Lest acknowledge a few things in this video - first and foremost, Marvin Gaye winning his one and only Grammy in his 20+ career. Secondly, that Grace Jones is unawarded and unacclaimed, not only for her contribution to reggae and international music, but also her fashion before Lil' Kim and BEFORE Lady Gaga, hell maybe even before Cher. Catch those teas!. Where's Grace's lifetime achievement award? BET, MTV, Vh1??????. Also, I can tell how Marvin won Anna Gaye over Frankie Beverly, Maurice White and Billy Paul back in the day - he owns the room before he even reaches the mic.

Genius sometimes don't get rewarded especially when you tell the truth. Marvin was too real for those fake fools

He was actually high on cocaine during this speech. He even said it himself years later 😐 amazing musician either way ✨

He couldn't have said that year's later? Because it was less than a year his father killed him.

Thanks also to the welcoming people of Ostend in Belgium, especially to Freddie Cousaert who brought Marvin Gaye back on the way of inspiration.

A huge fan of both Rick and Marvin. Rick also said in his book referring to when he thought Marvin was going to punch or act crazy with him(out of jealousy due to Rick being involved with Jan at this moment and prior to the Grammys, the crazy phone calls and taunting Marvin was giving Jan when she was staying with Rick)that he was ready and willing to fight Marvin on national television. But instead, Marvin whispered into Rick's ear, something like "take care of her. she gave me the best years of my life".
