  • Heavily requested video so here it is! I hope its not too rambly as I guess I now understand why there was so many questions as its kinda difficult to discuss on a level past "do combo, hit assist, keep comboing". I hope you find some value in this video or it otherwise helps you out!
    If you enjoyed the content and found it helpful please consider leaving me a tip @ digitaltipjar....
    Anything helps! With tips I can afford to buy the good bread instead of the cheap flakey bread cause I am a poor bum.

    A tip that opened my eyes was that you can press assist at the same time as you press any move. So if you wanna extend after a light punch u do light pung and assist at the same time (usually with exepctions of course). Ive had this in mind when experimenting with assist combos and it has helped a lot

    If it wasn't for your assist tier list video, I would have never considered Tien's assist but I put him as my anchor with 21 and Cell and the results, at least in terms of combo potential, have been great

    dude. you honestly read my mind with this video as i kept thinking of posting a comment asking for this lol. and then even things i figured id comment on as i was watching always seem to get discussed. kudos as always. would love to see an even deeper dive into this topic. for instance i usually use trunks and cell as 2nd and 3rd and am having a hard time figuring out specifically how to extend combos with these two. would love to see more examples where you just pick a bunch of random pairs of characters (prolly avoiding the beam ones on assists since they seem a little too easy to figure out stuff for) and just show how you would lab them not knowing how to build combos off of their assists and what common things you test and how you go about figuring it all out for the general case of two random characters

    I've recently learned that there actually is a use to using Tien's assist (as well as other assists) at the end of a combo (after a generic down smash attack). And that is if you time it well, you can air dragon rush them for a meterless snapback. Alternatively, you can do j.LLL after assist and then call your 2nd assist and still get an air dragon rush meterless snapback--pretty neat! ^_^

      Yeah but sometimes, you will hit walls that you need to overcome. And those can only be overcomed within a quiet place like the Training Room, where you are allowed to try,fail,master, commit errors and grow without being punished before you get to understand it.

      Toxic45 His assist is one of the best in the game. You usually have to time his a bit earlier than most and homing dash for a follow up if you're too far away.

    I wanna thank you for the great work you do. I have a question, what would you recommend for the assist buttons instead of the the ones by default L2 and R2, in a eight button stick?? i'm having a hard time getting the assist from those far away buttons! Maybe you come up with an alternative. Again, thank you so much for your passion in fighting games.

      Honestly part of the reason I play on pad is I can't find a layout I like on arcade stick. Nothing seems intuitive on arcade stick as far as the layout is confirmed
      That said most people I know who play on stick their layout is like this
      L M H
      S a1 a2

    • @Than211
      @Than211 6 лет назад

      I think it just takes some getting used to, either that or you can drop the dragon rush and super dash binding to be assists and manually input dragon rush, super dash and sparking when you need them. I don't particularly like this method though because sometimes you can mistime the double-button inputs and it doesn't come out. I personally don't have any problems pressing the far right buttons on a stick with my pinky though but I also understand that a lot of people don't use them, mostly because arcade cabinets don't have the fourth buttons.

    I know the idea of this video was to make it as simple as possible but I was wondering if you could incorporate 2 relaunches in your specific combo? Starting with the nappa relaunch can you do another air series into dunk into cell assist-relaunch? Or will they flip out from hitstun decay?

    • @rooflemonger
      @rooflemonger  6 лет назад +1

      Anyone can figure out a way to brute force 2 assist into a combo, you just gotta practice it out. My nappa team I often use both assists (16 and vegeta) in the combo.

    • @rooflemonger

      Switching to your third is as simple as switching from your 2nd. The 2 assist buttons are also your tag buttons and you can use them to tag either by holding in the button, or by hitting forward+the appropriate assist button

    How do you do two dunks in one combo?

    • @rooflemonger
      @rooflemonger  6 лет назад

      You are not allowed to do the same dunk twice in one combo. However you can do different ones. So you can use one quarter circle forward one, one quarter circle backwards one.

    • @chekerz123456789
      @chekerz123456789 6 лет назад

      rooflemonger I can never get the 214L or M to hit after a combo in the air. It always just whiffs as they recover

    • @rooflemonger
      @rooflemonger  6 лет назад

      Those are spacing dependent. If you are at the same level or higher than your foe in the air, it will always miss. You need to be slightly below them and tailor your combo accordingly.

    • @DessawHD

      KELSOKELSO25 a lot of people are new to this genre of fighting games, I don’t see anything wrong with videos like this.

      KELSOKELSO25 Yeah this day and age people do just want their hand held

    • @moncala7787
      @moncala7787 6 лет назад +9

      KELSOKELSO25 if they learn, then they learn and are better in the future. A lot of the people who picked up this game have never really played a true fighting game at a competitive level and have no idea where to start looking for things.
      Sure they could definitely figure it out on their own given the correct drive and enough time, but most people just don’t have that much time anymore.
      Things that feel simple and intuitive to experienced players can still feel foreign and unfathomable to novices.

      ItsATrap what do you mean not have time just like people create Combo tutorials Think about how much time they spend in training mode mode to learn combos and set up’s People have lives people have work children etc. But come on now I learned how to use a assists by the second day the game was out and I had to work that day

    • @moncala7787
      @moncala7787 6 лет назад

      Jack Bobbyson I don’t really know what you’re trying to say.
      If you’re asking what I think takes up people’s time, its work, house upkeep stuff, friends, kids, other forms of entertainment, the internet, pets, etc.
