And they still have it. Sadly I have never seen them live with Cliff which is a big regret, but I saw them last month in Italy. They still have it. And James sounds amazing even at nearly 60.
but lars cant actually do the drum parts off "and justice for all" live anymore
@@camco7829 yeah he is nearly 60 too. The parts of some of the AJFA songs are going to be physically challenging. But he seems to have learned how to count and the songs they play he is actually playing tighter now and on time.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read The guy did Morse code for SOS on bass drums in "One" recording. Definitely he did forget this knowledge.
Hetfield definitely does also upstroke (alternate pick) just like any other guitar player, but there's so much downpicking in their style and riffs that it might seem sometimes like he only downpicks.
You need powerful downstrokes for riffs like in Master Of Puppets, and you need fast alternate picking for songs like One and Battery. All depends on the riff. Het's a master of both. 🤘🏼🔥
They are still incredible live. Sound just like the albums. You need to watch Enter Sandman or Creeping Death live from Moscow
Every band is different, but IMO Metallica reactions should be a double feature. Lyric video FIRST then the live or music video SECOND, back to back.
Heard this song many times but For the longest time I didn't realize the intro was played on a bass.
when i 1st heard this on the bass..i never knew a bass could sound like that....if i knew that i would have never sold my bass years before. Cliff was the Jimi Hendrix on the bass guitar.
You need to check out Creeping Death live in Seattle, one of the greatest live performances ever
I think Creeping Death performances were better in '86-87, a bit faster and Hetfield was still headbanging like an absolute beast.
I caught Metallica in the late 80s. One of the handful of 80s bands I really dug and they didn’t disappoint. Energy all out. These were the days with minimal security and one could basically walk in with whatever they want. They were the last of the “good ole days”. Great reaction
If you wanna react to a really cool live performance, I would recommend either Creeping Death or Enter Sandman live in Moscow 1991. The concert was a historical event after the fall of the Soviet Union and the crowd was just insaine.
I don't think many understand how lucky that crowd was to witness this.
Yes, I was 14 at the time and easily could have seen this lineup, but sadly didn't. God to go back in time and see this!😢
The official crowd count in Moscow was 1.6 million but it is estimated to be closer to 2.3 million.
I remember clearly the day Cliff passed, I was a sophomore in high school. So amazing. What a loss.
As I recall, a lot of Cliff ‘Em All concert vids were from Cliff’s dad’s home videos of the band. Limited sound quality on those old camera microphones.
I never get tired of that bunny-hop in the background, as Kirk is wailing away, at the end.
SyedBhai; you have so many top notch Metallica live performances in front of you 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘….many of them will blow you away in pure amazement 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘. I saw them live last month in Copenhagen….they just killed it despite being 60 years this year / next year 🔥🤘🔥🤘
This reaction brought me to your channel. You nailed it! Look forward to checking out your catalog.
If you want to see an really awsome live concert you should look at the 1989 seattle remastered. They are a little older and with jason on bass. But dam thats a show
I was there Day on the green Oakland Cali great times man, Hedfield probably wrote this b4 he was 21 we hear the finish work at this point. TIME MARCHES ON! ON! ON!......
Saw them with Cliff
Holy Crap I never looked at the bass guitar the same
I saw Metallica live in ‘08 and it was absolutely insane. The energy is reciprocated back and forth between the band and the crowd until both are about to explode. The harder they play the more frenzied the crowd becomes which just makes the band want to play even harder.
I’ve seen dozens of bands live over the years and Metallica takes the top spot over all of them. Tool is easily a very close 2nd, but Metallica was special. I remember going to work the day after their show and I still had no voice from all the yelling and screaming we had done.
You want energy?! After you get around to reacting to Metallica's "Creeping Death"... another track from their 1984 "Ride The Lightning" album/studio version (hopefully 🤞), a MUST WATCH, is their performance at Moscow '91- six years later, is freakin' EPIC. They were all 27-29.
Thanks for taking your time with these Metallica reactions. 👊🤘
Pure metallica perfection is what it is
dont forget the roskilde denmark 86 with cliff burton its shaky but the intensity was the bomb
Rest well cliff Burton we'll see you in Valhalla brother
This is actually a great, metaphorical poem by John Donne in the early 1600s.
It begins with the famous line, “No man is an island…”
For Whom the Bell Tolls
By John Donne
No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
Cliff was the one with writing skills early on (he died in 1986, 3 years and 3 albums in metallica). when they made the S&M album (much later)there was sort of a PR lie that Metallica was just a small time band there did not know how to read notes, but they newer told in that, Cliff surly did know how to write music and wrote most of the first 3 albums.
Try: Orion, from Metallica, and pleas notice the bass solo along with the guitar solo.
How raw and energetic
Great performance of the band with Cliff, they were still young here and building a following in these early days, be interested to see what you think of For Whom The Bell Tolls "S and M 1" version, (performed in 1999) they play with a symphony and it has a much more grand and mature sound, it's just epic and probably one of the best live performances.
