If your biggest gripe about the awning is the size of the zippers, do what we used to do in the 70s, attach a loop of 550 paracords to the zipper to make it easier to grab and hold.
this is awesome! i always wanted to build a 4 Runner for camping and trail exploring, I think your video has giving me some great ideas for my future build, thank you!!!
Love seeing other 4Runners with Solid Wood Worx drawers! I love mine! I'm glad this video was recommended to me. I'm sure I'll enjoy following your adventures. Cheers, from PNW!
Love your rig! One really low hanging fruit for ya that you probably know already is it’s just 4 bolts to remove those folded seats for more room to sleep inside. Looking forward to more of your content! Cheers
Your roof tent looks great. I’d prefer having a pop up tent to store extra stuff in and to be able to save my camp spot when I want to drive around or need to get into town for laundry, groceries, etc. I sleep in my 4Runner and just pop the tent up next to it.
Well done, a lot of good information provided. I have a 22 ORP and looking to build out a bit more. Main thing is the inside platform with the drawers. I liked that a lot in what you have going. I work while travelingas well. Usually I will hit a Starbucks , local library or rec center. Never checked into Starlink. Well narrated, thank you.
Here in Germany / Europe we have a Toyota HiLux with an Alucab-Canopy-Camper. Great setup as we can go from inside to the rooftent and down to the toilet / kitchen area. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for the tour! This was an excellent reference and one that I will use to inspire my build. Of all the things you have in there, I’m thinking of going from a simple leveling platform (I take out the passenger seat bottom) to a drawer system with platform extension like yours. I’ll look at Solid Woodworx but I’m inclined to build my own. Thanks again.
Nice rig. I missed out on buying the gen 5 Runner. Just got a new Rav4 though. I thought sbout a roof tent but I think I rather sleep in the suv and put the cargo on top.
Thanks for the detail man. I commented on your other video but I am hoping to kit my 4Runner in a similar manner and live out of it for a bit for the second half of this year.
Nice! Yea I realized that I didn't need much. I was always near a city if I really needed anything. My main concern is a place to sleep at night and be comfortable while doing so
@ yeah. I work remotely as a SWE so your insight on StarLink is helpful. I’ve done a few road trips and used an inflatable bed in the back. I bought the Solid Works setup last week.
Any reasons not going past 287 tires? or adding a beefy suspension system? Adding External Light Bars, Bumper to hold a winch? Do you have plans for any future mods or upgrades? Thank you kindly!
I don't have many plans for anything else. I have considered a bumper and winch but it's rare for me to be in a situation where I would need one. If I am stuck anywhere, I'm usually rolling with other people to pull me out. Realistically, skid plates is what I'll purchase next
@@tim.muangkeo how do you plan these trips with other people? is there like an online community? or is it just a bunch of friends? Although I imagine having a friendgroup in which everybody is into this sort of thing is difficult...
@@anmol3457 There's quite a bit of meetups here in Washington but yea it's mostly friends that invite me out, vice-versa. I will say out of every hobby I've gotten into. Overlanding/Camping is the easiest to meet like minded people
Tim, I love this build and your content. Thank you for sharing. Looking through your affiliate links, I didn’t see the water tank. Can you tell me where you got that 4 gallon pressurized tank? Anyone? Thanks!
Yea I just make it work. It fits in the rooftop tent perfectly but inside it runs from the trunk and up to around the passenger headrest. I think the foamy short would fit perfectly. It's 25" x 64" (5.3ft)
Thank You for your nice video. For the Ecoflow Alternator charger, how much power it can be produced from your stock alternator? Can you charge up your Ecoflow Delta 2 by using this only source of supply while you have a number of accessories (e.g. fridge 7x24?, laptop....)?
800w. Yea the alternator charge + the delta 2 is my only power source. I always have it around 90-100% when I arrive at camp. Takes about 2 hours to get it from 0% to 100% but it's rare for me to ever have my delta 2 dead.
Wow! 4runner can produce 800W continuous charging to your Delta 2, nice! Any observations of the main battery voltage drops below 12.5V (even when the engine is running)?
@@helenabha just saw this. I'll look into answering your question in a future video but I did notice a bug (recently fixed by ecoflow) where the alternator charger will still continue to pull from your battery to charge the delta even when you have the engine off. There were multiple occasions where I came back to a dead battery. The good news is the alternator charger is backward compatible, so I was able to use my delta to charge my battery back up and start the car.
I have a 9-5 still lol I’m fortunate enough to work from home. Everything was bought over time from 2019 to now. Mostly on Facebook marketplace. I’d say a little over 7k total cost for everything
Yup they do! It was one of the things I considered when purchasing a drawer system. I wanted to make sure I could still use my rear seats in case I have family or friends visiting.
I believe the one I have has been discontinued or is an older model but it's this one. I'd wait for it to go on sale lol looks like the price went up from what I paid ($600) tarucausa.com/collections/awnings/products/taruca-rogue-180

Thanks! Yea, I may remove the seats if I move back into my 4runner again. I mainly have them for family and friends when they visit
Great build out, man! You definitely have it dialed in! I'm glad this video came up in my feed! Cheers and happy camping in the 4Runner

I’ve been pondering on that idea as well. If I could sleep inside the 4runner it’ll give back my roof rack to store more stuff
Great video! Wishing you the best of luck with all your future endeavors!
Thanks!

I never knew about the SideHack that will be perfect for my propane. Nice job on your build

The HiLux. UNBREAKABLE.
Pretty cool.

1:50 the Moses Lake sand dunes
good eye!
@tim.muangkeo been there a few times.
Might be a good idea to add a bull bar just to avoid your engine from getting damaged by animals accidentally running into your car from the front
I definitely considered that!
Love the headlights, but seeing them for $800 everywhere I go. How long ago did you get them for 600?
Last year during black friday

It’s the waterport day tank. You can find it here. Some times Costco will have it or cabelas

Always wanted to try the hest but for that much money I would want it to fit the 4r. I assume you just make it work without it ever being flat?

Do you actually live in this full time? What do you do in bad weather, hang out in the driver seat?
I used to but not anymore. I usually hang out in the city and coffee shops. During that time, editing took quite a bit of time so it kept me busy.
That's a fancy apartment.
I wish I had a bathroom

What is the passenger desk system? I don't see that in your interior list.

overall very good installations, upgrades and gear but those hanging wires looks ugly
I know lol I plugged everything in to make sure it was working properly and told myself I'd hide the wires later. That later never came...
