  • The Kia Sorento might share a lot of the same components as the Hyundai Sante Fe but its attention to detail and handsome looks make it a more luxurious feeling car. Take a look at our review to see what's new for 2017 in the company's best seller.

I was really back and forth on a few SUV in the class. We chose the Kia Sorento based on the small extras it had, the feeling of more space, and the great looks in and out. It's a small thing but the side mirrors that fold in and till down in reverse are great. I'm 6'4" and the Kia was the most comfortable ride I had in class. The looks of the SX trim are very compatible with vehicles well beyond the price tag. Great review and a great SUV

@@OffTheBeatenPath_ In this particular model, the SXL, it (as well as the SX) is available only with the V-6; the turbo 4 is only available in the EX trim, at least in the USA... not sure about Canada. I am in general leery about turbos based on the "coking" problem a lot of them had in the 1980s.

Great review & Happy Anniversary! We bought this over the Santa Fe, Pilot, CX-9, & the Explorer because of the price especially on the EX to SX trims. Yes, the third row is a bit cramped for the common American but just right for the common Asian (around 5'7" tall). Yes, the access to the third row is a bit odd to be only on the passenger side but we can live with it I guess. But what really pushed us to buy this is because of the excellent service (before and after sales) of the Kia dealership here in our area compared to Ford & Honda. Plus we got lifetime free oil changes.

As another one of my favorite reviewers, Alex on Autos, said about the third row in the Sorento SXL, it's good for kids "and your mother-in-law." :)
Levity aside, the Sorento is a "tweener" in the Kia lineup. Think of it as a two-row-plus, with the Sportage being a two-row SUV and the Telluride being a true three-row SUV. The third row in the Sorento is more meant as a contingency feature. For someone like me who is going to be the sole occupant 90 to 95% of the time but needs the cargo capacity and V-6 towing capability, the Sorento is perfect. It doesn't feel like a land yacht the way the Grand Cherokee or Pathfinder do, and I was pleased with the acceleration in Normal and (especially) Sport modes. I just test drove a used 2017 SXL today to possibly replace my Toyota Avalon Hybrid; while I will miss getting 42 MPG on interstate/expressway driving, my needs have changed since buying that, and the SXL may work even better for me than a Highlander.

My family is most likely going to buy the Sorento EX+ V6 because it is extremely safe and it has great features with leather and it's only 40k. It's a great deal. Also I'm in Toronto and go up north every summer and planning on going to Florida and this car is great. It seems like a very luxurious car

Nicely done and keep up the good work. We picked up a SXplus and have nothing but rave reviews from all our friends. I get an average of 8.6l/100 km and up to 7.8 hwy. Test drove all the usual suspects and none of them compared with fit/finish, power and options. I was rather disappointed with the MDX as you can not get a panoramic roof in it. A big shout out to Northland Kia for a great experience and Andy the salesman great people to work with.

Nice, Troy! Glad you're enjoying your wheels. The MDX interior was a disappointment to us as well. In many ways, Kia executed their's better and more cleanly.

Here in Uk the only engine offered is2.2 197 bhp engine trim option are different but I think we got the best options with four model trims with the gt at the top. Still a great vehicle Kia Sorento well priced and kitted out.

My father drove one and one thing both me and my mother noticed is how stiff the ride seems to be. Feature content is good, pricing is attractive and both my mother & I agree it looks good. However the 3.3L V6 while strong when revved the fact it only has 252lb/ft torque is not lost on any of us; the Sorento falls behind the Mazda CX-9 or Ford Explorer with their peppy turbo powerplants even with their 7 seater configurations. The lack of captain chairs even as an option also hurts.
However all things considered we did rate is higher than the Highlander, Pilot and on par with the CX-9. The Sorento is definitely within contention, and we might have brought if it wasn't for the manager of the Kia dealership we went to which tried to pull a fast one on us.

I have found some Kia dealerships to be a bit dodgy, to put it mildly. I like the cars, though, and right now I'm looking at a used 2017 Sorento SXL at a BMW dealer.

MPG a flaw ?? In my 2004 Dodge Durango I average 14.5 mpg, combined. V8, 5.7 hemi and my worst was just under 10 and my best just over 16, that was all highway mileage.

New Subscriber. Awesome Review. Was that a Solid Sunshade? Could easily grow to love this vehicle. The Mesh Sunshade can easily turn you car into a Microwave when the temperature starts to climb.

I'm 13 and my brother is 10 and we are the only kids and we would use the 3rd row so this car is great, we used to have a minivan and we are used to a big van and that stuff so this car is a good downgrade but it is still great

  • @mountainhobo
    @mountainhobo 7 лет назад +3

The more I look at crossovers, the more I think "Get a minivan". What is an advantage of a crossover like that over a minivan? And no, crossovers are not cool.

    • @JBM425

Slightly higher ground clearance, for one thing. That might come in handy in a few situations such as snow and not just serious offroading.

I have Sorento 2016. Simply bad quality car. Break, 2nd row seat and ac spoiled in the first year. Lower parts like joints make noisy vibrating sound, at speed of 80 when you press hard brake you feel the car and front tyres shake strongly and it is scary... agent says this is normal as Kia ABS is not quality like Mercedes car. Battery doesn't last more than a year for some electric problem I think. To repair what I mentioned usd 4000!!! Very expensive. Agent didn't fix the issues while car is under warranty. simply Kia company and agents are selling commercial Kia cars which spoils fast and end up paying a lot just to fix simple parts. Seriously if I get a chance I would upload a video for what I mentioned along with receipts and prove documents of how Kia agents are liars and how sucks is Kia car. Never buy Kia unless you want to empty your pockets after your first year driving. I know you won't listen, good, congratulation, go ahead and good luck.
