Just received a couple days ago. There’s something satisfying about how well built these figures are. I actually really like how stiff some of the joints are. I also enjoy the paint, much better in hand. I enjoy posing it but don’t plan on transforming it anytime soon. Excellent figure.
I just wanna say I appreciate you going over the out of the box configurations for FansToys figures. Showing us how they come out of the box and how to get them oriented how they should be. I don’t think many others do that and it really helps.
It does look good but by the time the Targetmasters/Headmasters got onto the scene, I just didn't care as much about the newly-introduced characters. At the time I did buy them all but it was mainly because they were Transformers and I compulsively had to check them off those "collect them all" booklets. This time around stopping before Season 4 is enough for my Masterpiece line. I do wish Fanstoys had made more headway into combiners or Metroplex/Trypticon before tackling the likes of Fortress Maximus.
I remember walking into a toy shop in the UK (which didn't get fort max) as hey had one in the window, and being crushed it was a competition prize. This looks great. The body is still a conundrum to me. I'm staring to look at what it would take to get this into the collection, as bonkers as it is. That slim hope I could make it work, it's a dangerous thought.

People not liking the colors but I have to say I Love it! The matte grey against the metallic eyes really does something for me! Bobby rarely gets a figure first but when he does he doesn’t disappoint! Can’t wait for mine! Fanstoys is absolutely crushing it!
@@alphatrion100 it’s accurate to the Japanese cartoon remember the US isn’t the only country In the world. I understand your “golden age” is before this iteration of cerebros but it is accurate to the source material. I believe a US version is rumored so hang in there..
If Fanstoys really wanted to impress me with this figure they should have also made him transform into his original alt mode before he became Fortress Maximus head that would have been impressive
What was he before? Neither the toy, Japanese cartoon nor the American cartoon show an alt mode before. Did the comics? Or did I miss something from the cartoons?
On the g1 show season 4 the rebirth episode 3 just before the episode end's they show his real alt mode i think he is supposed to be some sort of a cybertronian super computer that's the only time they show his original alt mode in a way he is a triple changer plus Cerebro is Spanish for brain

It looks pretty good but the price just doesn't seem remotely worth it to me. I'd still love for FansToys to reply to me so I can get replacement parts for the last four figures that arrived damaged, but nope...

Every time I see a review for a headmaster or powermaster where the Nebulon pops off so easily I'm reminded why I'm not going that far in my collection. It looks cool, but it seems like there are going to be problems.
And that Fortress's/Cerebros's version of the Master Sword is the Headmaster connection to the Maximus body...that's not only kinda ugly, it also just doesn't sit right with me. Doesn't make sense. Not sure what FansToys was thinking...especially for how pricey this is by itself.
@@DragoonMS Wasnt the Master sword connection come from the Jp Headmaster show? Pretty sure Cerebros would take the sword out of a console on board the ship and then transform into the head with the sword and then combine.
looking for a bigger house. Why? so I can fit maximus and metroplex in the same room. And may be a few years down the track, another room to fit trypticon and scorponok. and a spare double garage to fit scaled unicron in. 🤣 🤣 🤣
Every official image and video of his head mode never showed the top of the head. You showed it when handling it briefly, showing the robot legs and crotch are visible. Fan rag on gaps, panels, kibble and back packs until they are blue in the face. I would have thought that the top of his head with exposed robot mode legs would have at least made final thoughts. This is a premium product, I would have expected some panels to flip out to fill in the top of the head. Instead FT left it exposed like some Hasbro retail product. I'm disappointed because to me it appears FT tired to not show the top of the head and unless I put Fortmax on a shelf or eye level, the top of his head will be very visible.
For what he is and does it’s fine, it does what it says on the tin, both heads look great, and I love the paint on the sword. I like the more natural hands Does the grey chest piece in robot mode open up so you can see the stats, it looks like it can/should, or can you only see the stats by pulling the entire chest piece away from the body? Looking forward to receiving my copy in a few weeks but there is no chance I’m in on the body, no space and can’t justify a static robot the size of a child haha
Good Review. I am looking forward to getting this guy. I hope that we get the body sometime next year and it's not at the inflated FT prices. I for one like the G1 Headmaster gimmick and I am glad they put it in. I really dislike a sticker. I do think it was kind of a big oversight they didn't do something to keep him from popping off. I can't imagine that the sword will actually be a connection point if and when we get the body from them. I am looking forward to the FT Headmaster Reissues as I missed them prior. Now if we could just get DeadEnd and Menasor. So far they have been showing improvement over prior releases, granted this one doesn't have to pull off too much being a giant head.
It seems to me that the spring on the head socket is just a little too tight. Just a little more testing could have solved this. 2nd the sword plugs in to the notch under the chin. I think they can make it work as the connection point if they're careful but I'm afraid that it won't allow for articulation and I'm hoping they give us an option if the body actually gets made.

