Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good that display looks? All five look fantastic together (the KFC Horrorcons are so underrated).
There is a rocker on the back paws in croc mode btw for anyone who thought that was disappointing and there’s a screw that will completely tighten the hips outward movement if yours are a little floppy or start to get there

Funny, I was also struck by the different color of the hip joint, but in my case I actually like it. To me it adds a layer of detail/contrast. It’s as if you’re seeing an internal mechanism - the same way brake shoes/pads are often a different color than the wheel. Personal preference, etc etc. Nice review, looking forward to getting mine.

FT never fails to deliver on sculpt and paint. I’m not sure how much of a redesign if at all this is from the original render but I just don’t understand the ball joints for the shoulders when his brethren both have ratchets, I can only think it’s for articulation in alt mode. I was hoping they’d redesign the headmaster port to improve head articulation in robot mode which they haven’t which is a shame. The alt mode head does tab into the back securely though (TMReviews). I’m still happy to be getting this guy soon to complete the set.

I opened mine yesterday, held off on watching your video until after I did. It's funny, I was super excited seeing him out of the box, until I noticed the ball-jointed shoulders. I genuinely felt disgusted at it. Couldn't help but feel it was something to expect from a Hasbro mainline figure, not a 3rd party masterpiece one. What chance does it have of holding up over time compared to a ratcheted joint, or even some kind of more robust universal? If it was to allow greater range of motion for Croc-legs, why not do something akin to Hydra's shoulders? The white balls at the hips do catch my eye too, but I can overlook those much easier. On the bright side, I do think it is lovely to look at and enjoyable when I box away my feelings over the shoulders, & you're right, it does have an Iron Dibot feel to it, probably in no small part due to the calve/tail engineering. Thanks for another great review.
Did anyone ever get Chomp or any other FT product that didn't have a qc sticker out of the box? Mine didn't and don't know if the store I bought it from took it off or something?

Every time I hear Bobby say "Sword" I think about the people it triggers and my mind shifts to Palpatine saying "Use your aggressive feelings boy. Let the hate flow through you." Unfortunately the gerbil running the wheel in my head then doesn't catch what Bobby says next and I have to go back the few seconds to rewatch where he goes.

I had not noticed the white hips. Cannot unsee that now. What did grind my gears in that same fashion is the hands being a different pink from the rest of it.
The Fanstoys figures are always of great quality, you can feel it, I agree that the price is unjustified. they took this direction by taking advantage of the passion of collectors. If they want to play incorrectly then KO S are welcome

So what your saying is because retailers are charging more for fans toys than other companies, fans toys should have their work stolen, their buisness collapse, start inceasing their prices and stop producing figures in the future as a result? Couldnt disagree more. If you want cheaper prices, you could try import your own figures from overseas or start collecting alternative pieces like Hasbro. Hasbro are literally producing cheaper alternatives of all of these characters for years. The retailers increase fans toys prices more because they need to cover their buisness loses from various things including increases in taxes, shipping, collector complaints and figure replacements from defects - tiny defects or self caused inclusive. It frustrates me when I see people complain about good quality products because of price because everyone knows when the retailers sell out, the secondary market - ie collectors - will increase the price to sell to each other dramatically. So we're allowed to increase the price even more than the retailer because we deserve to earn money from the producer's work, but fans toys should work for a much lower profit margin? If the product is good quality, why shouldnt the producer deserve the money for their hard work? Dont we all deserve money from hard work? People who complain about the price are probably the same people who complain when fans toys doesnt put out a new design every month. Yeah like producing an origional design every month is cheap! 😂 ok sure

It is Fans toys that raise prices, not retailers, it is Fanstoys who want to charge "Chomp" more than "Road King" despite the latter's quality being superior. It is Fanstoys who reissues the inseticons at a disproportionate price. I love the quality of Fanstoys and paid Roadking $ 170 from Showz in 2020 and I think that price is fair! Nobody says that good work does not have to be paid but if you raise prices in this senseless way you are kidding me, my salary has always remained the same from 2020 to today. So they raise their prices because they know they're going to sell them anyway and they don't give a damn if you complain or not, they just do it to inflate their pockets. They could simply increase the number of productions without exaggerating with the increase, as they would always and in any case be sold out. But you buy as well, good for you😂

Any paint chipping like Tesla 2.0? That was the only let down of that figure and hopefully FT doesn’t fall into that issue going forward. Oof posted right at the end and he mentioned it as I was typing. Lol
I’ve transformed mine 10 or so times and very minimal paint chipping, there’s some on the inner leg armature but it’s hardly noticeable ever

Ball joint shoulders aren't acceptable to me on an MP. It's not okay when XTB does it, so I can't give FT a pass. Nice that your Decepticon Headmasters are completed, I'm happy for you in that regard.

Even at the current high level of pricepoints this seems overpriced I agree. Essentially no accessories other than the gun but asking for ~$200. It's a slight shame cause I think this figure would have a much more positive review all around if priced lower

WOW. That shelf of Decepticon Headmasters looks absosmurfinlutely AMAZING!! Now Maketoys needs to get their shells back in gear and finish up the Autobot Headmasters.
I agree about this being reminiscent of the Iron Dibots, and it will look very good on my animal shelf with them and the other headmasters amongst others.

I Cant wait to get this guy. Not even a headmaster fan, but love his modes. And that paint!! NOT looking forward to paying his price tag tho. I’m hoping they do an updated WeirdWolf also.
100% an old model, you can tell by the double jointed elbows and the square hands, I will be happy to have it though and I hope FT rereleases FT-18 Lupus so I can complete the Decepticon Headmasters.

