In my city (Montreal, Canada) we have 19 boroughs and they're all unique in someway, most boroughs in Montreal proper look more or less the same, but some boroughs were forcefully incorporated back in the early 2000s which still kept their former city's street signs, aesthetics and even colours, for some reason. I guess in this specific way, London is sort of similar

That's quite interesting tbh. I live on a street which is split between 2 cities who are also in two diffrent provinces. We actually face similar situations. If you gave an accident and you need an ambulance you have to know which side of the street you are on cause depending on where you are there has to come a different ambulance. If the wrong one comes they will either charge you a ridiculous amount or they will give you first aid but refuse to take you to the hospital.... i mean 😅

Typographical correction: Tower Hamlets does not use a variant of Times New Roman but of Goudy, which is a respectable and quite beautiful (if not quirky) typeface from around 1919. I agree that the kerning on the street signs is abysmal.

Ikr! Why can't London get back to an elegant public realm (and architecture) that creates a sense of place and, at the very least, is compatible with its historic character? One thing that ticks me off is the utilitarian street lights that are replacing the decorative ones (such as the Victorian pedestrian light).