Kinda feels like one of those toon-accurate to a fault releases, where the lack of details, muted colors, and sculpt all make it seem rather lackluster to me. I'm sure the toon-accurate fans will absolutely love this, but I think I might just pass on it now.
Yeah I think if your at all interested in fort max *if it comes out you'll get it. I myself am not so it's an easy pass, but I am definitely intrigued to see how it all shapes up

It looks great, but I cancelled mine a week ago after I saw a digibash of this as Cerebros instead of Fortress. The Western version of the character, with the faceplate, is the one I really want, and seeing that digibash made me realise that this version of the figure would only ever be a placeholder for me. Given how few changes they have to make, I expect we'll see an announcement 6 to 12 months from now.

I don’t think FansToys will. The US version is like a different color palette, right? Like more darker greys and blues. It’s enough to warrant another Fort Max release with the US colors. An I don’t think people will switch out or double up because of how costly and huge this guy’ll be. Not enough payoff for a US release. Which is a bummer. I think FansToys might’ve gotten their money if they had originally split this release into 2. What I mean is like, theoretically lets say they made only 50 JP cerebroses. Afterwards, the fandom wants a US version too, which would warrant another run of 50. This’ll maybe sell like 10 because everyone bought up the JP version when it first went up. What I would’ve with the 50, is split it to where 25 be the JP version and the other 25 be the US version. An put them up at the same time and sweep in everybody who’s in on it
As the owner of a G1 Scorponok whose head will fly off if you look at it wrong, I absolutely did not need the spring-loaded chest stats gimmick to leak into MP figures.
The sword installs into the smaller hole. But the anime it plugs into the head slot. You got 369 likes I won't be breaking the lucky skull and bones numeral. But good review Robert. Fortress is the Mutha Frackin "Head" Honcho of the Headmasters Mang!
I hate to be a Debbie downer but IMO,i feel like he doesn't match the MT Headmasters as well as I thought. This is so toon while the MT Headmasters have sculpt details and in a way looks slightly stylized. But hey to each their own,if it doesn't bother you,you win.
Outside of the price, the reason I never go into Masterpiece is because the sound of plastic flexing is enough to give me a panic attack. Everything always sounds like it’s on the verge of breaking. It’s a good looking head though. Can’t wait to see it on the full body. How much will that cost? 🤔
I'm passing on the giant body as there's no room in the collection... I think I will add some minor panel lining to this figure in spots once I get it...
G1 toy/Japanese G1 anime Tech Spec Meter gimmick?? Cool but unnecessary, indeed. Especially when it's not done well enough in such a way that it interferes with articulation. Given what FansToys is doing with their Astrotrain (Takara style & Hasbro style G1 toy colors), I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere before they release the Maximus body, they were to release a repainted retool of this guy to match the US animation model; that way folks could have their pick of a show accurate Cerebros or a Japanese anime accurate Fortress aka G1 toy accurate Fortress/Cerebros. (I'd also expect repaints of the final Fort Max package as both Grand Maximus from Japan-only series Chou-jin Masterforce, and as Brave Maximus from Car Robots/RiD01 Fort Max) It's crazy pricey just for this alone, though. I may have to just settle for a Takara LG32 Fortress Maximus. Or a Hasbro Titans Return one. Idk. 😞😞😞😞😞
Hate the toon accuracy but gotta give fanstoys their roses. 4 releases in 5 months They shouldn’t have did the head off gimmick or the dynamic stats. They should have just done him like the other headmasters
its interesting that this bots alt mode is ONLY to be the head. I wonder if you sacrificed vehicle modes, what other bots could form a combiner without parts forming more convincingly? Would it make for a more awesome robot mode?

