Thanks Again!!!
I’m a longtime follower and fan of Bobby’s reviews. Keeping it 100 though, while I value his opinions on the figures themselves after years of watching his reviews, I’ve come to the point where I fast forward through his transformations. It’s simply going through the motions to get from point A to point B, not a transformation method that’s meant to be replicated at home by us. And that’s ok! There are other TF reviewers I watch if I need help with transformations, and Skullface ain’t that. The number of figures he’s broken on camera is a testament to that as well.
I 100% felt his pain and frustration having a paint scratch on the front of a figure, BUT, I’ve also never shook a figure in my hands mid transformation out of frustration with the engineering. That’s just asking for a bad time. Lastly, it appears the scratch took place off camera, making this even more of an “individual results may vary”.
All in all, come for the hot takes, stick around to witness the carnage!
@@Scro10m Actually he says that he does the transformation not to show others how to do it, but to show how the raw experience is. He had explained that several times (You can see that in one of these "Love me, Love me not" videos where he gets a lot of criticism for his transformations). You can also watch another video for dummies on Bobby breaking things, I think he talks about it there as well.
@@bigfornoreason1 HA! I LOL’d at the caffeinated comment!
@@theragoooverlord5021 yeah that’s just not true. Again I’m a day one fan of Skully. He knows this.
But he also knows and would say if you asked him, if you are watching his reviews for the transformations, you are doing it wrong mack!
Yea. I rewatched the transformation a few times and cannot work out where that paint scratch came from. It's not present in any of the footage and I can't really work out how it would've happened seeing where the bit goes during the process
@@kiwijar_ hammer off screen 😂
19:47 Man, if you're having a hard time of it then just take a break. Have a whiskey. You can't just squeeze the figure between your hands and hope it transforms itself.
I watched you transform X-Transbots Commander Stack, and it looked like a misery. Then I watched EmGo transform the same figure, and it looked way easier. I've watched other people transform this figure, and after your comments at the end, I think maybe the problem is on your end.
I’ve transformed mine to altmode and back…I didn’t have any paint scratching or chipping BUT, I had a pin fall out on me, randomly (from one of the sliding diecast bars that holds the sides of the hood on)! I got it back in (so to speak) but It definitely left me feeling a way. This was my first issue with any FT…ever.
I had the same thing happen to mine!
Same pin fell out on mine. This figure was my very first Fans Toys figure. I got scared when half of the bot was hanging loose. That pin seems to be a common problem, poor design choice in my opinion...thank god I found it again to put it back in. Damn thing is small!
Same here for me. I thought it was a screw that had gotten loose and fell out and when I went to put it back in and realized it was a headed pin, my heart sank. I was able to keep in place somewhat to finish the transformation, but I had to constantly monitor it to make sure I was keeping it in place so the figure didn't come apart. Luckily, it holds in place once you get so far into the transformation going both ways. But still upsetting.
Staying calm while watching this is an achievement in meditation
Amusing to see FT's releases seemingly get better and easier to transform throughout the year, just to end on Jazz here where they fall back into old habits.
I've transformed mine a few times and I can honestly say I don't have the issues that some people are having. I think people should take a little time and patience when attempting transformation... it's not about forcing things into please it's aligning things into please
Just remember who's video your commenting on lol
I agree....sometimes people over complicate a transformation of bots. Take your time, smoke some weed, and enjoy your new toy....atleast that's what I'm doing🤣
@@houseoflamb5367 🤣🤣👍
@@asaphmartinez4225 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ha!
The over engineering on this figure breaks my heart. I saw the FT video and said "why?" The bot mode is on point, and that's how he will be displayed. Jazz is my guy (favorite Autobot). I have the Maketoys version, but it's the toy version with all the decals. I want the toon one, so still picking up FT-Jive for sure. He does look great in bot mode.
Hammer Hands Bobby strikes again
Can loosen the screw in the armpit so the tightness doesn’t pull the figure apart, very helpful
Bro my shoulders were so tight I had to loosen both of them and they're still tight but not as bad as out of packaging
Inexcusable at this price point...
@@williamkious5349 yeah but overly tight joints is definitely nothing new for this company, at all
All I can say is thank you for sacrificing your paint so I don’t have to sacrifice mine. Guess I’ll just have to settle for transforming downbeat into alt mode.
