Y'know, it's easy, fun, and completely justified to mock Castle Shikigami 2's translation and voice acting, but it does do one thing I like WITHOUT the so-bad-it's-amazing modifier, and you saw it in the video - not a lot of video game voice acting has characters actively shouting over each other like most people ACTUALLY do during a heated argument, having two lines going at once.

They always think they can absorb Holy Water, and while they can absorb the fire, they can't absorb the bottle, so I usually get them with that. Castle Shinkigami 2 tho... It's like a combination between Zero Wing's intro and Megaman 8's voice acting. It's so bad it's good. Also those damned elephants' sounds got stuck on my head.
to add onto the "video games not respecting their own soundtrack" thing, I'd argue final toccata from symphony of the night also kinda fits, since the first time you hear it you're filled with fascination that there's a whole new damn castle to explore, but then you hear it over and over and over again almost everywhere in the castle and it just becomes annoying
Ever since I was "scarred" from an alarm that used a lot of high notes, I will always shrink in discomfort whenever I hear a song with with repeating high notes. The Ace Attorney song is a huge afender.
I found Metal Sonic's turning sound to be more annoying. And because he's the fastest with less traction, you quickly get sick of hearing his propulsion hum get interrupted with this weird noise..
Castle Shikigami 2 may give Mega Man 8, X7, and Mighty No 9 a run for their money for worst English voice acting, but Chaos Wars will make you cry like an anime fan on prom night.
(Yes, another SotN comment from me, sorry) the Final Toccata song in the Inverted Castle gets used in almost all of the areas, which is a shame because the place is already pretty boring since its just the main castle upside down with a few layout changes, and the repeated music adds to that boringness. The first castle has so many diverse songs to accompany different areas, like the eerie Chapel theme (Requiem for the Gods) to the upbeat Colosseum theme (Wandering Ghosts), but the Inverted Castle offers no such diversity, except for Lost Painting (which almost makes up for it, but it is still a bit annoying).
I can confirm you could hear the elephants from the other side of the street, together with the sound of the Snow Bros princesses getting captured and Raiden's random shouts.
The only time bad voice acting has not made me cringe is in SotN. Maybe its just because its a meme, but I always found it cringy in a good way, almost charming, and I was never bothered by it (maybe I just don't belong in this world). Alucard's actor did a pretty good job, and I also didn't really mind Dracula's voice, I think it actually fits his character in that game quite well. I was disappointed that the ps4 release redubbed the dialogue, but I guess its for the better (for Konami, not the fans). Where are you hiding the new Castlevanias, Konami?!
The voice acting was redubbed in the PSP remake of Castlevania - Rondo of Blood, which was called Castlevania The Dracula X Chronicles. RoB was remade there in 2.5D with new cutscenes and voice acting. The original game, along with Castlevania - Symphony of the Night, was also packed along with the remake. To keep consistency, RoB also recieved new voice acting (it wasn't even released outside of Japan before the PSP remake) and SotN had to receive the same treatment as well or otherwise the VAs of other games in the pack wouldn't be the same.
I'm glad that Mega Man 11 existed which not only make me forget the mistakes of past Mega Man games' bad voice acting & especially the ever hated Mighty No 9, but also for the option of turning the voices muted which is why I've always made it this way when playing MM11. Silent Protagonist is better which is why Mega Man is still muted in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
I use the Nintendo DSi as my morning alarm clock. The health refill sound in Mega Man 7 is very close to the DSi's alarm and it makes my heart rate double.
When it comes to sounds in Smash, the worst has to be Bayonetta. Even sometimes when you just do a normal jab combo, or a simple up-tilt, she will still freak the f*** out with an "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH."
That's nothing. In Smash Bros Brawl, when Dedede gets thrown off the ring, he'll make a "FGZZZWAAAARRRRRRRRGH" sound that's bizarre and unsettling to some. Almost as bad and long is Ganondorf.
I'm gonna say it. The only good Ness voice was from SSB64. Especially his KO quote. "OUCH!" There's something about it that's just so hilarious. Then in later games he jus tgot so quiet.
So glad there's a cheat code in Sonic Mania that lets you stop the Super Sonic music. Not in the classics though (unless you're talking about Sonic 3 Complete).
I KNOW A FUCKING GOOD ONE “ATHENA KING OF FIGHTERS: PSYCO BAAAAAAALLLLL” that bitch screams her moves at the top of her lungs in every king of fighters game and people spam that shit
12:35 *shows Ness using telekinesis to grab his opponent* I mean if it's Ness, Zelda, Mewtwo, Lucas, Palutena, and Bayonetta, how can u punch or kick him/her if he/she is telekinetically holding with psychic/magic power?
