I picked him up day one had him on my first team but ended up switching my team down the road but I could tell Yamaha would be good I just didn't have the knowledge or skill to take advantage of his strengths. I was right on with frieza also, nobody played him when I did.
You a good player bro im a cod and gears player and now i play this all day now but my team is tien cell and frieza im acually working my way to super sayian 2 by just watching you play....keep up the good work
Nappa's assist is not that good because it knocks them into the air in an awkward angle... Tien's assist coming in at NUMBER 6!!! Never change, crofts.
@@spngy_demigod Maybe work on your timing a bit. Nappa's assist is the only one that lets me DR after a M grab with V.Blue mid-screen. Buu's won't come out fast enough, nor Gotenks'. Yamcha is probably possible, but you would need to dash up after the pushback. Other pop-ups (except 16 with fairly strict timing) pop-up too high or outward. Nappa has a pretty underrated assist in my opinion, but not by much. 1. Not strictly better than Tien's as it doesn't go full-screen. It hits lower to the ground, though (literally at ground height and extends into or nearly the same height as Tien's) There's also a very small capture state on initial impact with all three explosion-style assists. (Tien, Nappa, 16) A standing opponent will always start in this capture state too high for a low (most lows? maybe not taller crouching normals like Broly/Cooler's 2L) to connect with Tien. 16's leaves them standing, so fun times all around from basically any distance at which it connects. There is a small window (not all day, but long enough) during which you can get a 2M>5M standard starter after Nappa's assist connects from close range. 2. Not strictly better than 16's as a standing opponent will always be popped-up. There is a bit of a double-edged sword here as well. It's a little easier to smack 16 out since he places himself in front of the active character. This can also be used to tank a hit, or as recently has become so popular, clear kamikaze ghosts. Nappa on the other hand hangs back, so it's a little harder to catch without a beam or just a bad call into a happy birthday (16 is slightly less susceptible to the HBD as the hit comes slightly faster.) However, Nappa's assist connects at nearly full screen with enough block stun to dash up and start a block string and enough hit stun to dash up into an air combo. I feel like these two are basically the same assist with their own pros and cons, but any objective person would rank 16's higher. (Pretty sure the hit box and Nappa's is just all around larger than 16's also, and the tracking is about even) [I suppose we could talk about Broly and 21's assists in this category, but the start-up, hit boxes, blow back, and hit stun remove them from consideration imo.] All three of these assists offer very similar complements to your team comp. However, Tien and 16 have these really valuable assists and are tied to strong, versatile characters that can find a home in any team. Nappa is... Nappa. While the three lows do make him an actual threat now instead of a joke, it's a pretty weak threat outside of expert hands. Much like Yamcha, he needs meter and assists to get good damage. He has some of the strongest sparking combos in the game, and good normals, but you're going to have to play super tight to work him as anchor. He's best on point with a lockdown assist and a pop-up assist (Gotenks/K.Buu, Tien/16) TL;DR - Nappa's assist is good, and nearly interchangeable with 16/Tien, but you still need to build a team around him.
@JensonIsFree oh you wanted some reasoning. ok here we go 1. 18's assist gives you absolutely no combo extension 2. 18's assist gives you very little to no block string extension 3. 18's assist is only useful if you stand behind or inside it's sphere, very hard to advance behind 4. Why would you use 18's assist when 17 has a direct upgrade?
@JensonIsFree 1. I never said anything about using 2 assists 3. if you use it in close range, you are giving up (at least partially) your offensive power, most people recognize it and don't hit buttons. in addition, its main power on point is that it give you meter. this is not the case when it is an assist, so its main advantage is gone. also, blocking many attacks rely on preemptive timing, and even those sometimes don't block the entire thing (i.e. you call assist and the opponent fires kamehameha, it will only block the first 4 hits, leaving you vulnerable to a vanish combo. you are usually better off just blocking*) 4. ehh. more a matter of preference. I really like 17 a lot more b/c of his satisfying combos (like hit, but slightly worse) *if you mean using it to punish people from pressing buttons , it's got too obvious a visual effect for that many people to fall for it, at least in my experience.
@JensonIsFree yeah but his gimmick works and the gaps can be used as part of a mixup by the 17 players. they can also be covered by assists, but then again, that requires an assist
An assist that i really like using and is underrated is Base Vegeta’s assist it’s really good for combo extension like amazing for combo extension and really good at neutral because people don’t suspect the disc to arc
Vegeta assist is definitely top tier it completely limits options when on the screen in general . Just being full screen and lockdown is ridiculous and cheap
Kid Buu’s Assist also allows for Double Level 1’s for characters like 18 for example. Doesn’t overshadow all the stuff you listed off but it’s still worth mentioning.
I've used the top 5 assists in this video and I can confidently say Vegeta is definitely not the best IMO. The way neutral is being played nowadays is like you superdash+assist which gives you a mix if they block it and a combo if they get hit. Also assists that give lockdown like Kid Buu and Gotenks are pretty big as well. Assists like Yamcha and Goku are insane neutral on top of having really good hitstun. Yamcha is borderline unreactable and superjump+yamcha assist is really good. Let alone superdash+yamcha being what it is. The usefulness of Vegeta is great and the best part about him is being able to deal with air-to-airs for you, but it just doesn't even touch how broken yamcha is all around. IMO 16>Tien Yamcha>>>>>>>>Goku>Vegeta
hitting goku assist and comboing into it afterwards isn't gonna give you damage like vegeta assist and there are gimmicks you can do with vegeta assist as well as the fact that it takes away a turn from the enemy or puts them in a bad situation
Antex you didn’t hear about the patch that came out one minute ago? Lmao I thought this was an old video I watched, I am sadly mistaken. I agree his assists used to be the best but it’s really not as well rounded now.
Why would Gokus be better than Vegeta? Vegeta covers almost as much space and covers the air. Only downside is u can superdash through it (which leads to superdash bait).
Vegetas assist still has more utility. On top of the duration of block stun and hit stun, it's still the most op assist, as it allows for so many combo extensions off of different combos. Yamchas is great and all, but vegetas is still the best lockdown assist in the game. You can dash through it and get 2B, or reflect and get punished if someone predicts your reflect, or you're back in a blockstring of you choose to do nothing.
A view honorable mentions would have been cool. I for example think that teen gohan's assist is really underrated(as the whole character in general) or coolers assist. Other than that, great video💪
In all honesty I would put base gokus assist at 10 or on the same level as bardock cause of its speed, deceptive range, hits on both sides, causes a wall bounce and the block stun is about the same as a beam.
Even tho I agree with that list you should have added a special place called "10th to 1st" for Android 18,the fact that it has 100% control over mashers and it can get any move plus on block is pretty good. and it can be help with starts of the round to punish aggressive players.
Surprised cooler assist didn't make this. It's very good in my opinion but, I understand competing with these other assists, it would be hard to put him anywhere specific on this list
I think Trunks assist is better than Cells and Bardocks since it's better in neutral, more combo friendly due to absurd hitstun, and just as good in blockstrings, just for different reasons
despite gotenks still having a great assist, I'm still slightly bummed that they didn't give him the vegeta assist too, I mean he has the missle barrage in his moveset. Why? I love the vegeta assist so much and kinda use him on every team (which I find boring and...unoriginal?) but I don't like playing the character too much whilst I like gotenks as a character more. But to be fair, gotenks with vegeta's assist would make bardock look like beerus tier x)
4:40 btw... nobody is blocking this mixup if you get this spacing... with like any character. Not only is your side switch hidden by the beam but you get to go high or low.... it's mad dumb lol
I agree with the assists on the list however I don’t agree with the placement of a few, in my opinion SSJ Vegeta is no longer top 1, it’s an amazing assist don’t get me wrong and before dropping Vegeta for SSJ Goku I relied so heavily on it in neutral and defence, I didn’t even realise until after I dropped him how much he helped, I dropped him for the beam assist just because I believe it’s better in terms of a “lockdown” assist for pressure, because it’s airtight so they can’t superdash or reflect, even though it cuts off so many options I still believe that the assists that don’t have any exploitable gaps are better for locking the opponent down, also because Vegeta assist lasts so long and having cross up protection means that if I wanted to do something like 2M 5M H (Vegeta) and go for IAD M it won’t allow for that mixup however it will catch them pressing any button if slightly delayed, it’s still a marvellous combo extension assist and allows for so much, I know this comment has been super back and forth but I personally prefer the assists that go through SD, if anyone cares for my team it’s Zamasu/Black/SSJ Goku
I agree with that whole list but I would switch yamcha and ssj vegeta. Yes ssj vegeta is a much better char than yamcha lol but purely as an assist I think yamcha is better