Wow. That transformation made me glad I bought a Downbeat.
I'm here for the carnage.
I will keep make toys Jazz. Thanks for this video. Sorry you had to go through that, Bobby
G1 Jazz - fold out arms. Pull car in half. Bend hood down 90 degrees.
Fanstoys - reduce to loosely connected string of molecules. Awkwardly smash back together until robot is eventually achieved.
I think the stability and transformation killed this one for me, though I cannot deny the robot is lovely. Veerrrry much looking forward to the Maketoys head-to-head now.
BOBBY! Thanks for doing these for us....the people (said in Bane's voice). I will not Transform it. You saved me man and I thank you!
Great review Bobby. Tight as a tiger my friend. Happy Christmas to you and your family
When the chest came apart it looked like a face with it's mouth open 😂
I can see Stitch's (Disney character) face there 😂
Jazz' chest wanting to eat some energon burgers.
I don't know if I missed it, but can this guy be displayed in bot mode with his 'door wings?'
Yes I've seen other video of his door wings out.
I love Bobby's videos, but I do feel that the paint chip was in part due to his rush to get the video out before Christmas. That transformation was chaotic to say the least, but it is a valid concern and one that a lot of people may encounter if they do not take their time when transforming not just this, but potentially any painted figure.
I went back to try and pin point when it happened. It was during the off camera bit. So we may never know the exact cause.
@@EvilCerealBoX the earliest i see it starting to chip is at 19:36 but it looks like its worse near the end when Bobby notices it.
@@wdavis81x I see it as well. But at 16:58 you can see the area briefly. I don't see the chip until later.
We're gonna do that detective work and figure it out.
@@EvilCerealBoX literally looks like it rubbed off from his thumb and that sucks if that's what happened.
@@wdavis81x the paint was made to endure thumbs size M or L, but Bobby's are XXL. 😅🤐
I agree with your critics.
Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.
Your transformations are as graceful as a butterfly dude ha. Love your commentary, but holy shit... get someone who knows what they're doing to transform these pieces for you. Regardless, much appreciated....
I've never heard your voice frustrated and disappointed like that before, no body wants to have paint chipping on their beautiful transformers masterpiece collection like that, thanks for the review man! I will be aware for any paint chipping when I'll get my FT-48.
This holiday season I'm thankful Jazz comes in bot mode. Thanks for the review. That transformation...ouch!
Yeah, after seeing that leg transformation, he will stay in bot mode.
Jive has design issues and the FT official tutorial video makes the transformation look easier than it is. Issues include having a pin come out while sliding the chest, the shoulder rotation being far to tight, and the tabs from the roof getting stuck during reverse transformation. Where the wheel is pinned under the hood is also a fragile spot to look out for. I don't mind complex transformations, but this guy feels like he's gonna break.
My pin with the chest slide came out during transformation.
I almost never transform my MP figures unless they come in alt mode, because I really do not enjoy transforming them, I sometimes do it out of necessity. I spent too much money risking these sort of things from happening. On the other hand, I appreciate Bobby that he goes out of his way transforming these expensive figures. His reviews are non biased and straight to the point, that is why I love his videos.
Every emotion, every experience, every step Bobby experienced in this video I also experienced with mine while doing my review. The frustration with the transformation came out as disappointment towards the overall figure, which is too bad, because the figure by itself in each mode looks great, but that transformation just takes all the joy out of it
What the hell was that transformation? Seems like they saw XTB Fuzz and thought: "Whoa, that's an overcomplicated car bot... Let's make one even worse."
Fannnnnnns Toys!! G1 or go home do you think this will last long? Whole main series 1 cast before going back to more detailed panel line G1 inspired better display options? Have a great Christmas you and family and a memorable 2023
I think RUclips is trolling…. Just as you discover the paint damage and express disappointment…. My RUclips flips to an advert for headache pills! 😂 You take point for the pain so I don’t have to! (Hopefully anyway, when mine arrives).
Wow, this have to be one of the most emotional frustrating transformation I have ever seen. I’m a big fan of your unbiased and honest opinions and really felled your frustration true-out the whole video. I have seen the video made by FT and knew the transformation would be difficult. I also seen transformation by another reviewer and that looked much better. Maybe next time put the figure away and go back to it another time., instead of keep squizing pieces into place. Anyways, I will be very careful when I get my copy, so thanks for that. The scratch is a real shame and I feel for you. Merry Christmas and happy newyear
Fanstoys catching xtransbots problems on this one!
