What a shock when he hit the stage in 1980 opening up for Numan and he was amazing. A unique one-off and way ahead of his time with his use of electronics. It was great to see him again when he performed with Numan again at Wembley in ‘81.

He really took his ambiguity seriously to the extent that he would go to Record Company office parties in full bandage gear. Musician Kim Mitchell once said that there was a get-together of musicians at some recording studio and everyone was dressed in their casual clothing except Nash the Slash who had his face covered in his trademark bandages.

I was a big fan as a kid, so when I opened for him once I refused to hang with him backstage because I didn't want to ever know the man behind the mask. He'll always only be Nash to me.

Jeff was very interested in filling in the void that snake finger left which he shared with me after snake finger past during his tenor with the residents. He spoke about that in several interviews but sadly it never materialized. And as nash he was so much bigger than life it might make sense that he remained a mostly solo electro force . With of course the fm and gary Newman. Stuff under his belt too. But he was really a fan of the residents. Peace Christo 👽🐕🎶

Why did Gary Human retire from music? Was it because, from what I hear, from Phil Oakley of the Human League, of him being bullied, due to being of an alleged sexual persuasion, and having to leave his hometown, in Staines, I think it was? If it was, someone told me that he was bisexual, and I am sure he said, interestingly, that he also has a daughter, through artificial insemination. I reckon his real trouble, is sometimes fighting his alleged admitted to asbergers syndrome.

yeah .. the violinist Nash the Slash ( with Hat and ElektrickViolin) contributin a comebackshow of 8os electro icon GARY NUMAN. NUMAN THESE DAYS IS BETTER THAN EVER.And years ago HE TEAMED UP WITH his COOL secret inner hero MINDBROTHER: THE CANADIAN GARAGEROCK E-VIOLIN GENIUS >NASH THE SLASH< (R.i.P.), whom i like very much and could have organized a concert with in the 80s in germany/berlin. But the costs to invite somebody from canada are immense and i was an absolute beginner in the 80s, didnt have that big experience, except at least for a good start having setup the first ever SONIC YOUTH concert in Berlin Sputnik Kino (in former days in the North of berlin, the deadmans curve district Wedding; deadmasn curve also is a little electrotrash hit by Nash the Slash, who in response to Queen who never used Synthesizers on their records, never used/played the overrated instrument with the name > ELEKTRICGuitars, only VIOLINS or synths or unconventional string instruments like electrical mandolins....like me). The cinema Sputnik very recommrnd by the way, good program and spirit, nowadays is located in Kreuzberg/ Südstern, organized/continued by the brave, lovely, enthusiastic film art & music loving Andrea Stosiek .

MusicBiz always is tough and the money and support to not wellknown acts is not well enuff, too monocultural and ignorant to unconventional acts which are not megafamous and so i didnt find enuff interested supporters and sponsors. SO SAD. I still have the promo sheets and letters and stickers and fotos, he did send to me from canada...Some years ago Nash died much too early like many other of my heroes..Before he often teamed up with comeback 80s ELECTROpoptrash Hero Gary Numan who was rediscovered by his fans and followers like Nine Inch Nails Trent Reznor and was like me fascinated by NASHs Poptrash Art and masquerade: Nash was never showing his real face, hiding behind a mask like we all do nowadays. His Artist Cameo was dressing up totally masked and bandaged like the legendary fantasystory/horrorfilm figure THE INVISIBLE MAN.
Gary Numan had his comeback - he now does Stoner/Garagerock with electronics like Ministry or N:I:N. his fans, always did. Or like his secret rolemodel Nash the Slash, he often admitted that Nash has inspired him and so, loyally Gary teamed up with him in the 90s and beginning 2000s.. Numan is in a certain way famous again today, he even sells out smaller venues in germany sometimes.

Nash was only famous locally, they should name a street after him in Torionto or where he lived.. He did selected multimedial LiveEvents like me with my violinprojects, for example(also like me) Livesoundtracks to surreal silent movies like UN CHIEN ANDALOUSE by Bunuel or METROPOLIS. He mainly played and stayed in Canada and USA. A certain time we kept contact, over my space and mail, he always stayed in touch, also to to his fans thru a funny online diary, which he pretended was written by his critical Dog named Digger...Rest in Peace mindbrother.. Besides being a specialist for cool obscure interesting underground art & music like Blaine L. Reininger s violin driven collegues Tuxedomoon violin and culture extravagantia man tNash The Slash also was big Prokofjev fan , he did a electro garage hit called WOLF, He also was CovermutatTTing HIS FAVORITE mindbrothers and heroes, means, he, like me since today, transmutated covermutated chosen Popart by mindbros like THE WHO (Baba o Riley) Beatles, Stones (19th nervous breakdown) or KING CRIMSON (Starless with his former sideproject band FM; or 21st Century man by KC) into his surreal Violin Underground universe.

His Music & Live Gigs are documented in RUclips search for it its worth the thing ! When we spoke the last time he also was really pissed doff, very disapointed by the rip-off download for free mentality of Spotify & Co and RUclips , cause they didnt give the adequate share to the artists..Support your local and international artists!! Respect to Nash the Slash..(aka James Jeffery Plewman) R.I.P. ...

The bishop in the sky wants to tweak your thigh
Spirit made flesh in black, silken mesh
The monster wants her, his lust has new designs
Teething, seething, his greed is undefined
    Swingshift, soixante-neuf
Tied her to a tree with a skipping rope
    Swingshift , soixante-neuf
Keep on praying, you haven't got a hope
With morbid lust, he craves to cradle the grave
Charging his own with deeds unknown
The monster wants her, his lust has new designs
Teething, seething, his greed is undefined
    Swingshift, soixante-neuf
Tied her to a tree with a skipping rope

@oatstao It's clear you have an understanding of music, but I really don't understand your point. So he was the cousin of a music executive eh? He did his recordings between Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario. You are implying by him being the cousin of a music executive that he could manipulate his position, generate a carefully thought up gimmick, and then do what with that? Get rich? Nash was as starving an artist as any, obscure Canadians of the time had no selling value to the USA.

  • @gravity111587

@oatstao I would prefer a persona of a man wrapped in bandages, choosing to pursue music that involves his own expression on a personal level, whislt purposely isolating himself from mainstream influences and agenda- Or say... Justin Beiber? If you don't like this music go back to watching Much and let us enjoy our quirky "insane" musicians.

@oatstao So what if he was connected? Is he not an artist? Your entire opinion their seemed just asinine to me. Not that I wouldn't take a musical suggestion from you.

@gravity111587 the problem I"m having with it, is , who's cousin of an industry Executive is he?
BECAUSE we all know how easy it is to "express" ourselves (if you play music)with music, but how do you get industry distro? You have to be connected..and who is he connected to? It's not just some naiive situation here of this guy being artistic..It's well calculated..like Marilyn Manson..yet I have to admit, Nash does the destructo - intelligence much better.

@Whipper6709 it's my mistake really. delete my comments. I'm just not up to par with city specified genericas and insults. Give me the method to your madness and maybe I'lll come up with something commercially compatible with your outlook. Like I Said, I made a mistake. I cannot give my view of Nash the slash here on the lover of mummified satanic musicians channel. It's biased and that's ok. It shows your faults. I understand what he's trying to achieve, yet his fans are clueless- FM rocked!
