After nearly a year I've got 751 subs and 678 public watch hours, 409 videos. I set myself a goal of 1 year to monetize. That doesn't seem to be happening. Haven't been able to get myself to make another long form video for ten days, now. 4,000 hours of public watch time seems elusive as when I started. It's hard to spend 15 hours producing a video of 8 minutes or more and only get a few hours of watch time. Not giving up completely but, may quit for a while.

I would love to look at your channel if you are open to it and give you ideas on how to get you those watch hours. Don’t lose hope you are one of my favorite subs!!! ❤️❤️🎉🌸🌸🌸🤗🤗
@@AlexaSaarenoja Well, that's a good question. It's a variety show and there are a few reasons for this. 1) Many interests, and ADD 2) What my video editing skills were at a given time. (The channel started out by digitizing Christmas LPs and making simple picture videos) 3) Some documentary types of videos to have content for people to watch while I build my channel. 4) the more recent videos are mostly original content that are "how to" videos. 5) There are other types of videos I want to do but do not have the logistics, or proper environment to pull it off easily without overhauling the room every single time. That answer is really larger than the question.
@@AlexaSaarenoja I will say this though... My channel is NOT a trend, niche, or topic chaser. There are plenty of other channels that do that. I don't have the time or energy for all of that. I tend to try and have more "evergreen" content.

I try to do one a week, but some weeks I don’t find ones that “I’m feeling” so I focus on building my tutorial library of videos instead. I think once a week is great, but if you can do more the likelihood you will hit gold will probably happen faster. ❤️
how do you even find things in your niche that are trending? i love vlogs and they get a couple hundred views, but i feel like if find trending content i could blow up!
Yes, a few people have mentioned this. Maybe I void leave in some of the long pauses to allow for concepts to settle. I’ve been listening to everything in life at 2x speed for years, maybe I have just learned to speak faster. It’s interesting because in the past I’ve heard I’m slow…😅
That's so interesting. Well the demographics on TikTok are different than YT, is your audience mostly younger crowd? TikTok's user base skews younger. A significant portion of its users are teenagers and young adults. In many markets, about 60-70% of TikTok's users are under the age of 30, with the largest age group being 18-24 years old. It is particularly popular among Gen Z (born roughly between 1997 and 2012). RUclips has a broader age distribution. While it is popular among all age groups, including teens and young adults, it also has a strong user base among older adults. Users aged 18-49 are a significant portion, but it also attracts users over 50, partly due to its wide variety of content that appeals to different age groups. Maybe this has something to do with it. xoxo
@@AlexaSaarenoja actually, TikTok has a very large over 30 base. My analytics show my demographic audience is males 25-50 and females 30-50. Yes, TikTok started out as predominantly younger gen usage. That's really changed quite significantly over the last year. I see way more older people on there now than younger. And I'm surprised at the amount of retirees I see doing live streams.
Yes I’m the beginning it seems like one or the other. People are either stuck trying to get watch hours or stuck trying to get subs. You’ll get there! ❤️
I do not support copying small youtubers, it is low key ripping them off and it is why people keep fighting on yt. So all that coat tale watching bir not hitting like? You call it capitalize but it is copying, plain and simple. Moziac plagiarism is a form of so called reworking and redefining and peoplw can still sue. The fact that you dont mention crediting the original, is alarming to me.
I don't promote copying anything. As a designer for over a decade, I know how hurtful it can be when someone copies your design, however if someone is inspired by my design and remakes it in their own way, that's awesome. Go for it. Happy to inspire others! If I create a video that goes viral and it could help someone else go viral by doing their own twist on it or version of it and that version allows them to share their passion and their voice and live a life they love, go for it. I think the world would be a better place for it. I think people that are so concerned about others copying them or being copied are worried that there is not enough to go around or worried that their talents, skills, uniqueness is not enough to take them higher. I have had people steal my designs in the past and make money off of them, sure it stinks, but I also know, people that copy can only go so far in life. If they had taken my design, manipulated and created something new, well that's just evolution of life, evolution of design, go for it, improve upon it, make it your own, with you flair. I think it's fantastic! Beautiful things in the world have resulted from being inspired by others. xoxo
I started my channel on the weekend and I have 6 hours of watch time. lol. I have picked videos that are popular for the niche. Bleh it's a slow burn, that's for sure
That's easy to do when you are giving hopes to people to monetize on youtube. Most people want to be rich. What's another area you think you can also excel with doing content? Seems like life tips & advice didn’t work so well. Of course people will hang on to life with this content on an enthusiastic non realistic tone.
What is easy about this? Raising children, showing up everyday and hustling, being exhausted, learning a gazillion new things? None of this is easy, but it’s awesome and I love it. I am incredibly gratefully that I get to be a part of making people’s deepest desires and wishes for themselves and their future come true. So if you are feeling stuck please reach out and we can brainstorm. Thank you for commenting. ❤️🌸

