Been through: alcohol, drugs, depression, death (wife) and everything. I'm sixty years old, 20 years in recovery, workout every day, and look younger than my peers. For all that feel hopeless, and need a drug or alcohol, hold on everyday. It slowly gets tolerable. Please, please don't on quit on life. Try and try again!! Thanks
Mike Ness opened the door of hell and freed suffering souls with this great song...that's why he's loved and a legend. Keep kicking ass, Mike...thousands of us love ya' ! Keep Coming Back for all of us. Please !

lost my wife a few months ago and this songs speaks to me for her. the rest of SD songs do also. can't go wrong with SD for anything. they're so inspiring if people acually listen to the lyrics.
+Jeremy Riff Love and death don't mean a thing till the angels sing. There's gotta be a Heaven because (we've all) already done (our) time in Hell. May she RIP bro.
+Snolla 1988 I did not like him doing it either and Riff has my sympathy in a major way. People come from different cultures and circumstances though and there are quite a number of people (macho? or certain ideological groups) that might make that statement. I feel sorry for him as well...that life is seen in that harsh way.
Another great song by Ness. He is a brilliant song writer and musician. I love the way he infuses blues, Cash, Jennings, Ramones & The Stones into the SD sound....very cool! Call it punk...call it cowpunk...or just really good fucking rock and roll.
this song is so inspiring I don't know why SD is not considered a all time great artist or even reconized by critics I believe there one of the most underated artists of all time
Because things that are true and honest never get recognized by the masses. I personally enjoy it very much that way. Let the sheep keep their commercial no-brain shit. :)
That's because the one's who make that determination are all corporate facist dickheads, including the critics. who are the one's responsible for all the current bullshit commercial music that's played on the radio. It is a mind fuck to keep you in control Fuck them. Who cares. I think I would be concerned it they did consider them one of the all time great bands. With Soc D the only one's that matter are us. If other people don't get it then that's their loss, and a great loss it is.
I remember literally being at the end of my rope with alcohol and losing everything and everyone..I would listen to this song and wished I would someday overcome and be happy but never had hope and now I'm two years sober and married ,working full time with a home and a car and so happy! I listen to this now and still can't believe it! Rip Chalo
SocialD has been a staple in my life. drug addict parents, dad leaving and dying, me becoming an addict to drugs and alcohol...od'ing...getting off the stuff, becoming a father, divorce, winning custody, and finding a woman who wants me and daughter...only to find out 5 months ago I'm 30 years old and with out heart surgery I would have died in less than a year...I get down on myself depressed, but this song hits home and gives me reason to keep going. my whole world is my wife and daughter, and I can't give up on myself because they need me. I love them with every pain staking breath in my body, but I am slowly getting better....
love the lyrics.. I feel down on my luck.. but i will keep it moving.. soul searching.. I am wide awake now.. looking for my peace.. so let the angel wingz carry me away.. love the lyrics..
This is song has gotten me thru some difficult times , during my dark n heavy Heroin addiction, I came across this song.... It hits a deep nerve, like all Social Distortion songs, you can a pick a song to match that moment of your life... 40 years old, dealing with alcoholism and Heroin addiction, for the past 20, their music has brought alot of peace , during all the pain and hardships...
In July I'll have been sober for 6 years. I almost slipped up and relapsed but a beautiful and caring woman, who genuinely loves and cares about me came into my life. She saved me from falling back into my old ways, by giving me something to stay sober for. Some of y'all may not believe in God or Heaven. But I've walked through Hell, and an angel kept me from going through it again.
Amazing song. Love the original, but the acoustic really makes it set in for me. It will be on the list to be played when I pass on. Mike Ness is my hero. He really lets go with his emotions in all of his songs. Cant think of a single Social D song I have heard that hasn't hit me at a certain part of my life. While this song is sadder and brings tears, it's also inspiring in a way. Makes me want to do everything I can to give others hope.
Social D is popular because they Feel it. When a band does, their fans will, too and they'll stick with them. I hate how people write off Bad Religion and Social Distortion as "popular" so it must suck. They both make awesome songs
I lost my wife a week ago. This was one of our favorite songs to listen to. I even had it as her ring tone when she called me. We were both down on our luck when we met and turned into an almost 3 and a half year relationship.
Been listening to this song for years now. One of my favs. Kind of weird how the lyrics strike me but I remember a moment my wife and I had when we first met and when I’m gone it brings me back. I’m out serving US and every time I’m away I listen to it and it makes me smile and feel peace.
Nothing wrong being an alcoholic or heroin addict at all. I am one my self but I am in recovery. Just keep it in the day guys and keep doing the right best thing. I have almost 2 years sober meetings and a good sponsor helps
This version was played at my best friends funeral 7 years ago, and this is the first time I've been able to listen to this version since then. Once again, I'm facing hard times, at what's supposed to be, and is, the most beautiful time of my life: I'm expecting my first kid, my daughter, with my girlfriend. Once again, SD music is with me again after all these years. "Hold back your fears, let go your tears.."
My Mike Bellini told me once. When you hear this song. I'm there. He is gone now. I cry 😭 so much when I hear this song now. He was my life, my world my baby daddy ❤️ I miss him
What's amazing about this song is that it relates to life in all ways . Angel wings brought Me to a beautiful place a real home and LOVE. Love that I never knew and that was for myself . Loving others all my life but never truly loving myself . I've got a beautiful church and faith with Me and I'm growing every day. Tears this song has meant something to me threw out and even more so now !
this song speaks beyond volumes!!! it's about passion, grace, and escaping the battles of society and this time here called life... is definitely soul saving!!
My wife and I danced to this at our wedding. It's unreal the meaning it has to me. S.D. all time favorite hands down. Real life music. Feel the pain don't cover it up.

