I’m 4 minutes in to the video and taken to the comments already. I’m not in to kettles, but the way this video has been presented so far is absolutely epic. You chaps at Hornby Magazine know how to present things in such a way that grabs the attention.
As everyone else has said, what a fantastic presentation! That moment from the fog was absolutely spellbinding. Really appreciated all the excellent historical background as well. Not a steam modeller, but love them all the same and Accurascale are a company deservedly making a real name for themselves, I for one am very happy with my PCA cement wagons! I hope it works out well for them.
What a simply wonderful presentation ! Not just the details of the scan cad and mock up, (which is enticing to say the least) but some quite brilliant prototype footage,Throughly enjoyable ! if fact, I'm goimg to watch it again.....!

Brilliant video folks! How many does Abbotswood set in the early 70s need? Got to be 7808... but then as a shareholder in 7802 and 7812, and having chased them to Aberystwyth and back in the noughties, suspect one will not be enough..... what a great choice of loco to model, and if the sound gets anywhere near the bark of the real thing there will be goosebumps aplenty. Thanks for sharing - and cant wait to hear what else is in the pipeline
I have pre ordered Erlestoke Manor as it is one of our Severn Valley Railway residents. I also know Hinton is being produced as well but I don't think I can afford two of these models.
I actually pre-ordered Erlestoke Manor as well, sound fitted at that, now I just need to get some br mk1s to put behind her to represent a 1963 Cambrian Coast Express express service.

An excellent presentation Richard. I've placed and paid for my sound fitted Dinmore Manor 7820 with Rails of Sheffield. 🚂🚃🚃🚃 With my pre-order placed back in March 2020 for Dapol's sound fitted Dinmore Manor 2021 will be an excellent year of railway model's for my collection.
Fantastic video and fascinating to see the depth of research and understanding of the prototype. This video has sold the model to me - just need a plausible excuse for how a Manor makes it to north west England circa 1962! ‘Rule 1’ may need to be invoked. Again. Lol
This three-pole motor is smoother and has a lower starting voltage than similarly-sized five-poles. A larger number of poles doesn't necessarlily make the motor better... ;)
Im thinking it will either be their first steam loco or a class 88... but i cant rule out a DMU or EMU either depending on what they class a Locomotive as?
@@lucitonstjames3925 Modern Image Modelling only covers from the introduction of diesels to the end of steam. Current day modelling is far from approaching a dead end, yes we need more units, but we are far from a dead end
Difficult to resist demands from my 4mm loco superintendent for one of these, as my line "relies" on spare locos from Reading and Reading South MPD's. Actually, any excuse for a beautifully crafted model!
Given Dapol are doing one and if the moguls anything to go by plus accurascales unproven record making steamers this must be either cheaper or have a nearer release date? Not hard to beat Dapol on that.
@@mckinneyc1000 yeah but haven't you seen their new-tooled Class 20/3? Tooled from the ground up but no marker lights and Bachmann's excuse was they couldn't fit them on their new model...too funny.
@@sapphirejunction8993 wasn't that they couldn't fit them. They tried a lot of different arrangements and couldn't find one that could be mass produced successfully.
Sorry, worried for Accurascale. New boys on the the block, only making wagons two or three years ago. Then announced there first loco as a big Deltic, then a Class 37, now a more complex steam locomotive. Shouldn't they learn how to walk before sprinting let alone running. Heljan have bombed apparently with their O2 steam locomotive, even though they have been making substantial diesel locos for years. Accurascale haven't produced any working locos yet which the public can actually buy. Let's just hope they are actually good runners and reliable, not just pretty static exhibition models. I've pre-ordered a DCC sound Deltic in hope. Fingers crossed.
accurascale are only 3 years old, and have delivered 9 new product lines in that time, and are now starting to deliver the locomotives they have been launching. They are also going 5 or 6 years in Ireland before that.
@@mccarronfamily I don't own any of their products yet. I've watched them with interest at shows from their start and hope they do well. Hattons have gone the super fine detail route (I've a class 66 on order), but access to the inside results in bits dropping off all over the place apparently. We shall see how this company addresses this problem with the Deltic later this year.
You know what I might just by this even I have no interest in Steam, the '7808 Cookham Manor' since it is running today as Preserved will be appropriate for a Steam Charter on the layout.
if you are looking for an oparational one 7808 is not realy the one you want, it last ran in 1983. however 7802 bradley manor with its 4000 gallon tender would be more appropriate, but sadly lost its mainline certification in 2007

As much as I love the GWR Manor class, I'd much rather it be something that's not been modelled yet, like trojen for example. Maybe even model a Y7 Don't take it the wrong way, I'm SUPER excited to see how it all pans out, just wish it was something else And something LMS
@@ethmister You can always buy a pack of flat adhesive motorcycle wheel weights on eBay. A pack of 5g and 10g only cost a few pounds and fit in any tender.
In fairness, it was end of 2018 (late November) and Deltic is almost here now - final sample pics have been shown. Better than many others considering just over two years.
i wish you luck with this BUT why announce a Manor when another manufacture has already announced they are going to produce one over a year ago, with many other locos that have been neglected, GWR Saint, LMS/LNWR Prince of Wales, LNER/GC Raven Pacifics, Southern/LSWR 'Paddelbox' or the most neglected area of UK modelling Scotish locos such are the Cardean or the Jones Goods iconic locos that have never been made out side of kits. Personally i think this is a very poor choice over what could have been done instead
Noting from the video, accurascale surveyed and scanned the Manor in 2019 - long before the Dapol announce - they also have EP's in hand and a delivery time 6 months away.

@@Haymarket47 Bear in mind accurascale is three years old (today) and look at what's been delivered - as well as samples shown of the 55, 92, 37 (not counting their Irish outline ranges)
I’m afraid I don’t get it, with the quality of the Dapol Mogul to go by, their Manor is going to be a great model, so why compete in such a small space when there were only ever 30 made. Good luck to them and I’m sure it’ll be a great model, but this seems illogical.
By the looks of it they had started and done a lot of the work by the time dapol came and announced there model. They also wanted to do a lot of the work before announcing so we the buyer don’t have years to wait for like the 94xx which has just got released.
Booooo more Great Western Models... So many more western models available on the market already, compared to other region. However I’m sure it will be brilliant, and I really enjoyed the video.
its gonna be an interesting race to see who gets there's in the shops first. dapol already having the 43xx complete will have a grate head start on accurascale as id imagine half the parts or more are the same
dapol now have there engineering sample and are expecting to take delivery of the decorated samples in the spring of 2021 and have models out to our retail network by the Autumn time

To be fair, the parts that got me wanting one (or 5) was the 3 speakers and the amount of extra stuff being added into the detail pack.

At the listed weight and power from the release, I doubt a helix will present a problem to this 400g+ monster
