  • Lotta choices but gonna focus on trio warranting some attention. Procol Harum scored once with record-buyers: #1 hit borrowed from J.S. Bach, focusing on mostly progressive rock afterwards. Their peak was A salty Dog album released ’69 with their best composition ever (title cut a likely contenders for episode 124). Robin Trower started here but songwriters Gary Brooker/Keith Reid were the focal point. Badfinger met with both commercial success & some critical acclaim during their Apple years, eventually losing steam once glam rock took over. Tragically a couple of important personnel hung themselves albeit years apart. Finally, membership changes ruined usually-great …Hoople right after 1972 breakthrough, peaking next year. Mott is among the decade’s greatest rock albums. They fizzled out post-Ian Hunter; losing Mick Ralphs to Bad Company sealed their demise anyhow. All three had share of greatness on their charts if not always with critics.
