Can you weld thicker pipe? Something where you need to do a Root, Hot pass, fill, and cap. Im very curious if you can layer beads with this welder and how it would hold up in a destructive test. Excellent work sir. 🙇🏼♂️

I think in this specific video, the content producer (guy welding) wasn't happy that his first attempt didn't clearly demonstrate the laser's ability to penetrate a 2mm thick pipe wall as evidenced by the inspection mirror. The second higher power attempt showed full penetration which made him happy with the quality achievable using a laser welder.
It is OK for handrails but not for a dairy tube. Sometimes it is impossible to get proper access and a number of stops/starts will be required. The only proper way to get a full penetration with a smooth surface contacting food product is to TIG it.
Yep. All the food contact pipes I’ve seen in the beverage industry need to be purge welded with Argon flowing inside the tube, keeps the metal on the inside of the tube smooth! Porosity = bacteria trap!

@@woodennecktie But man, welding thin metal is so hard! Its so much easier Tig welding metal and pipe over 3mm, because then its much easier to see how much filler Rod to add. I have been welding for only 3 years, and thin material is my biggest enemy 😂
This has changed my opinion on laser welding, I was under the impression that you just weren't able to get good penetration from other videos i have seen but clearly it's down to who is the operator
The second part of the video shows the use of a gas infusion into the tube in order to produce a non contaminated interior weld. Did you use Nitrogen, Helium or another gas?
I don't trust the first round - the second one looks nicer (at least welded to sustain some pressure) - I would really like to test suche an installation to if it is applicable for other ways to weld (tick material like 10-MM steel) and from bottom up or vice versa - Lokks interesting but has to be tested in real work because demos are full time like wonders -:)
Be careful with those gloves, I've accidentally zapped a leather glove while tacking metal together with a laser welder and left a small cut on the index finger that almost penitrated the leather

seams there are no filler material so probably not, guess you can add material in the same way as a tig weld , but then you might as well just tig it.
@@mareli82 it does have a wire feed. I saw it on another video. Its like mig but super thin. Like 1/16.

They seem to be very good for thin walled pipe or plate.
very clean proces and the control of the melt is not even at maximum , this laser is the weld of the future in "clean" production
The one Problem that these Machines are VERY expensive as of Now. One day they may be More "Cost effective".
Whats the difference in strength between the 2 welds?
the outside only is by nature less material in the connection , welding trough is perhaps double in mechanical strenght

First of all he used the calipers wrong. Should have uses the narrow end not the thicker middle to measure a round stock.

기똥차게 용접 잘되는데 한대가격이 너무 고가라 회사에서 잠깐씩 용접하기에는 역부족...에휴....