One had to wonder how bad DK's taste in music is to enjoy Sonic Spinball's Options Screen music, the Charlie Brown music in Resident Evil, and the opening sequence music from New Yoshi's Island.
I have my own list of "Leave my ears alone" (with reasons why): The womb theme in "TBOI: Rebirth" (it's disgusting and makes me wanna gag), the "launch detected" sound from "DEFCON: Everybody Dies" (probably intentional, the game is a warning of what will happen during a neuclear war), "Your Best Nightmare" from "Undertale" (it is so ANNOYINGLY frantic and scared, it sounds like the entire game is freaking out), the sound of the warden coming in "BO2: Zombies" (so much fucking nope), the Zot theme in "Tunnel Runner" (You typically hear this right before getting eaten by one of the "Zots", monsters that live in the labyrinthine tunnels of the game), and the "Sonic drowning theme" (again, so much fucking nope). There's much more, but I don't want to bore anybody with my comment.
The videogame's loudest and most annoying sound i've heard has to go to Monster Hunter Khezu's and Gigginox'es roars, not only are they loud, but they do it a *lot,* not only that, but your character gets stunned everytime it happens for like a legit 4 seconds.
Not every aspect of Mega Man 8's voice acting is inherently awful. I think the Robot Masters sound fine. Aside from Astro Man, though that may be due to the obnoxious filter overlaid on his voice. Frost Man might be my favorite, though. "ill crush u; i will beat u" And Duo, he's someone you may have to strain your ears a tiny bit to hear, but he sounds quite alright when talking, if a bit quiet. When the boss battle against him begins though, OH BOY DOES HE CONSTANTLY LOVE TO SCREAM AND YELL LIKE A RAGING ARIN HANSON TRYING TO OPEN PLAY-DOH CONTAINERS!!! Speaking of voice acting regarding this lovable blue scamp, I don't actually have an honest opinion on all the Robot Masters as depicted in Powered Up. I only have a vague idea. Like for instance, Guts Man sounding derpy, Elec Man sounding like some snob, Fire Man trying to be Yosemite Sam, Roll sounding annoyingly girly, and Light sounding exactly how he sounds in the 11th game. Also, apparently Wily is voiced by the same guy who'd later go on to voice Chill Penguin in Maverick Hunter X. But if the 11th game's voice acting has any faults, hoo boy, I'd say that sometimes the voice actors take their roles WAY too seriously! The only exceptions being the supporting cast of the Light Labs residence, although Auto kinda sounds a bit annoying with that 1998-era Sonic voice with a filter slapped on, though not nearly as obnoxious as Astro Man's. It only makes sense, his voice actor, Chris Hackney, is doubling down, also voicing Blast Man. The Robot Masters themselves are notable offenders, though Jesse Merlin as Impact Man gets a pass because I feel like that's part of his charm. A trope I've never liked is the trope where a character is voiced by someone of the opposite gender, in this case Bonnie Gordon as Bounce Man. I feel like this only makes sense because he's babby. Gordon gives a fine enough performance, but did she really have to give him a heart-wrenching death throe when he does the "split apart and bounce everywhere" thing? Going back to Chris Hackney, he hams it up a little bit too much as Blast Man, mainly putting WAYYY too much emphasis on "art" when saying "explosion is art" and chuckling in a way that kinda creeps me out a little bit. Chris Smith as Acid Man sounds alright, and the lines of differing moods make me laugh. But all the "blegh" kinda makes it a bit too over the top, and he even lets a "blegh" for when he's using his Speed Gear. I think Todd Haberkorn as Fuse Man is a bit too hissy and angry, indicating the zappy friend is a bit too serious and stern for the ultra-cheesy "prepare to diode" pun he sometimes makes when you meet him. And oh boy does Marc Swint ham things up way too much for Block Man, especially when he's hurting! It makes the "I won't lose, I won't" line sound more like he's fighting for his life rather than scuffling with Mega Man! I'll also give John C.Bailey a pass as Torch Man and Rush, simply because both roles get the job done at just the right intensity. As for Michael T.Coleman as Tundra Man, though, I'd say he makes the role a bit too dramatic, though I suppose drama is Tundra Man's name of the game, given his pretty-boy ice skater aesthetic. Given he's made by Dr. Cossack though, I wouldn't have minded a bit of a Russian edge to it, but what we got is fine. By far the worst offender is Kieth Silverstein as Wily. Did he really to say "YEEeeEEeEEeeEES" when just a simple "Yes..." would do? By far though, my favorite aspect of the 11th game's voice acting would be the hilarious sound Ben Diskin makes when Mega Man dies, as in loses a life and explodes into circles. In not-voice-acted games, it's more of a BAOUW-BAOUW-BAOUW sound, in 8 the voice actress (one Ruth Shiaishi, by the way) made a hilarious "WAH", but when you mess up and fall into spikes, for example, Diskin makes a hilarious scream like BLAAAAAHHH!!!!