I have listened to social d for almost twenty years now and believe you would be hard pressed to find another band that can cover such a large array of emotions/ subjects in there music the same way as Mike Ness does... they put on awesome concerts at small venues.. good prices.. for those who are new and like what you hear... look up ' Mike Ness under the influence '

You say you're down on your luck hey baby, its a long, long way up hold back now, hold back your fears you say you're really down and out and you feel like there's no way out now let go now let go of your tears some more How many times have you asked yourself is this the hand of fate that I've been dealt? you're so disillusioned this can't be real and you can't stand now the way you feel I don't care about what they say I won't live or die that way tired of figuring out things on my own angel's wings won't you carry me home You say you're down on your luck hey baby, its a long, long way up hold back now, hold back your fears and when you're really down and out and you feel like there's no way out now let go now let go of your tears some more You say you're down on your luck hey baby, its a long, long way up hold back now, hold back your fears and when you're really down and out and you feel like there's no way out now let go now let go of your tears some more I triumphed in the face of adversity and I became the man I never thought I'd be and now my biggest challenge, a thing called love I guess I'm not as tough as I thought I was I don't care about what they say I'm gonna marry you some day go ahead and wake up, its a brand new day Angel's wings gonna carry you away Angels wings are going to carry me away angels wings are going to carry us away
"I triumphed in the face of adversity and I became the man I never thought I'd be and now my biggest challenge, a thing called love I guess I'm not as tough as I thought I was" Holy shit this hits me hard...like a punch to the chest... makes me well-up everytime.
This evening I was at the store and the man behind me in line was commenting on the patches I made on my jacket. We were talking about the bands and he was telling me how he saw the singer of Rancid play with Dead Kennedys at Warped Tour (back in a date I forget exactly but it was before I was born, 1999) and he's seen Bad Religion perform. He was telling me how he saw another band but couldn't remember the name...he was trying to remember and even said 'the singer's name is Mike Ness' and 'they're one of the big bands' and 'they made that song Angel's Wings'.... We said our goodbyes and went our ways. Now I feel kinda stupid... I know this song, I grew up on it just like I did with all of Social D. I just didn't know this song's name and I've never been good with band member's names. Anyway, that's my story. I'm glad I found this song again and that man I met was pretty cool, I love hearing people's stories about bands on my jacket.
I went to see them at The House of Blues. This was their finale. I was in the mosh pit, having a blast trying to get my mind off the guy I ran with for three-and-a-half years. When they got to the verse, "I don't care about what they say I'm gonna marry you someday," somebody in the mosh pit socked me straight in the head and put me on the ground lol. I think that was the moment I finally accepted that we were never written in the stars. It was a bittersweet concert. Good memories
This song was my life so many hard times it makes me said to think a child had to live the way I did so if any kids ever see this post trust me your are worth every breath someone out there is looking to be your friend so hold on
Awesome. Song myself Love of life pass at 47. this song. makes me feel him still after 8 long years. Love& think about our angel's he call me his angel Thanks👼🌟✌💕💌💋💔
The most amazing underrated band ever. What other punk band has such amazing inspirational well-thought-out lyrics!! Although this is my favorite they have several songs that just absolutely touch me
To all who have lost the loved one the were going to spend the rest of their lives with... I know. We get up everyday missing something but we continue on. Thanks SD/Mike Ness for putting our lives into words
Lost my job. Lost my woman. Lost my health. There are some really dark places a person can go in these times. But frankly it's because of the darkness that the backdrop is against, the so much brighter the light is. If it wasn't for this man's music, I would have given up along time ago. Tomorrow is another day and it will only get better. Besides how can it possibly be worse?
This song sounds like it's about a person living a somewhat of a rollercoaster life and becoming a better person because of it. Really inspirational and happy tune actually
let the tears go, you over come it all, went from fuct up over having 1 kid 5 years ago and a struggling company to 4 kids now and doing pretty good, thanks mike. i no longer need this song.
stressing about so many things recently and just introduced to Social D about a month ago. attended one of their concerts recently and am addicted. and, same as everyone else, this song definitely helps for dealing with things

