  • Opened in May 2017, BGI Australia laboratory is BGI’s first genome sequencing laboratory located in the southern hemisphere. The 300 m2 purpose-built laboratory, with segregation of multiple processing areas and strict quality management system to ensure accurate and efficient sample preparation, hosts BGI’s proprietary next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform including two DNBSEQ-G400 and one DNBSEQ-G50. The sequencer has received TGA approved in Australia and international certifications including CE Marking, CB Certification and CFDA (China Food and Drug Administration). The state-of-the-art facility currently has the capacity to sequence approximately 2,500 Whole genome sequencing samples or about 40,000 RNA-seq samples per year. BGI Australia Laboratory focuses on serving for diverse local research collaborations, e.g. sequencing samples for RNA-seq, Whole Genome Sequencing, Exome, ChiP-seq, Metagenomics, and Methyl-seq applications.