Dude, just ask FT for a replacement part to get the chipped paint back. It wont cost much to get it fixed, if anything, just time waiting on the piece, and you sending an email....I do it all the time when i get damaged from transformation or from the get go or even part disintegrating just with time...
Transformation frustration aside, it's kind of amazing to me that 40 years later the solution for the arms in vehicle mode is basically the same...
yep, I dont think they can go anywhere else, LOL.
This transformation makes me feel like it's an older design, altho the sculpt says otherwise. Espeically coming after trailbreaker, mirage, preceptor, cerebros and huffer, it stands out.
I'm sure there are finer ways to tackle the transformation than Bobby's big hands man-handling it, but still the design really should have been more user-friendly
Big fan of the channel, but gotta say: Had Jive for a few days. Transformed it back and forth a few times, and it's not nearly as bad as it's made to look unless you are actively manhandling and rushing it. Take your time, work with it. Its a complicated piece definitely, but it's pretty intuitive after a few runs through.
Also that paint scratch happened from mishandling 100%. Unless you're mashing it, there's nothing in the transformation that pushes anything against that painted piece to scratch it in the first place.
Thanks for the review. Mine will be here soon and I’ll be extra careful.
You ain’t neva lied Skully lol ordered my fig on Wednesday it arrived today
Sorry! To hear that!! But I definitely understand! Yeah, I agree! This stuff can be frustrating forsure!! I almost want to throw that crap out the window once I scratch it or stress the plastics.. These figures are jusr way too expensive. Really Really sucks! It messes up your whole day! Especially at these prices.
I have Agent Meister and probably will get Fanstoys too! Hehehe. Because I love Jazz!
19:19 (I'm real close to giving this a toss)
19:52 (I'm gonna do this off camera before I throw this thing across the room)
ahahahahaha!😃😄😁😂🤣
Sorry to hear you had problems with transforming it. That reminded me of the time I bought a Takara Ratchet from a second hand store. It chipped so much during transformation I thought it was snowing.
I bought my Ratchet new,and it didn't take long for it to chip and flake. Was about to buy him some Head and Shoulders shampoo 😹
Masterpiece Ratchet chips without even touching it, I'm pretty sure. Every time I look at mine, it has more paint chipping.
Jazz quoting Paint chipping snowing flurry in a hurry!
Jive in this comparison pic, looks more heroic.
I agree 100%. The transformation wouldn’t be so bad if it would actually stayed tabbed in. I have the exact same tabbing issues in alt mode. The hood, where the windshield connects to the drivers door. Press one in, the other pops out. Ugh Fanstoys… Id been waiting a while for this one.
There's a fix on TFW2005 which'll help the front to the alt mode to stay together.
@@UnChannelDuVulpineX do you have a link?
Is Fanstoys like refusing to do Decepticons?
Feels like we've gotten nothing but Autobots this year.
And yes, I know we got Skullcruncher in January
Bobby "loves paint but hates paint chips, hard to have one without the other" Face!
In all seriousness though, I'm bummed for you Mack.
I can see these breaking due to overly complicated transformation
I was gutted for you mate. I’ll be following your advice here, just like I have for Arcee
The audio alone on this video causes finger pain.
You couldn’t even SEE half of the transformation because he just didn’t care to correct his camera. That’s the saddest part of the whole video besides him trying to muscle everything into place. I have the figure and it’s not nearly that hard.
I'm sorry...but any time I see the word "Jive", all I can think of is Airplane! and Barbara Billingsley :) Great name for a 3rd party Jazz though!
Thank you for the review. Sorry your figure got scratched. Honestly, you probably saved a bunch of people the disappointment you had by sharing yours. I’ll keep mine in robot mode and use Maketoys in car. Thanks again.
Quit jivin' me, turkey! You got to sass it!
Too much nice glossy paint on a complicated tramsforming figure is a recipe for disaster. But then we all love nicely painted figures...
That comparison shop makes the FT look so much nicer imo, I don’t collect MP scale much at all these days but I’m tempted by him
Nice. Glad it has flaws. Means the price will drop on this figure in a month. I will entertain it when it drops below 100.
that flippy central section on the torso is pretty clever
The only problem I had are the pin screws that fell out from the metal bars, other than that everything transformed like butter, I put thread locker in the pins and transforned it 2 more times after that, still got all my paint, lol, the white flap in the chest is on a double hinge, it will flip all the way over.
