And it sounds like anyone who actually confronted him about issues (which he controlled everything even fiances so no one knew which is not how it should be done) were made promises or saw the deception and realized he held all power and authority there, so they left. At first, i didnt think he should be legally responsible for her death because i myself in the past have been suicidal and wouldnt want someone blamed for my mental instability.. however i do think it was his actions and abuse alone that drove her to suicide. Him claiming she would be completely fine if it was up to him, i just, not even right. If my loved one died in this way i wouldnt be making it about me in this way. He also seems to be talking very negative about her. That relationship was ALL about him and his control. not her.

If Mica was already going through mental heath issues and paranoid, do you suppose that having people follow her would not add to her paranoia? I do not think he murdered her but I definitely don't think he helped her live. He may have even been blackmailing her. I also don't think you would lie in front of a congregation and say that you've laid with his body four times when you absolutely didn't. (apologies for such a long msg, I’m trying to follow this case from overseas, while not understanding the American system well. So I have some confusion!)
so true, and to such detail too. The comment about the changes in cadence struck me, because he displays that throughout this manic and erratic performance. This was not like watching nor listening to a grown adult man, he’s bizarrely emotionally stunted and childlike, a real Peter Pan. I can only imagine how this played into his rumoured history of inappropriate behaviour with younger parish members. I’m sure psychs are having a field day, wish I had their insight.
I’ll add a second possible reason, narcissists will use anything to discredit and humiliate their victim whilst simultaneously elevating themselves. By repeatedly reducing Mica to nothing more than a medical diagnosis, a mental illness (he never actually talks of her as an autonomous adult woman, instead a helpless childlike pixie) he’s attempting to further dehumanise her which may be revealing in and of itself of further projected shame and self loathing, while instead simultaneously shifting the focus to himself as the role of the hero and sacrificing saviour in their relationship, her night in shing armour, bragging only he could save her and keep her alive. And then a step further into depravity, disgustingly shifting all blame to her family, if not for them she’d be alive (yet again removing her agency too).
He’s basically trying to push some Romeo and Juliette type fantasy narrative, two lovelorn teens cruelly kept apart by her evil family of grownups, he even explicitly pushed the idea she took her life because they couldn’t be together, and without him there was nobody else to save her (from herself, yet another stripping away of her adult agency).
I’m certainly not saying she may not have had mental health battles, but he sure has twisted it into a story of utter narcissistic childlike fantasy.

Has he convinced himself of his own bs, or is it merely a role and he thinks we’re all under his spell? After all his ‘day job’ is performing to a captive audience of believers. Does America have ‘Coercive Control’ laws for domestic abuse? Either federal or state laws? If so, are there any grounds for him to be charged with coercive control, there certainly appears to be enough evidence to meet the criteria? Especially now the case has such huge attention, placing pressure on LE. I’d be very appreciative if an American could let me know about Coercive control laws in your country. Or if this case could be used to help with the move towards introducing them, in Mica’s honour. TIA.
In recent years Coercive Control laws have been introduced, successfully so, in Uk and Australia. Because it’s now so well studied, established and understood just how significant and dangerous coercive control is for a numerous reasons. Usually it’s the best predictor of escalating and life endangering abuse. As well as being such an insidious form of abuse because of its invisibility to outsiders, its ability to create a false narrative to isolate the victim and cause damage to their reputation and jobs etc. For being so incredibly destructive to the victim’s sense of reality and mental stability, indeed enough so to drive them to suicide, and even homicide during a psychotic break brought on by decades of horrific insidious abuse in one historic controversial case. Coercive control is indeed one of the most important lessons being taught at schools too now, these red flags need to be taught young to save people from an avoidable life of hell.
This entire interview was a masterclass in the classic behaviors of an abuser using Coercive Control, to the point of still perpetuating his abuse even in her death! While she has no means to defend herself against his allegations. And on a public platform to perform to a world audience, the ultimate form of narcissistic fuel, he’ll be dining out on this for life. It’s sickening.
Rip sweet Mica, deepest condolences to her loved ones. Please have no doubt, we’re not fooled by him in the least, where the law may currently be lacking, he’s being seen for what he is, and for what he’s guilty of ethically and morally. There was proof that she was moving forward, making plans for the future and told friends that she was happy. So… that’s weird. He definitely has acted strange since it happened.. I don’t trust him.
It may seem strange for them to interview. Sometimes it's to get them on record saying things. If they won't talk to police but they want that attention. Give it to them. Sometimes they do themselves in.

What blows my mind is that whenever speaking of he and Mica’s relationship or anything regarding her family, it’s always “I kept her alive for 7 years,” or “I’m the one who tried to get her to take her medicine.” There’s never any mention of “I was her husband and her best friend,” “We both loved each other very much,” “She was the most amazing person I had ever met and she made me a better person,” etc.
