I bought beolab 28 speakers to my house. I used to have Bose sound system before and had high hopes. Now after two weeks of using them, here’s my personal view. The sound of these speakers is just out from this world. You should not even present the sound qualities in RUclips videos. Listening them live, the sound just flows under your skin. Especially listening symphony orchestras, you can hear every instrument separately. Im still confused, how is it even possible to put that sound Capability in such ”small” speakers. And my wife loves them. They look like a work of art, but I think it says it all when she judged the sound (she has absolute hearing for notes and is a Piano musician). ”First time it feels like the artist is actually in the same room as you are”. Hope this personal review provides you our own experience.

I’m liking them but do not think they will replace my 18’s 19 and 17’s setup :) wish B & O would do a centre speaker for those who do not want a Tv from them.
Isn't the Beosound Stage a centre speaker? I am pretty sure it can connect to other brands of TVs.
I am not 100 percent certain, as I don't care enough about movies to buy such things. I only care that I can hear what they say, which most resonable tellies do these days.
Design is at the highest level, as you'd expect from B&O but $16500 for a pair is a bit overkill.
If there is a B&o close to you walk in for a true magical experience.
Another new product?! B&O are on a roll this year.

Think B&O should use the Mozart platform as an opportunity to get Roon certified. Great speaker offering though. Happy with my BL18s/19/17s as my eclipse 5.1 setup but would consider these for another room.

I wanted to ask, I'm thinking of trying to set up a 5.1 home theater system with these two mounted at each side of the TV (LG), and I'm still thinking of adding a sub (I just love me some good bass), and two other speakers to create the surround sound. Which other ones would you suggest?

Hi John, i noticed that I can't change the orientation of the speakers in be beosound edge anymore. I used to be able to change it to front rear or omni with the old app but I lost the functionality with the new update. Do you have any advice. Thanks.
Great review of the BL 28s! If you had to choose between a pair of Beo lab 28s or used Beo lab 5s, which would you pick, and why? Love all your reviews!
In a very big room I would be tempted with Beolab 5 because they are still fabulous speakers. Although personally I would take home Beolab 28, neater, better stereo imaging and I don't need the grunt of 2 15" subwoofers in my room!
Plus a fresh 3 year warranty and the latest tech, Beolab 5's are generally very reliable but they are electronic items and nothing lasts forever. If you're faced with a repair bill for a chassis in a Beolab 5 it will sting your wallet quite a bit so bear that in mind.
You don't actually know for sure how hard of a life they have had. Has it been usual gentle use or have they been regularly run near max volume? I suppose it's like buying an older high performance car, just plan for future expense now you're out of warranty.
Get a good pair of relatively new Beolab 5 and they should hopefully be your music companion for a long time yet, although personally speaking I would take home the Beolab 28.
Or forget both and get new Beolab 50, problem solved ;-D

@@BangOlufsenManchester Thanks for the reply! You laid it all out there with excellent analogies and good points. After two demos, the 28s still seem like a speaker with small sound (like the 18s.) The Beolab 5s convey big and bassy sound, but in a less sophisticated manner. Also, the 20s which the 28s replace, seems to have "bigger" sound to me. Next time, I need to tell them to turn up the volume a bit on the 28s, and then I'll hear the difference. Thanks again.
@@jimpeyton8592 No problem Jim. Plus don't forget any speaker will behave differently in your living room. A big store environment is not always ideal for sound, they almost always sound better at home if you set them up properly. John

Hi Nicholaas, no that's not possible. Beosound Stage does not have the functionality to connect any external speakers. Although that would be a nice setup! John.
will the B&O remote work with my LG Tv?
Can Beolab 28 connect to my 1 year old Sony 85" TV, or should I get a beovision to listen to TV???? There is no HDMI ARC input in Beolab 28, which can be a deal breaker!

Apart from a more refined stereo image with the excellent Beam Width Control they can't really compare with the power, control and dynamics of Beolab 5. The only way up from Beolab 5 in Bang & Olufsen terms is Beolab 50 or 90. Although Beolab 28 would make good surround speakers for Beolab 5 if you're connected to a B&O TV. Thanks Lucas. John.

Yes you can
What I do not understand is why the contour is not able to use them to enhance the sound. Maybe I underestimate the sound quality of the contour, but I am struggling to find an replacement for my beovision V1. But at least now there is a replacement for my beolab 3. love thos bl 28.
Contour is based on Beosound Stage Dolby Atmos soundbar, as much as like the trusty V1 the sound doesn't even compare Stefan!
Hi John, would you consider the contour sound on a better level then the v1 with bl3. For music and movies.
@@stefangro2675 Music is a close one as Beolab 3 are one of my favourites and you can't beat stereo speakers for music. That being said Stage comes pretty close, I often listen to music on my Stage at home and really enjoy it. Movies I think Stage is outstanding with it's Dolby Atmos trickery. I'd prefer to watch a movie with Beosound Stage than Beolab 3 personally.
Hey John! I wanted to ask a question about the Beolab 28s. I have a double volume ceiling height (roughly 2 stories high) and a room about 4.5m x 6.5m. Would the speakers be ample for a space like this?
Am concerned about significant echo/reverb

Hey Kwan, I'm sure they would be just fine. The reverb of the room will affect any loudspeaker but the on board calibration will somewhat help.

you can connect lots of speakers you just need a robust well connected whifi system

I did not know about penta!!!
Penta was a significant product as they were the first active tower speakers. B&O nearly didn't make them and took a gamble, if they could sell 962 pairs it would be worth while. They ended up selling over 100,000 pairs Worldwide. John

No, Beosound Stage cannot be used with extra speakers for surround sound.

I honestly don't know Alejandro. I know what the next release is but it's not an M5 replacement. Closest thing to M5 at the moment is Beosound Emerge. John.

Are these next gen speakers compatible with a beosound 9000. It would be great to upgrade my beosound 8000s with these . I was originally thinking of a beolab 18 to upgrade to.
Yes you can, just connect with the PowerLink inputs from the Beosound 9000 and you're good to go. John

Does Bang$olufsen have a surround Sound system?
There is a True Image processor built into Beovision TVs and that allows connection of up to 18 speakers. There are other ways to use B&O speakers if you don't use a B&O TV too.

I wonder why Deezer is not included in B&O product anymore, they was the one forced me from Sportify till Deezer back in time and last I checked Deezer is still ahead Sportify with Audio Quality, love the Beolab28 and cant wait to listen to them but it really bother me and now they force me back to Sportify
They are on the Mozart platform, you are not stuck to any particular streaming service. You just use your favourite music app and stream with Chromecast or Airplay 2. With this method you are free to use any music service. John
Do speaker wired to a router uses internet data?

They will use data if you are streaming music to them other than that they just use your internal LAN to communicate with eachother.

More focused and refined than BeoLab 5 for imaging but BeoLab 5 remain an absolute powerhouse when it comes to dynamic range and control, they are still glorious. The only way to truly better BeoLab 5 is BeoLab 50 or 90 honestly.

If you have one you could still use Beolab 2 for movies in 7.1 if you want to but music would probably sound better on Beolab 28 all alone in stereo.

I do not think they are the most attractive speaker.
I thought that until I saw them for real....no picture or video quite does them justice. They are much slimmer than I imagined from the pictures. John