Before watching the video I can guess which assist he put (not in order): Trunks Vegeta Goku/goku black Bardock/yamcha Cell 16 Gotenks Kid buu Zamasu Tien
There is like a 1-second delay before Vegeta Blue's assist comes out, and even then it sends the opponent in the air similar to Nappa's assist, and doesn't keep the opponent in hit stun for too long.
one of the worst characters in the game. few mixups, 1 hit kamehameha, on point you want a specific team that revolves around him or combos into the level 3, on anchor, he cant combo into level 3, can't really get much damage off of vanish combos and his gimmick which is basically charging level 3 spirit ball makes you lose a turn. i think his only upside is he's one of the only characters who can power up level 1 into 2 bars/double level 1 solo
@@itsPlebby It's debatable between Tien and Trunks, but no Trunks has more hitstun than Tien's. Also it's worse than 16's lmao. 16's assist can be used for superdash assist while Tien's can't, that alone makes it better than Tien's in neutral. 16 also has wayyy more blockstun than Tien's. You also barely get anything out of Tien's assist in neutral, it's one hit with low blockstun.
@@julioescobar8872 dont do auto combo, first learn a block string (a string of attacks that usually consists of the light, medium, and heavy button) then when that string ends, use an assist to keep the character locked down so you can do the block string or even a mixup with a different block string. rinse and repeat my friend
Honestly the weakest assists are the ones that are too hard to combo into or extend combos. Vegitos assist can do both. Vegeta blues assist however, thats terrible.
@@ryandoan9953 vegeta blue assist its good it has alot of hit stun and some supers you can extend with it. Just because it doesnt extend a combo doesnt mean its bad.
i dont think he did. freezers assist is pretty eh as it hits at a fixed area and zamasus is actually good but not better than any of the other assists on the list as its not as simple to use combos