@Syed:
(Assuming that you haven't already done so)If you'd like to take a deeper dive into Cliff's pre-Metallica roots, check out stuff he did with Trauma
This is a great example of why it's better to listen to studio versions first. Live versions offer a lot in terms of energy and variety, but rarely is the sound quality or technicality as good as in the studio (no ringing bell for instance). You wisely did the studio version first, and your channel continues to be a model for others to follow.
Burton is running electric bass through distortion and wah pedals. It's easier to have a "clear" distorted sound on a 6-string electric guitar and still be able to play fast lines. But a bass is usually very fuzzy when distorted. Playing fast, it all gets muddy. Burton was a badass though, so what he is doing in the video is cool regardless.
Anyone spot the beer bottle being thrown and James flips them off? lol
You're a good listen and watch! - I recommend ''Victim of Changes'' by Judas Priest from the album Unleashed In The East
Another live performance by them is from Seattle 1996
They were just peak metal at that time
FYI is cliffs BASE that was making that Distortion Sound And yeah the Early Metallica Is best
Do a reaction to "The think that should not be" Seattle 1989..... Their Pure Prime era ❤️👑
🤩👌💥💯▶️
#metalupyourass
Pure classics footages with Cliff Bee on 'em.
🤘😎 🇫🇮 💙
"Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 by Nightwish???
You should consider doing some more both Metallica, and their more recent live shows, personal favorite for me in The Thing That Should Not Be. Both studio and in Seattle 1989 and Barcelona 2019
They were in their early 20's
And Justice For All is their last great album
It has a lot of Cliff's soul in it
Greatest bass player ever.
this is the best one to view
Dude, you've got a voice for radio
How random was Cliffs death ,by that I mean ,the way it happened. .....crazy.
I saw them with Cliff, twice.
That distortion was Cliff.
whats distorted is the bass, and its a live wah pedal. bro its live there is no "mix"
Hot,hungry, broke, mad at the world!! That's my Metallica. You can keep short haired rich Metallica. 🤟
Is Metallica good live? Um…who wants to tell him? Lol🤘🏼🔥💛
Back in that era Hetfield was known as having the fastest right hand in the biz. Using all, or predominately all down strokes is hard for anybody. It gives the chord or riff a lower, powerfull, thicker sound because you are striking the lowest note first, every time. The riff has a repetative dynamic, rather than the alternating sound of a down-up stroke.
He still has the fastest hand in the biz, as well as an incredible attack
If you really want to be scared. Do Slayers most famous song written by guitarist Jeff Hannaman. ANGEL OF DEATH. A true statement of horror of the Holocaust. An absolute genius of musicianship. Metal is not noise. We play real instruments! We can cover classical music! No other genre of music can!
Great reaction man but if you want something live from metallica it’s the seattle 1989 that concert is legendary some songs were better than the studio version their performances in that period was fire
I'm 99.99 percent sure that this comment s already there but: Cliff's hair need it's own reaction video.
About Spanish civil war
The non musician way to explain Cliff is: he played Bass like it was a lead guitar. James play rhythm guitar and vocals, Kirk lead guitar.
original pre famous time it was also with Dave mustane Frontman of Megadeath instead of Kirk Hammond as lead guitar^^
Want lyrics? Try One from And Justice for All.
Cliff!!!
James have a lot of great lyrics.
Moscow was 1.6 million!
I know you get tons of requests, but try Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction.
man back in 1985-86 Metallica made me & all my friends feel so dumb, bc we worshipped them we were like "well, they're couple yrs older than us, so we'll accomplish something great by time we're all 21-23" ff few yrs(now MOP came along by then & was even better) so, Metallica were still makin us look like straight dumbasses lol 🤘🏻🥰
1.6 million in Moscow dude..
more Metallica please!
Ha I think you missed that was the bass player at the start, not the guitar.
Cliff was dat dude..
Master of puppets
Is a Bass guitar no regular, kill to the yugular, check Rolling👅Stones music video 🔥RESPECTABLE🔥🎼🎩🎸🎶🎶🎧
Did he just call the bass a guitar?
React "Ride The lightning" sonho Metallica
Bro it's bass guitar distortion. Other bassists can't pull that shit off
I know the Grateful Dead is a wormhole you may not even be interested in, and i would not ask you to venture into it without a guide who is NOT a fanaticle deadhead. You dont want one of those. You will be listening to shitty music and told its "Nessun Dorma". TBS, Just try one. You will love it. GD "Eyes of the World" Live 1975 from the album "One from the Vault", They play very well, and are on top of their game ---- at least that night. Thanks.
"Ciff Em All"??? Lol...Edit, mate.
One of the guitars (James' I think) is out of tune. That might be what you're hearing that's bugging you
Can you please react to One
That's not a guitar look again lol.
Hip hop? You kids haven’t grown up with real hip hop…real rap has been dead since 2000….clowns in woman’s clothes barely able to speak IS NOT HIP HOP
