You've done a great job with this 231C60. Pity the original "sausage" motor is out of order, in good condition it's very smooth running, with a flywheel effect and with a very low current draw. I've got the brown and black version of this locomotive, it's a real pleasure to drive. I also improved mine by painting the buffer bar, lettering and boiler bands. The 24 V motor conversion is a clever idea, must try it sooner or later.
Nicely done. I had a Jouef pacific from the 1970s which had motor in tender. I always enjoyed the distinctive look of French locos and especially the work of Andre Chapelon.
Hi, I like to see these older model Locos being repaired and given a new lease of life. You did a great job on the Jouef, now it not only looks good its runs very well with its new motor. Cheers, Paul.🚂🪛⚙👍👍🙏
That actually looks pretty bloody good. Well done mate. I have a later version with the smaller motor. Made in the late 60s I suppose. I have got a Class 21 diesel with the sauscion motor. Steven.
I've a "708" Jouef tank loco, with the "Sausage" motor. If you run them, for about 20 minutes, they gradually self remagnetise and the performance returns. I've rebuilt one, decades ago, and they're a nightmare to reassemble with the end ball bearing races.
Nice restoration !!! I bought one of these locos from a vendor in France that makes really nice WW II military rolling stock, but it couldn't get out of it's way, so I returned it. Since Jouef made so much nicer steam locos than this one, I ended up getting many more 141R, 150X, 231, 241 as well as the famous 232.U.1...

Beautiful locomotive, man. It looks really awesome. I enjoyed watching the whole video. You really did a great job restoring this engine.

I would never be brave enough to open one up!

saved from the scrapheap
Awesome video 😃 You really saved that one from the brink.
le plastique Jouef se colle avec de l'acétone. ;)
Ahhh Acétone ! Identique aux premiers plastiques Triang. Merci mon ami!