You forgot to mention the bullshit that is Yamcha's superdash cheese. Other characters can do it, but Yamcha is by far the best at it.
Let me guess, SSJ vegeta is #1 huh?
Yamcha no 1 incoming
What do you think about base form goku
one of the worst characters in the game. few mixups, 1 hit kamehameha, on point you want a specific team that revolves around him or combos into the level 3, on anchor, he cant combo into level 3, can't really get much damage off of vanish combos and his gimmick which is basically charging level 3 spirit ball makes you lose a turn. i think his only upside is he's one of the only characters who can power up level 1 into 2 bars/double level 1 solo
Pyrosage c’mon he’s not that bad
Yeah you have to learn your character
@@simonhoff4400 i mean no character is horrifically bad, its just that he does his job worse than others
Kid buu assist better than gotenks
Why is it when I tap for the assist it changes character ?
That Guy you’re holding a direction or press a direction when you do it
are you holding forward on the stick/dpad?
If you do back+assist or forward+assist it’s a quick tag

What are your thoughts on Xenoverse? Thanks.
He's never played it
Tien's assist is not better than 16's, it's as good as trunk's
EAY Are you high-
nope
its better than trunks. it goes full screen, has more hitstun, and is easier to use in combos. 16s assist can't even be thrown in neutral
its better than trunks. it goes full screen, has more hitstun, and is easier to use in combos
What about cooler
Zamas yamcha and trunks
Yup yup, SS Veggie wins

The best is 16
Wow never knew this was how you use assist. I just spammed them when I get people in the corner hoping to open them up with auto combos.

@@naitsirc481 Help Me Master Roshi
@@julioescobar8872 dont do auto combo, first learn a block string (a string of attacks that usually consists of the light, medium, and heavy button) then when that string ends, use an assist to keep the character locked down so you can do the block string or even a mixup with a different block string. rinse and repeat my friend

Weakest assist?? Vegito blue, It hardly does anything.
Honestly the weakest assists are the ones that are too hard to combo into or extend combos. Vegitos assist can do both. Vegeta blues assist however, thats terrible.
Vegito had a decent assost
Nah it's not bad in neutral or corner combos, I'd say either krillin, 18 or vegeta blue
@@chanceofbliss8175 18 has a good assist. Youre using her wrong if you think so.
@@ryandoan9953 vegeta blue assist its good it has alot of hit stun and some supers you can extend with it. Just because it doesnt extend a combo doesnt mean its bad.
I think this list is bias
It's his personal list. Doesn't mean you have to agree with it
Jmcrofts I think you overrated 16 and forgot about Zamatsu and Frieza...
I think he underated 16
i dont think he did. freezers assist is pretty eh as it hits at a fixed area and zamasus is actually good but not better than any of the other assists on the list as its not as simple to use combos
The fuck you talking about. 16 has it all. People just downplay him so they can feel better about themself, for picking a top 3 character.
I'm not talking about the character, simply the assist. Of course he top tier but his assist is not so much. I choose coolers assist over his...
@@docsmileey3335 You seem to be clueless on what makes an assist good if you think Frieza, Zamasu, and Cooler's assists are better than 16's.