Ankle tilt on the front legs, but not on the back? Big miss there too. As usual they are staying in their lane. For better or worse. And you are so right about the price point.

I have to admit that now that we have reissues from FT all the time and after years with the preorder I don't care a bit about chomp
What I've seen in videos online so far (don't have mine yet) it looks like the panels on the inside of the legs are getting knocked out by pushing on the rear croc feet on the back of the legs as he is handled. Of course that is something that happens completely naturally as he is grabbed.
The mess on the back seems to be largely accurate to the toon model. The piece on the upper part of the calf was green, and obviously no screws, but the rest looked the same.
Are the hands supposed to be a different color from the forearms and legs?
Still not sure why they used ball pegs for the shoulders. It doesn’t seem needed. I really hope that’s not going to become a new theme for them and this is just a one-off.

With the alt mode having an actual cockpit and canopy on the head it looks more like a zoid. Lol.
I don't like the yellow headmaster connector port
It feels as if this was an old design FT decided to release. Using 2 balls for the hip joint stands out from all that linear design then they compound the issue with the color change. Other than that glaring issue, it looks good.
Wow, first thing i notice was those balljoint hips, reminds me of mp13 hips , just fugly, ft needs to update these old molds b4 they put it out.

Really good review as usual!!!, just you didn't put the alligators head in the right position in robot mode.
Reserving final judgment till I have it in hand, but ball peg shoulders on an mp, especially one of this price I find insulting.
Finally a professional review, some dude came out with a 📹 yesterday and I couldn't even finish watching it he was soooo horrible that if he was infront of me I probably would've smacked either him or the figure for destroying the transformation 🤣🤣, yeah man he looks AMAZING but a 5yr old mold (i know po's came out in 2018 but im pretty sure the design started at least a yr or 2 b4 that) at $240-$250 is like u say imo "the juice ain't worth the squeeze", hes the same price as Soundwave that's crazy u get 1 gun and a tail that turns to a sword I'm good, ill just w8 4 a clearance or till the price drops...he looks awesome in ur display Mack 🙏🙏📹 and thanku for being honest about everything u get or really dont get with him👍

You know, with the semi-wizardry they used to make the legs look clean in both modes, I'm gonna forgive most of the nitpicky stuff. Yeah, the hips look off, but I've seen worse. He still looks great overall.

Another good( not their best at all but good) product by Fans Toys. I do wish they did something different instead of just having the head go back on that hinge. I really thought they would be the company to not do that. They know they are the most desired and the best MP company out there right now. Hopefully their menasor is good. Im going with DX9 on that. Because well. I got 3 of the car bots for the price of Smokey.
Do you get the sense that this is sort of a good proof of concept type deal, in case they do a new dinobot design at some point?

This may be my first buyer’s remorse FT purchase. They played us with this price. It’s so obvious via the design and transformation that FT has been sitting on this guy for-ever! Bobby you are picking up old school FT and Dino it vibes because this looks like it was designed around then.
Not having the outward ratchet on those ball hips is unacceptable. Not having rockers on the back two feet of gator mode, also unacceptable.
I’m not a fan of paying a “complete you team premium” and feel that FansToys has taken advantage of us all on this release.
$230…nah FansToys. You gotta come better than this.

Given that there are now KOs lined up of many of FT's releases, even despite their plan to blacklist anyone who sells them, it's gonna make it really hard for them to justify their high markups just as it'll be difficult for them to put off releasing reissues. The really troubling part will be if the KOs actually update aspects of their dated designs as they've indicated they will. At that point, the "premium" paint and QC sticker really wont justify 3-4x the asking price over the KOs.

Most def Bobby. As you stated, there are ratchets that have the smaller, closer teeth that allow you to pull off more than your typical A stance, the I gotta pee stance or full Van Damme. At $230, that’s premium figure territory.

I'll admit the pearl white with the hip joints is offputting for me as well, and I agree, hip ratchets to the sides should have been done. With that said, I love what they did with the rest of it that I can forgive those small issues, even for its price point. Thanks for the great video, Bobby!

He looks great but I'm not buying him. I put the money towards Zeta's Raiden instead. This is way too expensive, and I guarantee the paint won't hold up long-term (assuming it's not flaking right out of the box). So was Tesla 2.0.
But I paid full price for Tesla 2.0 and even managed to get a $40 refund after the fact, and I still feel ripped off. I've bought several FansToys figures recently, and every single one of them has had paint chipping right out of the box (which gets worse when you transform them or pose them). Perceptor was the worst.
When I saw the Tesla 2.0 reviews with the tight joints, I didn't think it'd be a bit deal, but it's awful. It's the opposite of too loose, and equally as disappointing.
Mine has scrapes and paint chips everywhere. The transformation seems like it should be intuitive but there are some steps that don't feel good, and others that aren't even in the damn manual.
I might still buy their minibots since nobody else is doing those right now (and the existing options for most of them just suck), but otherwise, I'm done with FansToys.
What's the point in looking pretty if the paint just flakes off because it's not properly applied? And that's putting aside how un-fun some of them are. It's just a damn shame.
For the price these cost, the quality control should be PERFECT, but it's almost as much of a joke as X-Transbots' QC.
Who else is there for Masterpiece? MMC is busy making small combiners (they're good, but they're small), X-Transbots is busy screwing up everything whilst have 60+ unreleased figures, and Takara can't put out a figure that doesn't break itself.