I would love to look at your channel if you are open to it and give you ideas on how to get you those watch hours. Don’t lose hope you are one of my favorite subs!!! ❤️❤️🎉🌸🌸🌸🤗🤗
4000? I'm at 17,520 public watch hours. But people are slow to sub.
Yes it always seems to be one or the other is missing. What is your channel about? Maybe we can brainstorm how to get more subs. 🙌
@@AlexaSaarenoja Well, that's a good question. It's a variety show and there are a few reasons for this.
1) Many interests, and ADD
2) What my video editing skills were at a given time. (The channel started out by digitizing Christmas LPs and making simple picture videos)
3) Some documentary types of videos to have content for people to watch while I build my channel.
Great video. Can I ask what camera and microphone you use? I'm ready to start my channel and want to do it right.
I don’t use anything fancy so I might not be the best person to ask. I just use my laptop camera and a yeti blue mic. 🎤
Hey it looks good to me and it sounds good so that's all I really needed to know. Thank you so much. I've been looking to get a Yeti blue mic
All these years in every creative endeavour I’ve sought to release something original and unique - now I realise that’s the route to starving artist syndrome! 😂 thank you for sharing your processes and numbers so openly.
Of course, it’s my pleasure! ❤️❤️
Noone needs to copy and join trends to make it, it is getting disgusting and annoying with all the mimicing and making peop leave youtube.
True no one needs to do anything they don’t want to especially if it upsets them. 👍
@@ladybird491I just scroll on by - there’s so much good stuff on RUclips it’s a shame to throw the baby out with the bath water
love this thumbnail!!! colors are beautiful! always tons of value in your videos!!! thank you xoxo
Thank you so much!! Thumbnails are simmering I’m trying to improve. So nice to hear you like it! ❤️❤️
I have honestly tried everything under the sun😢 it's a bit discouraging. Will keep pushing though ❤
Are you sticking to a niche or testing different topics?
Great idea for Monologue Niche videos. Not my style but researching other like channels is great advice and I should do this more. Thank you.
Go for it! 👍
Thank you so much, it was so helpful 🎉
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
Just subscribed ❤🎉thank you for the encouragement 🙏🏻
Thanks for subbing! 💜
❤thank you for a the advice, how do you identify trending videos ? and should it be niche specific ?
Yes it should be niche specific. By finding videos that are recent and with more views than subs. 🙌❤️
@@AlexaSaarenoja thanks 🫶🏾 i just did some research, i think i found some! I will be implementing this method soon.
Really appreciate your help, I’ve posted 3 RUclips videos so far, it’s scary x
Congratulations!! 🍾 That’s awesome 🤩 It’s scary but you’re showing up and facing your fears. Bravo!!! 💜💜💜
You're doing a great job giving this practical advise and inspiring others!🚀
Thank you ❤️❤️
Looks like I had my own video! I’m going to recreate one I already did with maybe a different twist🤔
Sounds great! 😊
I’m going to definitely test this with another channel. Tfs 🎉
Please do! Let me know how it goes! 🎉
For those that want to know what she says... make videos copying videos that are currently trending. That's it.
Not copying, that won’t get you anywhere in life, but reiterate in your own way with your own ideas. 😊
im a little over a month in and im at 64 subs and 2.1k views/72.8 watch time hours. my goal was to be monitized by the end of the year, but it seems soooo far away. 😩
I know it does seem sooooo far away..I thought it was going to take me years on the trajectory I was on but seriously ONE video changed everything…it can happen for you to. You’ll get there. ❤️❤️
Stuck at 160 for a longtime😢 ,i keep posting but nothing happening . Feeling really disheartened 😢 but I am gonna leave this here so that if anyone comments i am reminded that i never gave up
Is this the name of your channel that is stuck i could take a Quick Look. 🙌
@@AlexaSaarenoja yes as of yesterday it was at 160 but within the last 24 hours it blew up ,so grateful its picking up finally.
Thanks for that, so it's a manual process of searching via YT filters, and you'd probably do this every three or four days?
I try to do one a week, but some weeks I don’t find ones that “I’m feeling” so I focus on building my tutorial library of videos instead. I think once a week is great, but if you can do more the likelihood you will hit gold will probably happen faster. ❤️
Awesome channel, I am going to try this strategy.
Go for it! Let me know how it goes! ❤️
how do you even find things in your niche that are trending? i love vlogs and they get a couple hundred views, but i feel like if find trending content i could blow up!
I did a video on it- here you go. m.ruclips.net/video/6BbBlYWbW4A/видео.html 😊🙌
I really like your videos, but you talk too fast to take in the information. I’ve tried.tried .75 speed, but that’s too slow. Just a suggestion.
I speed almost all videos up to 2x I find she’s slower speaking than most. Slow yours to .5 instead
@@leighagrant7861 She said .75 was too slow.
I usually like to speed up as well and always tell listeners they can speed me up!
No not speeding it up…I think I’ve just been listening to content at 2x speed for years…😂😅 maybe now I speak that way. 🤣
Great job. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
@@AlexaSaarenoja You are quite welcome!
I am doing way better over on TikTok than here posting the same type of content. I am so close to giving up on this one here in YT and starting over.
In 3 weeks, I essentially went from zero to 1000hrs and 133 subs. I was hoping to have one keep up with the other. Oh well.
Yes I’m the beginning it seems like one or the other. People are either stuck trying to get watch hours or stuck trying to get subs. You’ll get there! ❤️
That is amazing! I am stuck and I don’t know if it is ASMR becuase there are so many more options
Gonna give it a try! Thanks!
Hope you like it! ❤️
Very helpful. Thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful! 🎉❤️

You just started. 😅 Give it some time to let the algorithm kick in. 6 hours is a great start!! Wow! 🤩
@@AlexaSaarenoja Just 3994 hours and 991 subs to go! 🤣
❤❤❤❤❤
💜💜
Still in my 600+ subs
I will get my watch hour 😢
You will! ❤️
So hard
I think it could help! Have you tried trending video strategy? It's not always the most fun, but it does help to boost views and subs.
@AlexaSaarenoja you didn't answer my question but okay
How about Starman memes.
@Alexa I just came across ur video. New sub . Pls I just started creating content on.mt RUclips last month and just few days my channel blew and I got copyright strike 😭😭😭 I'm really confused on the whole thing