This is always my go to song to this day when I feel pretty low
You say you're down on your luck
hey baby, its a long, long way up
hold back now, hold back your fears
you say you're really down and out
and you feel like there's no way out now
let go now let go of your tears some more
How many times have you asked yourself
is this the hand of fate that I've been dealt?
you're so disillusioned this can't be real
and you can't stand now the way you feel
I don't care about what they say
I won't live or die that way
tired of figuring out things on my own
angel's wings won't you carry me home
You say you're down on your luck
hey baby, its a long, long way up
hold back now, hold back your fears
and when you're really down and out
and you feel like there's no way out now
let go now let go of your tears some more
You say you're down on your luck
hey baby, its a long, long way up
hold back now, hold back your fears
and when you're really down and out
and you feel like there's no way out now
let go now let go of your tears some more
I triumphed in the face of adversity
and I became the man I never thought I'd be
and now my biggest challenge, a thing called love
I guess I'm not as tough as I thought I was
I don't care about what they say
I'm gonna marry you some day
go ahead and wake up, its a brand new day
Angel's wings gonna carry you away
Angels wings are going to carry me away
angels wings are going to carry us away
Thankyou! 🙏😇

MAn all the songs on this CD saved my life pulled me from the depths of suicide and self hatred and gave me something to live for

The most amazing underrated band ever. What other punk band has such amazing inspirational well-thought-out lyrics!! Although this is my favorite they have several songs that just absolutely touch me

Beem So numb for so long.. this song makes feeeeel. Tears n all . What a beautiful amazing life changing song
This has got to be one of the greatest things Mike Ness ever did. The lyrics are incredible.
To all who have lost the loved one the were going to spend the rest of their lives with... I know. We get up everyday missing something but we continue on. Thanks SD/Mike Ness for putting our lives into words
I really needed to hear this today. Shout out to my friend for sending this to me 🙏
the word 'awesome' is not enough to describe this song.
i love it
Thanx mike l. For sharing this with me, u were always there for me xxxxx
Social distortion is a life style. More than music. Ness all day
This song sounds like it's about a person living a somewhat of a rollercoaster life and becoming a better person because of it. Really inspirational and happy tune actually
Onwards, up and forward.
Leaps n bounds

Probably one of the best pics you could've picked for this song. I like how it looks like an old projector too, not just a static pic.
