    If you are thinking of moving here and have school-age children, be aware that we rank near the bottom for education . You have to be able to move to an affluent area where they have the best schools or be able to pay for private school. There is an over 1000 teacher shortage here.This is a 24 hour drinking town and legal Marijuana. There are fatal DUI accidents every week. We have a shortage of law enforcement, which is evidenced by the way many people drive here by speeding, running red lights, and stop signs. Car insurance is in the top 5 most expensive in the US.Las Vegas also has a shortage of doctors. It can be months before you get an appointment with a specialist. Energy costs here are very high. I have lived in Las Vegas for 29 years. I want people to know the negatives before thinking of relocating here.

      Some great points, and they are true. Thankfully traffic is mostly compressed into two roads: 15 and 95... the beltway gets clogged sometimes too. Don't move to Las Vegas because of The Strip. It wears thin after a while. The surrounding areas outside of downtown hold the real beauty and attraction. Legal marijane is highly overrated. For parents, homeschooling is cheaper and always a better idea than brick and mortar schools.

    • @jajcirbela5217
      @jajcirbela5217 3 месяца назад +3

      100% true statements, thank you!! Also there's the endless road work everywhere, traffic jams, water restrictions, not enough grocery stores, drunk drivers 24-7, the immense amount of people driving high on marijuana, the up to 12 to 24 hours wait in the ER's. This is not the place where you want to raise your kids, schools are horrible.............

    I just came across your channel and love what I’ve seen so far. First, I want to address what you said about blue skies. The sun does have some healing qualities, especially when it comes to mental health. The sky doesn’t necessarily need to be clear all the time, but as long as the sun is visible, people’s mental state are generally improved at least at the beginning of the day.
    Then, I think a lot of people that have never lived in Vegas forget is that Las Vegas is just a city. Yes, there are great entertainment options on the strip, which legally isn’t even in Las Vegas, but get away from the tourist areas (the strip and Fremont Street) and it’s just a city with schools, hospitals, office jobs, factory and warehouse jobs, and pretty much any other job you can think of.

      Hi Mark, thank you so much, I appreciate the kind words. Thank you for the clarification on the sun and healing qualities. That makes a lot of sense.

    I lived there 27 years, left November 2021, in Texas don’t like weather here summer or winter, bugs too much, humidity I can’t get use too…..but I’m told as I think of moving back to Las Vegas cost is out of site, especially utilities, and crime like L A, I’m single senior female and will remain to go there couple times a year just to visit

    • @Livinginlasvegasinfo
      @Livinginlasvegasinfo  9 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for watching, I wouldn't like the humidity at all. What else do you miss about living in Las Vegas? Utilities have gone up but so has the rest of the country, crime will always depend on the part of town, but no city is crime free. I don't think it is quite as bad as LA. There are some great communities to call home here.

    I'm moving to Las Vegas from the cold side of Nevada up in Reno. I'm not looking forward to the super hot Summer but I hate the winter in Reno, so I'm looking forward to almost no snow and more hospitable weather at least 9 months out of the year, whereas in Reno, it is just very cold from November through April. Reno is not all bad but I think the biggest difference is just that you guys are a bigger more diverse city and that is a good thing. I don't gamble but I'm used to living in a tourist area, and we have Tahoe but you guys have Mount Charleston, so when I see these videos, it just looks like the biggest difference is more people, and the Summer kind of sucks but your Winter is very mild and you guys have professional sports.

    Not sure if Las Vegas will be sustainable within 10 years based on weather. The absolute insane summer heat and all they can say it’ll get worse. Not sure how that’s possible after 2024 summer. And now no rain in 7 to 8 months. Doesn’t sound very healthy here. At least in the 1970s it rained a bit more and summers not as extreme

    • @Livinginlasvegasinfo
      @Livinginlasvegasinfo  2 дня назад

      Interesting...This past summer of 2024 wasn't any hotter than the previous year in our opinion and based on temperatures. We have had rain in the last 7-8 months. Just no crazy showers that lasted all day. Where did you get this information?

    • @rodneyvoshell9296
      @rodneyvoshell9296 2 дня назад

      @ from the NWS as it was the hottest summer on record and not even close and the 3rd. warmest fall. Not good here as we don’t take the heat seriously. All talk and action doesn’t match. And no measurable rain since 13 July.08. And before that on 26 April. It hit a record 120 on 7 July and every day in July was 105 plus as we had about 42 straight at 105 plus annihilating the previous record of 25 straight set in 2017.

    Lets face it costs will go up and crime will as well... even just two three miles out of Boca Park south end of Sumerlin no different, police response time is "emergency" only but if someone is breaking into your car ahem...thats not an emergency? So expect to fend for yourself and be cautious of surroundings. The drivers here can possibly kill you one day, since everyone is from everywhere you pretty much deal with all US cities style drivers and yes includes the shit ones that shouldn't have a license. everybody is always in a rush and bottleneck traffic so expect to stuck in it because nobody does the speed limit or understand how it works it even drive in the turning lane to come onto incoming traffic or speed down the bus lane. The accident rate here is going up by the day includes insurance rates mine went up $200 more a year in a matter of six months, there's a lot of non insured drivers expired registration or violation of some sort but now there's a law that protects them to continue driving and can't be pulled over by law for non compliance/expired tags.
    Expect criminals to break into your car unless you have a neighborhood watch, i took it upon myself and cleaned up my block after my roommates Hyundai got stolen not 200 feet from my door found with a driver who evaded only to capture them on cam a second time in the act and the chase was on went looking for them so, prepare to set up cams for your property and safety maybe a weapon for home defense, since seeing a LA influx from Cali gangs you almost need to especially near Jones rd area between Vegas dr and Charleston blvd. There's barley any jobs I'm lucky I landed an ok one career based took some effort and job market will grow here for the independent brand but don't expect a corporate or shit one they say it's bad, people desperate working in carwash or grocery store when they arrive caught off guard so have a trade or skill or apply yourself towards one. Police response time in the summer was bad like 5-10 mins on hold, yup. The weather can get extreme for months on in 108° 30% humid etc makes living here so bipolar can get cold really fast and hot really fast rarely you see a break in period. Its an attraction for reasons unknown? the school system ranks in the top worst schools for being overwhelmed overcrowded and underfunded. The police here overwhelmed and only applies to life or death even than don't expect them to be on time, possibly underfunded or lack of staff/officers boomers are retiring. It has a homeless problem and construction on roads that never seems to end, traffic filled with typical rat race city in a rush for nothing. Rush hours are from 7:30am-10am
    noon from 3-7 sometimes 8pm
    idk just seems like they're always in a rush. The city isn't built for the influx that's taking place most locals left most are fed up and leaving I'm contemplating the same, costs will continue to go up and drive the poor and middle locals out like most major cities in US. Its slowly turning into a demo state and getting dirty again. It's getting overcrowded quick. Not sure what these content creators do but this is the truth about Vegas. Its cheap for now but on the rise it's slightly overcrowded now will be on the rise like LA residents is my prediction within 5 years.
