This was really interesting to me. As a straight person, I've never had any gay guy friends but one of my friends being a lesbian....I only know it from that point. I told her, you're still the same person you were, who you decide to be with doesn't change the kind of heart you have. I'm not sure though how she was accepted in general because I can't speak to that. I do believe that coming out shouldn't be a big deal because it doesn't matter to me who you choose to be with. Gives me a little better knowledge I guess of the LGBT community, well and watching your videos lol hope y'all are having a great day

On the first one. Something about gay couples being more socially acceptable than lesbian couples? I think I agree. Like, especially in media. Gay content has a lot more support than lesbian/sapphic content. Plus I think lesbian/sapphic couples are only more acceptable when we consider the fact that women are far more sexualised in our societies than men are.

I would say that lesbians get seen as less legitimate/oversexualised and in that way they have it worse, so to speak, but that gay men face more vitriol/outright hatred. So like lesbians get the downstream effects of misogyny (being taken less seriously, men trying to turn them etc.) whilst gay men enjoy more media representation due to a) they're men and b) they were more prominent during the gay rights marches and the aids pandemic which brought them into the public eye more. I do think that lesbians face less virulent hate/are more acceptable just that gay men are more represented in media and have less people tryna turn them straight cause on average women are less homophobic. I don't really want to do an oppression olympics though so eh.
Hi Matilda! Thanks for dropping in this comment. I'd agree with you that lesbian/sapphic couples seem to be more "publicly accepted" (at least in the media/TV) and I think it's mainly because women are sexualized/fantasized by both men and women. But just my opinion and what's seen on TV and social media.

I think you will only see a most and only most lesbian movies/tv shows characters in period dramas, sci-fi/fantasy, and forbidden love stories. And with most tv shows last year with lesbian characters getting cancelled we really don't have that much compared to gay men. Thailand is the Asian country that make the most gay drama content. They also have lesbian drama content but it's pretty less than the gay counterpart. Their are some other Asian countries that create lesbian/gay content but not as much as Thailand.
