    I’ve had the Hall streamer for about a month or 2. And as fine an intuitive as the product is unfortunately the sound lacks. I used it with a pair of Beolab 8000 and was constantly hearing some sort of white wind’y noise. Checked cables, earth connection and everything else. Nothing seemed to work. At last I returned it in favor of the Bluesound Node N130. Now THAT is a great piece of hardware. Of course a little more pricey, but without a doubt a BIG step-up in terms of sound, possibilities and the app that follows i very well made…

      Glad you found what you liked better! I must say I don’t have what you describe going on with the Hall streamer, but you found something you like much more and that’s good too :)

      Hey! I'm in the same situation as you with the Beolab 8000s. I've been looking at buying the Bluesound Node but don't know if it includes the adaptor cables for the speakers. Do you know if I need to buy extra cables, and which ones? Thanks in advance!

    What is the best way to connect Hall streamer to my combination Beolab 5 +Beosound 5 ?

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  2 года назад +1

      Thank you, it makes a lot more sense if you've seen my Danish friend :p
      The only caveat is that I am not 100% sure it works with Beolab 5 because the Beolab 5 works differently than any other B&O speaker out there but I see no reason why it wouldn't work if done properly. You may still need the beo4 to switch inputs if you want the bs5 directly connected to the bl5's.
      So you have two options really imo, you change the bs5 to coaxial spdif to the bl5's and us powerlink from the Hall Audio to the bl5's and use the beo4 remote to switch sources when desired.
      Or option 2 is, you go powerlink from the Hall Audio and have the BS5 go line in to the Hall Audio and use the Wiim Pod app to control volume and sources. Earc will always be the default so if you turn the tv on the tv will take over and volume will be with the tv remote again.
      Hope this helps? Both options are fine and don't really differ in sound quality much, I think personally I would go option 2 mostly to keep it easy on the wiring and not needing to have to have the speakers switch inputs so often. Good luck and let me know where you end up :D

    That intro is hilarious 🤣. What sounds better in the bedroom, this setup with the 17s or the Stage?

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  2 года назад +3

      The Stage I feel but only cause it gives audio more placement in the room with atmos tracks. In terms of clarity power and precision it's all very close and stereo separation is no longer limited to the size of the soundbar with bl17's... It's a tough one, depends on what you want I guess.

    When using HDMI can you use the toslink from HALL to Beolab 18 toslink input instead of powerlink? (The powerlink is already occupied on my beolab 18)

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  Год назад +1

      Iam not sure what you mean, is the pl port connected to just one bl18? or both? and do you want another set of 18's? please clarify so I have a better picture.

      @@Mikipedia My “old” Beosound 3200 is connected by cable to one set of Beolab 18. This occupie both powerlink on the beolab 18 (serial connected) So I want to connect HDMI from TV to HALL and then send this signal from the HALL from the optical port into the optical (toslink) on the Beolab 18.
      As far I can read the optical on the HALL is only an input like the HDMI and not output but not sure..
      Or should I just connect the HALL RJ45 to the AUX in on BS3200 and send the TV sound through here..?
      I’m in doubt to buy the “expensive core” or the Hall. Thanks for quick reply. 🙂

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  Год назад +1

      @@tonybrylet8734 You could also go to the other open pl port on the bl18. Aux in is also fine. I'd say it depends on what you use most, you could also aux in the other way where the bs3200 uses the hall's aux in. Personally I would probably go that way or have the bs3200 secondairy in some way, could even be with PL to rca cables if needed.

    • @tonybrylet8734
      @tonybrylet8734 Год назад +1

      @@Mikipedia Thanks for info. Can the BS3200 send the trigger signal through the rca cables to the beolab? Then I need a special powerlink DIN to RCA cable which looks hard to find in Denmark. I think it is easier to use the second PL port on the speaker and use the PL splitter cable from the HALL. I did not know that the speaker could handle two inputs in the pl ports. Of course I can’t have the BS3200 and the HALL on at the same time😎 if that happens will it damage the speakers?

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  Год назад +1

      @@tonybrylet8734 Din to RCA cables are fairly common to get, any dealer will have them(or atleast should have them). The bl18's don't need a trigger on RCA as they line sense and any change in voltage should turn them on. I can buy them here in NL online from a few places too, I am sure they are available in DK too.
      Having both sources on at the same time is a bad idea but given the volume being low enough it shouldn't damage anything (but i wouldn't try it either). Personally I'd go with the din to rca route, I think Cavus sells them amongst some other brands.

    Hi there ... would appreciate your comments. I am using the Hall Audio with Beolab 28s. Connected via RJ45 spilt to 2 DINs. And then using DIN to RJ45 cables back to the Beolab 28s. I am however getting major radio interference/crackles when the Hall Audio is in use. Including loud pops in the Beolab 28s when the Hall audio turns off. Not sure if this is a case of poor cables. Or grounding issues. I would like to try to connect the Hall Audio to the Master Beolab 28 via RJ - RJ PowerLink. And stereo pair the 2nd via Wireless or Ethernet. Before I start un-assembling both speakers I would like to know if you think this will work. Or must you have direct PowerLink connections to BOTH speakers from the Hall Audio. Would appreciate any advice on the interference and cabling. BTW - Interference only occurs with the Hall Audios. Thank you !

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  Год назад +1

      That sounds a lot like grounding issues to me. I'd suggest keeping it fully shielded cat7 all the way from start to finish. The conversion from rj45 to din back to rj45 is probably where the issue is. When I use cat6 or below with minimal shielding on anything B&O I have the same issues not just with the Hall audio one either. just my two cents, but iam 99% it's in the cables.

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  Год назад +1

      @@olasitu8984 you have classic powerlink cables with the din connectors and those are somewhat special yes. But for the last 10 or so year by now you have been able to use ethernet cables for the same protocol. All cat7 is double shielded by design so that's why I recommend it. I use it for everything and it works great!

    • @Mikipedia

      Yes, but you get double stereo. So it won't be surround sound, just doubling the front speakers so to say to where ever you place them.

    I have tried HALL wifi streamer, Almando multiplay stereo and Bluesound Node N130 with my beolab 8000, and the hall wifi streamer was really disappointing sound wise. It offers great functionality with HDMI ARC, AirPlay, Bluetooth etc. but does it really matter when it makes my speakers sound like an cardbord box?🫣

    • @Mikipedia

      It does take some tweaking yes. The normal output is a bit cardboardy, but with some eqing of the signal I had decent results.