Last time I felt this bad for Bobby was when he smashed FT hydras canopea.
Holy fucking shit!
Remember when Apollyon or Forrager was the worst transformations out there?
I'll stick with my old-ass MMC
That's a rough one. I thought we were about to see some additional footage to the "Bobby's biggest breaks video". Good job. You have waaaay more patience that me bud.
I dont get why the transformation for Jazz has to be so hard I'm definitely not in for this figure
Are u considering moving jive after this frustrating process?
I got Jive in last week and this is one of FT best figures by far.
i just came here for the transformation. boy this is aomething, huh? 😂
I'm sorry your figure got that scratch. I hate when that happens. I tried to see where in the video the scratch happened, but it wasn't on screen. Definitely when you tried to solidify the whole bodywork. I wonder if you can ask your friend that customizes figures to paint it in silver instead of gray. 🤔 It will fix the issue and look better than matte gray I think. Thanks for the video!
Looking forward to a FT vs. MT video.
When I saw fanstoys transformation video I new it was a red flag to transform it. It's a beautiful figure though and on the shoulder joint tmreviews put a video out to loosen them up. Feel for you bro it's a beautiful and expensive piece to have damaged.
I'm still cool with my Coolsville. Silver > gray. Best car mode. Way cheaper. Slightly easier transformation.
Jive can go the way of Detective.
Love your reviews bobby boy. It seems to me the steady progress that fans toys had, has hit a ceiling with how much they can improve. Where other companies may not make a product as "good" we see how companies like MMC or Dx9 improve so they inherently make them more interesting in the collector sphere to talk about. But that is just my opinion.
I’ll agree the transformation was not what I would consider fun. Especially getting it back to bot mode. But honestly have no idea how he got the paint chip there due to transformation. It’s on the outer part of the shin that doesn’t contact anything else during transformation.
Man I knew this transformation looked fiddly. When I saw it looked like you were in a rush to get this video out, I feared the worst, and then it happened. Fans toys still needs the map and compass, but the looks and finishes are beautiful enough where I can forgive them for it. they lose the playability point here, but I don't have the time to play with them anyway. Hope they can continue working on better transformation tolerances for future releases!
You nailed my sentiments perfectly. The look and feel of a Fanstoys figure is just enough to forgive their transformations and squeaky joints.
Honestly, I like to transform my figures, so none of that is enough to forgive them as far as I'm concerned. Lacklustre articulation, paint chipping, poor tolerances (which seems to be common with FansToys because most of the FansToys figures I have are overly tight) and, in many (but not all) cases, poor engineering for transformation.
Now that they're also making them overly cartoony, it's enough to make me lose interest. The only interest I still have in this is that it's Jazz...
@@GareWorks fair enough, I can understand how you would feel differently. I think in this instance the chipping was due to Bobby using the big hands though, you're not guaranteed to chip it if you're careful. And I feel the articulation on this fella is very good for my purposes.
Do you care if the figure transforms, even though you don't play with it?
@@TheMattTrakker interestingly enough, yes, because that's where my love for the franchise is grounded. I love the engineering that goes into them. Back before when roadking came out I remember staring at the two modes thinking how the heck is this thing gonna turn into that. What a reveal. But I have thought more about getting statues or non transforming figures than ever before because of the display presence. I'm hoping the ft combiners scratch that display presence itch. What are your thoughts?
looks like a transformation nightmare the clicking crunchy sounds not good but the look is pretty good
Please do comparison with Maketoys Jazz.
As soon as I'd done my 1st transformation both ways I knew this would be an interesting watch. After a few more it's better but it's fiddly, doesn't flow well at all and if you don't get the legs all the way forward you are in for a really, really bad time. You experienced this. I'm mildly disappointed overall, I am swapping out as it fixes the issues I had with MT, especially the head/face sculpt, but it's not their best work by a wide margin. Final note the shoulder ratchets are way, way too strong and cause a lot of frustration.
You can loosen the screw for the rotation joint. Easy fix that takes 5 minutes. Also, make sure the shoulder is properly transformed.
