that it would be pronounced Dimension :) but I know that is far from obvious 😅

great programming. I don't think most ppl will be able to do even close to what you're doing with it, but I do think its exactly what everyone knows is possible / loves this type of minimalist synth/sequencer classic monophonic entire beat vibe . Fantastic! I try dong this on the JDxA but that's got 4 analog parts which is a ton more and yet I usually only ever get about as much going on as you do

@@noodlingaround2023 see the top right cable? It sends audio out from edge into ableton. There, effects are added to the incoming audio signal

I try to make my bass lines sound like percussion and and drum beats sound like a bass line, so this machine seems ideal..

Phenomenal!!!!! This device seems incredible to use, very very awesome video! I wonder if there is a way to get more than 8 steps out of it though? or is it confined to 8 steps?

DFAM user here, to me EDGE is more boomy, DFAM is more clean at the low end. Also this one sounds less transparent at all. Sounds good but to me it's like 70% of the real thing.
There's a great comparison video out.
They do sound different sure and DFAM does sound cleaner. That said i would rather have the EDGE because i like the grit and the dirty sounds coming from it. It really excels in Industrial and dark synth stuff which i mainly do.
just get 4 of these for 1000 euro and cause fucking damage.
