I bought a 2024 limited CM 4x4 that came with a 3 inch lift from the factory back in 8/2024 and I will say this much after doing in-depth research on all 1/2 ton trucks out there to me the tundra was head and shoulders above the rest , motor is heavily under squared making bore to stroke ratio of 1.18:1 which is insane for low end torque delivery for reference 6.7L Cummins diesel has 1.16:1 ratio, and front end components like tie rods , axles , upper/lower ball joints , Aarms are 2X bigger than any 1/2 ton truck out there makes it more robust . Rear diff is like a 1 ton truck truck 10.5 inch ring gear equivalent to a Dana70 , drive line is MASSIVE ! The transfer case chain is comparable to a 1 ton truck which again is way bigger than any 1/2 ton truck , plus the smooth trans, and quiet , comfy ride . The engineering that went into this truck is a marvel anyone that does a in depth research on the new tundra will find that out real quick , to me it is by far my favorite truck that I have owned in 28 years and I have had all the domestics . As far as the V8 this truck will blow its doors OFF not only does it tow better but I’m also getting 22 mpg on the hwy running 70 mph and 18-19 mpgs in town. Overall I’m very impressed with this new tundra and the more I drive it the more I’m loving it .
A smaller engine having to work much harder to match the power output of larger engine is always going to be less reliable. Simple fact that Toyota wants everyone to dodge.
