Great video guys ! Love the teasing opening scenes with a Class 50 just visible in the background and gradually becoming more prominent ! And some superb running scenes of 50s showcasing their sight and sounds.
Great news which i have been expecting for a long time. First thing to say is i am glad a manufacturer has managed to get the shape of the windscreens right. That alone makes the Accurascale 50 a cut above, before the other gizmos they install. For me it will either be 423 in original condition. Or D444 in two tone green WHEN they announce it !!!
I'm sure they will do an amazing job, but we have been blessed with a very nice Class 50 from Hornby. It would have been nice to see them tackle something that hasn't already been done.
Those chains are connected to the handbrake mechanism under both cab floors. A series of cranks a pull-rods are connected to a large worm gear that is in turn connected to the handbrake wheel on the cab's back wall. When its turned, the lever you see on the chain, pulls the brake cylinder piston thats connected to the brake rigging and so applys the brakes on that bogie.
I was excited for a Class 08 during the introduction, but then we got a boatload of Class 50 thrash and some good news, so I'm well happy 😁 Still shaking my head wondering how AccuraScale keep announcing so many models in quick succession - do they ever sleep?
@@gilbertporter4992 hope so, and completely agree; despite there being 00 scale 08s from other manufacturers, they are all compromised is one way or another.
Is there room for another 50 when the hornby one (although 20 years old) is still a finely detailed and operating model. The finest model hornby have made at a time when their quality issues were virtually unheard of too
Back 20+ years ago it was only Lima if you wanted a 50. Now we are being spoilt. Good news and I can see the logic, 55, 37 and 50 bogies are almost identical so with minor tooling changes there’s a huge amount they already have. New chassis and body moulding completes the model so it makes sense. Also give competition pricing there’s possibly room in the market. Certainly a large following.
Looking very good, I wonder have accurascale improved the slow running issue that the deltic suffers from. Also can you fit zimo decoders? Very disappointed with ESU….. Looks to be a cracking model.

It's considered an engine 'for the kids', all smoke, noise, names and special paint with no real substance. A loco that always suffered from poor reliability despite a huge amount of money being spent on their refurbishment, and this showed in it's relatively short service life on the railway : 1967-1992.
These locos' were built for the London Midland Region from Crewe to Glasgow and Edinburgh in which they kept to tight schedules and only went onto the western region once the electrification was completed to Scotland and then passed onto the western region to be name and shamed by GWR.
Hornby, please help us n gaugers out, we need armatures and motors for the old Lima class 31's Please Please make them or a suitable replacement, traction tires too please, Dear Santarails...
Class 47 would have been a better 'next' model as that was seen over virtually the whole network, even though I love the 50's, they were relatively restricted in distribution.
Whatever it is, I'd rather it wasn't available in "what if..." liveries. As a grumpy old modeller, seeing beautifully produced models in liveries they never carried devalues them, imho. A minor point, I know, and invites the response "Get a life!", but that's how I feel.
