This is, in part, why these "rules" for "safety" are being implemented. Because of the NFL's investment of billions of dollars now into fantasy football and gambling overall, it now allows for the game to be "put in the officials hands," While officials won't be able to necessarily "control" the game, they can now "steer" or "direct" the game in a, or towards a, much more "desired outcome!"

I stopped watching it after Goodell came after James Harrison and invented the defenseless receiver bs. When defense couldn't hit receivers anymore I quit. I have at times watch 1970s games of Pittsburgh and Oakland but I see it all now as suspect.

They already do that without the new rule. The new rule is to give every player who misses a tackle a perfect excuse for missing the tackle. Fans won't blame players for missing tackles, they will blame the new rules. On top of all that, they will throw flags on any tackle attempt at any time and they will call it a "hip drop tackle".
Yes and it will be the refs discretion like they do now with roughing the QB penalties. I am not sure how they thought it would be a good idea to implement this rule even on a trial basis.

That's absolutely in the cards and we would have to be naive to think otherwise. It will be sold as a sport of inclusivity and women will be the heroes for competing in such a "brutal" sport (ripping flags off someone's shorts). Oh it's in the cards. I just didn't think they would start to ban tackling so soon yet, here we are. Women in the NFL could be 5 years away instead of the 10-20 years I originally thought.

Let’s be honest, american football, like boxing, is too brutal to be true. If this games were real, injuries like torn acl, broken ribs and collarbone, concussions would happen in every game. So since it’s all an act, there’s really no reason to tackle for real.

That's why they've expanded the schedule and the playoffs, and play mid-week games. It's all for "player safety."

EXACTLY!!! Done on purpose of course so they can throw a flag on any tackle attempt basically and call it a "hop drop tackle". So this means we see tons of shoulder hits without wrapping up and twice as much sweet feet action as before!

There's a secondary benefit to the league by banning the so-called hip drop tackle: Because in most cases it looks like a regular tackle, enforcing it will be highly subjective, which allows the officials (the league) to swing games without being so blatant about it. The remaining fans will argue with each other over the call, which is what the league wants.

Well for the first time I believe, the Pro Bowl was a flag football game. That was their test run of it.
They have done flag football for the pro bowl for 2 years now. They will probably get rid of it altogether and put flags on the players in preseason. Then you will see flags on QB's in regular season games. Then fast forward a bit more you will see all the players wearing flags.

HEY , JAKE, please read. I "DONT"mumble. Worked in Hollywood 30 years ago. A Big Shot in the Industry whispered to me. I'll summarize; Basketball / Gentleman's Game / was permitted to get aggressive - hence aggressive play going 24/7 gives Refs ability to control fouls on most every play = Rig. He told me the NFL is implementing this methodology to the interior lineman in football. He said it worked in the NBA and it will work in the NFL. Watched it all along. Your welcome😊

The game is a shadow of what it used to be and getting to the point that it isn't even recognizable. Great video and I think a few fanboys might even give up on the sport, but most are too dumb and think the rule changes are for player safety.
I used to go to a bar at 10am to watch the Dolphins play back before live streaming games was a thing. Sad to think how many Sundays I wasted yelling at the TV screen.

These are two of the dumbest rule changes I have ever seen. Jake you completely read their minds on this, the tackling rule is flat out an indication of where the game is going to end up, and it makes rigging so easy now. Surprises me that they are not even trying to hide their intentions anymore. The kickoff rule pretty much takes out any "excitement" that was left in kickoffs. What the league doesn't realize is that they will eventually lose a big part of their fan base. They may be able to attract others who are not currently fans, but I doubt that it will be enough to compensate those they will lose.

There should be a rule against KICKING the ball. KICKING things is a violent, aggressive thing to do. Every time a player KICKS the ball they need to be given a TIME OUT.

I think the main reason for banning hip-drop tackles is to cut down on expensive health insurance, saving millions. Fuck these new rules! Those new kickoff rules are a good reason not to watch the NFL anymore.