I found that if you turn the feet of the headmaster backwards and then fold backwards towards the back to the back of the head mode, it solves the head articulation. But I rely hate the spring gimmick. My head just explodes off into the air every time I articulate him.
Cartoon accurate but boring AF. This character could definitely have used a little more color, especially since most of it would be hidden in head mode anyway.
That’s what everyone wanted remember now people are changing their tune. I blame the fans for the constant toon accurate sculpts from ALL companies. I’m a huge fans of the simple aesthetic but that’s just me…can’t please everyone. It’s funny cause Thomas and sovereign are VERY toon accurate but everyone praises them. I don’t think it’s the companies fault I think it depends on the original g1 designs. Some designs translate to a more interesting figure and some don’t.
Yeah I’m not anti the toon accurate thing. And it’s tricky with jp-us with the headmasters. I’m not attached to them that much only that I found the colouring a little boring.

My personal opinion the head looks like it might be too small for a 4 foot bot

Why would it. Haslab Unicron was never meant to be MP scaled. There’s no way any Unicron figure would scale with any line.

Why get the same one repeatedly? Get the Cerebros version instead later to go with the Fortress one you are getting now. Think about it?

Hate the toon accuracy but gotta give fanstoys their roses. 4 releases in 5 months They shouldn’t have did the head off gimmick or the dynamic stats. They should have just done him like the other headmasters
its interesting that this bots alt mode is ONLY to be the head. I wonder if you sacrificed vehicle modes, what other bots could form a combiner without parts forming more convincingly? Would it make for a more awesome robot mode?
Am I remembering it wrong, wasn't he also like a computer terminal? Or Fort Max's ship control display or something?
julito32 i think his original alt mode is supposed to be like a super computer i think that's why he gets the name of Cerebro they only show it like two times in the g1 show

julito32 on the rebirth episode 3 just at the end of the episode they show him he kind of looks like a cross between a super computer and a mini fortress maximus its the only time they show his original alt mode i can't tell you about the comic books cause i never read them and i have try to watch the Headmasters show but can't stand the dub

I found that if you turn the feet of the headmaster backwards and then fold backwards towards the back to the back of the head mode, it solves the head articulation. But I rely hate the spring gimmick. My head just explodes off into the air every time I articulate him.
Let’s to face it no one will have him in bot mode. They just want fort max. So everything else is just chatter

Man the color choices make the figure look dead , like Optimus on the gurney dead . Love the engineering though
Cartoon accurate but boring AF. This character could definitely have used a little more color, especially since most of it would be hidden in head mode anyway.
Apparently this was the Japanese colouring. I saw a digibash of the americanised and was way better. Lot of black. Let’s hope
That’s what everyone wanted remember now people are changing their tune. I blame the fans for the constant toon accurate sculpts from ALL companies. I’m a huge fans of the simple aesthetic but that’s just me…can’t please everyone. It’s funny cause Thomas and sovereign are VERY toon accurate but everyone praises them. I don’t think it’s the companies fault I think it depends on the original g1 designs. Some designs translate to a more interesting figure and some don’t.

Yeah I’m not anti the toon accurate thing. And it’s tricky with jp-us with the headmasters. I’m not attached to them that much only that I found the colouring a little boring.