That shouldn’t have happened (the scratch) but you are a little heavy handed with these things let’s be honest…. The good thing is, that’s a pretty easy fix with a little will and a little skill. It would piss me off too tho bro. Don’t let it ruin your week, I’m sure you can sort that and have a Merry Christmas 🎄
I have to Zeta Toys Jazzy, it's horrible to get into car mode but looks and feels amazing. But I will never transform it out of alt mode again.
So this Jazz is kinda perfect for me, even if I treat it like a non-transforming figure.
I love Zeta Jazz. He's not so toon and fits with the older MP aesthetic. Total POS though, transformation is absolutely awful looked like it snowed after my 1st transformation... Completely soured me on Zeta forever. Still He's in bot mode looks fine and I'm not replacing him with another pain in the blank transformation.
@@GibDozer1 yeah, horrible transformation. I love the alt mode though. In hand it feels more like my childhood toys than anything else.
06:10 - Jazz's chest makes the cutest face
That paint chipping ....man I felt so bad for you.. that sucks Bobby
I used my spudger for the knees.
That got pretty tense for a minute. Appreciate you hanging in there, Bobby. When Fans Toys gets one right, it's a thing of beauty. But some of their transformations can break you.
Looks like I'll be keeping my Downbeat after all...
Looking forward to a vs with maketoys. The MT is simply one of the greatest masterpiece TFs of all time, probably top 5. Even without credit for the age gap, I'm not sure the FT beats it.
Just can't get over Jazz's grill having a grill.. It's smiling at cha!
I don't think I need to replace my Downbeat. It's nice and all but..
Most people think its a tolerance issue when they are simply just not transforming the figure correctly. Look at the manual again. If it feels like you have to force it you're not doing it right.
I'm sticking with MT, the transformation looks like a pain in the ass
That was fast.
Man, I don't know about this one. Unlike Mirage, I don't think I'll cancel it, because the other Jazz options aren't exactly great either (and I like Jazz a lot), but after watching the FansToys videos and now this one, it looks unnecessarily fiddly. I feel like a lot of companies really overcomplicate Jazz, and this one could be the worst in that regard. I still think there's a lot to be said for the simplicity of the older Masterpiece figures like the Datsuns. In fact, Jazz would work well with the Datsun engineering, with only minor tweaks (primarily for the legs).
Agreed on companies over complicated transformations of Jazz. The takara ss86 jazz had a very fun transformation. If they ever do a proper MP Jazz, they should borrow from that figure.
Totally agree. Jazz isn't that hard of a design
I have the TW/Zeta. I love it in both modes, but the transformation is absolutely awful. The SS86 transformation is great. The FT looks as bad as Zeta!
If we were able to get Jazz after the MP Datsuns then we would of had a great figure.
@@deang5386 idk how they could do that, but the offiiMp Datsuns are great and a ton better than this.
Bummer bro, I feel for ya.
Heart break Bobby.
I''ll be scooping this Jazz is one of my favorites and since he will permanently be displayed in bot mode the transformation sequence is a non issue. As long as Jazz is not as fiddly as Arcee for display I'm good.
whats worse bobby this nightmare or maketoys! bwahahahaha
Sorry, brother. That's a bad time. Won't be transforming this without a crapload of time to take each step extra careful. You hate to see it :(
Email FT with pictures. They might send out parts to replace the scratched parts.. they did for me with Tesla.
That sucks, but at least it was the grey paint and not the metallic blue. Grey should be much, much easier to touch up. Jazz is one of my favorites and I was waiting to see if FT would deliver, but this is just unacceptable for ~$140.
Ahh man, sorry to see your paint chipping on the shins. I've not seen any reviews yet where the hood of the car stays tight on that same side. Looks really frustrating, especially compared to some of their other releases this year.
Fans Toys Jazz and Mirage just validated my decision to wait for an official Takara release for both characters…I can’t stand FT’s over complicated transformation sequences and weird QC issues
That transformation was painful to watch
Good lord! That was extremely stressful just to watch. The plastic was screaming "RAPE"! But thank you for taking the bullet for the rest of us. It looks good but there are cheaper options that look just as good and I own two already not sure if I need this one.
I gotta ask why Tigertrack is never fully transformed in the comparison? His rear wing is always separated or his arms are sticking out. 24:07
Because he's just there for general scale comparison and Bobby doesn't give a fuck
