    Yes, Dr Lisle, I’m one of those people who need a little fat to feel “complete”. After years of trying repeatedly to cut out as much fat as possible, I never felt happy. Now, I add a small portion of avocado to my huge salad, and a little tahini to my cruciferous. This satisfies me and allows me to eat more of the veg than trying to eat the same amount without the fats. The additions are miniscule and make up a very small part of my diet but the gains are immense, ie, I eat more veg and lose weight and am totally satiated and no longer obsess about food. Overcoming the guilt of allowing myself a little added healthy plant fat was probably the biggest challenge!

      @@Goodbyeeveryonehere You may not be eating OVERT fats but you are eating fat in your food. All plants have some fat. Chickpeas have fat, greens have fat, oats have fat (quite a bit actually). We need essential fatty acids to live, not only omega 3 but also omega 6 and 9. The reason you are still alive is because all the food you eat has some fat.

      My body needs more fat for whatever reason. I’m currently 5’5” 115 53 lift weights 5/wk. I’m not able to eat fruit, grains, beans due to an illness. I’m healing slowly but need more fat than most vegans. Is it possible that some systems thrive on slightly different approaches?
      I hope as I heal I can tolerate beans, rice, etc. For now I’m thankful for flax.
      I’m vegan except for one needed supplement. I keep trying to take it out but I get worse. I have been able to decrease the dosage in 6months vegan.

    When I lost my cat...Bodhi, unexpectedly, at barely 13 in 9/2012 the grief was something I'd never felt before. I couldn't stop crying for weeks. The only thing that helped me survive the devastating heartbreak (I should have realized sooner than I did that something was wrong with him) was saving another life, a kitty I still have, Bleu. Bodhi gave me a sign in the sky the morning I found Bleu.

    I'm a devoted decades long vegan, but honestly have to say that (1) my blood sugar goes UP on HCLF and (2) my weight goes up on HCLF. I do better with less carbs and more fat and protein (vegan of course). The weight of food (pounds per calorie) in my stomach is not what satiates me AT ALL. I eat more food when I eat low fat because I don't feel satiated. In my body, it is protein and fat that satiates...which sometimes means less calories overall. I have had to cut carbs again because my blood sugar was going way up again...and...it's back down. I cannot deny facts/numbers. As a kid on a typical SAD diet (I'm 54) my mom put lots of butter/margarine on my thick peanut butter sandwiches. Her justification was that it helped the inch of peanut butter to not stick to my mouth. LOL! I find food unpalatable without some salt.

    Regarding Dr. Greger's video, there may be a connection to the microbiome. The situation was a surrogate mother giving birth to the baby versus the biological mother. Fecal transplants have resulted in obesity being passed on from donor to donee. The birth canal passes the surrogate mother's microbiome onto the baby. This could be the answer to this conundrum.

    His comments about Dr Greger’s process are so disrespectful. It is not the process described by Dr Greger himself and if he is accusing Dr Greger of a process without knowledge of Dr Greger’s process, it borders on defamation of character and downright dismissive of Dr Greger as a doctor. Not cool at all. I would have rather he talked specifically about the details of the fraud in that study if there really is one.

  • @melaniesmith41109

    I know this is long over, but I don't think he meant disrespect to Dr. Greger, and I posted a comment on the Nutrition Facts video referenced (also long over) to see if they could review that study. I don't think Dr. Greger meant it as an absolute, just statistically more likely. I heard that episode on his podcast, too. I enjoyed this interview, but saying "fraud" caught me off guard, so it would be worth another glance at that study.

And he's looking for exciting things to report, rather than quality science? I'm shocked. So when he analyses studies in detail he's just getting that from the abstract. I know this is an older video, but I've been going through the back catalogue after listening to chef AJ on Rich Roll, and I feel like this guy is being a little dishonest. So his argument against keto (besides just calling it gross and weird) is that people who go off it are likely to gain weight when they reintroduce carbs, but his advice for the person trying to reintroduce some fats into their low fat diet is to just gradually up the fat content and accept whatever weight gain might come? Isn't that just the same situation in reverse? Both people have eaten themselves into a state where they're intolerant of a macronutrient. Why couldn't that strategy also apply to the person coming off keto? Am I missing something? I'm not a keto bro, but this seems like a willful blind spot in his logic here.

    • @Cocobean4
      @Cocobean4 Месяц назад

      I totally agree with you, he is just one sided with his perception. Fat is the weight gain for wfpb’s
      Carbs are the weight gain for people doing keto and carnivore. One needs to figure out what feels the best lifestyle for you that is long term . 😋 if you love all foods and need loose weight, then I believe you need to count your calories more strictly.

The concept that he is a con artist just reading abstracts is something that I will need to investigate because now it has come up.
