I love my Sizzix! Great machine. When I cut for Appliqué and have applied fusible to the fabric, I count the fusible as a layer. So i’d only cut 4 fabrics, 5 if it wasn’t too intricate.
I know you'll have a lot of fun with it. You might want to check another of our Sizzix videos here on the things you can cut with it. www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/14/sizzix-big-shot-34-materials-it-can-cut/
Thanks for this great tip. My humble CUTTLEBUG does a good job too but with 4 layers of fabric. That's enough for me. ALANDA you are really EXCEPTIONAL TALENTED AND TRULY A BLESSING TO ME. Thanks for sharing and caring. 💕👍👍👍 .
I've always felt let down by Sizzix in Australia. Spotlight made a big deal of them when they started selling the range then dropped the fabric dies and cutting plates. They still sell Sizzix but for felt and paper crafts. Now I have to import the cutting pads from the US. Thankfully I did get a large range of Fabi dies before Spotlight stopped selling them. Fabi dies seem to have gone the way of the dinosaur.
I'm new to the Big Shot. I can only cut two pieces of card stock paper with it. If three then bottom on doesn't cut thru.cleanly. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thx
You would need to purchase a die in the shape you want to cut. I haven't cut faux fur so I can't really help as to whether it would cut it. It would depend on the length of the fur, what the base is etc. Here is a link to our post on different types of materials we have cut with the Sizzix that may help you decide www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/14/sizzix-big-shot-34-materials-it-can-cut/
Yes Connie it is designed for paper and the plates for the fabric are the same for paper. www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/14/sizzix-big-shot-34-materials-it-can-cut/
What a great idea for applique -- thanks for showing this to us!
You are very welcome!

I'm pretty sure the Cuttlebug can get through 8 layers of fabric. (And thank you for the lovely comment. You are so nice.)

Hi ! , Would this work with faux fur ? Also what if you want a certain shape cut out how do you go about getting the shape you need

Do you not use fabric stiffener beforehand? It seems some people do & others don't. I'll be making fabric flowers so not sure if I'll need to or not.
As you are making fabric flowers it may pay to use some fabric stiffener such as Terial Magic or starch to get a nice clean line.
I was wondering about a machine cutting fabric thank you
The Sizzix cuts fabric as shown in the video. We also use our Brother ScanNCut to cut quilting pieces.
Wow that’s great.
Thank you. Just dug out my Big Shot just for this purpose. I will use the card stock.
Let us know if it makes a difference for you.
Can this machine be used for paper and does it come with the normal plates like the other machines?

I was wondering if you could tell me where I could get a machine like that one?? Love the color!
You may find one in a craft store or on ebay. It's been a couple of years since we bought it. We liked the colour of this one when we bought it.
Thanks for info, good to know how many layers of fabric to use per die. I just bought the sizzix #5 flower its available on amazon , God Bless
Excellent Glenda. It's great for making felt and fabric flowers as well as paper ones of course.