I have to say, I agree with what you said about the voice acting for MM8, for as much shit as the game gets for this aspect, some of it is legitimately decent. The doofyness of Frost Man and the bombastic craziness of Grenade Man I found to be hilarious; but Aqua Man was the most annoying to listen to by far. And while I've never actually played MM11, I did hear it when I watched a let's play on RUclips once, and since I play Fire Emblem Fates, I was immediately reminded of Hayato when I heard Mega Man's voice, so I wasn't surprised to see that the same actor voiced both characters; and while it is fitting for him (on account of what age he's supposed to be mentally), it is still a little bit annoying to listen to him and take him seriously.
20:45 I can imagine the studio who localized this putting up flyers at the local community college: "VOICE-ACTING GIG! WILL PAY $100! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!"
22:04 I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. Even really good movies have trouble holding my interest. I've always had this problem when I was young, so it's not really so much an age thing as much as it's a not interested in movies thing.
Sonic 3's Super Theme 8s definitely more loud, repetitive & obnoxious than S3&K's Super Theme for sure. The icon for Mario Paint's Silence Option, a dog with a mask over the mouth also looks a bit like a nose when not selected...we were secretly warned about the sneezing! The Mario VS Yoshi Fatality picture, though... 😂 That cat bobbed its head in the exact same time to the music.

I've listened to the invincibility theme for hours upon hours, and I feel that without it, going super/hyper would feel incomplete. Sure, it's a 6 second loop, but there's a charm to it. In Sonic 3 complete, there's an option to make the invincibility theme just speed up the current theme like you had the speedy shoes, but when I used it the game felt wrong, as if something was missing. PS: There is a different invincibility theme in Sonic 3 alone (along with numerous other changed themes,) and it is a slightly longer loop.
To 5:07, have you ever played Dai Gyakuten Saiban, the Japanese exclusive Ace Attorney game? The pursuit is only played around 4 times, and it's one of the best. When it does play it feels intense and satisfying though.

Gotta admit, that was pretty funny, right?
I did not expect him to mention Ed, Edd n' Eddy.
Same, I remember playing it on PS2 when I was like 7.
to add onto the "video games not respecting their own soundtrack" thing, I'd argue final toccata from symphony of the night also kinda fits, since the first time you hear it you're filled with fascination that there's a whole new damn castle to explore, but then you hear it over and over and over again almost everywhere in the castle and it just becomes annoying
Ever since I was "scarred" from an alarm that used a lot of high notes, I will always shrink in discomfort whenever I hear a song with with repeating high notes. The Ace Attorney song is a huge afender.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle’s Multiplayer more. Metal Sonic’s Shield. I already hear it’s sound ringing and I haven’t played the game in 2 years or so.
I found Metal Sonic's turning sound to be more annoying. And because he's the fastest with less traction, you quickly get sick of hearing his propulsion hum get interrupted with this weird noise..
Castle Shikigami 2 may give Mega Man 8, X7, and Mighty No 9 a run for their money for worst English voice acting, but Chaos Wars will make you cry like an anime fan on prom night.
had to look it up and-... wow. I'm legit amazed.
He's WELL Aware of Final Toccata and it's infamy. And iirc, he agrees for the most part.
6 inverted areas uses Final Toccata and It's a note.
However, Lost Painting is my favourite Music in Castlevania SoTN.
LtCdr Xander I always though Dracula’s voice in particular was hilarious
The voice acting in the Trials Of Mana remake is also the good kind of cringy to me, I laughed my ass off
@@Logans_Login It's even better when you find out that Dracula's VA is the same guy who voiced Harry Mason.
20:44 This shit is on par with those absolutely godawful anime and hentai dubs in the 90's and early 2000's 💀
Dr Light sounds hilariously drunk and bored at the same time
I use the Nintendo DSi as my morning alarm clock.
@@ilikecurry2345 You know, I didn't find that one so bad. Weird yes, but I didn't run into enough Dedede's to really remember it.
1:01 This why Sonic 3 Complete or Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited exists....
I'm gonna say it. The only good Ness voice was from SSB64. Especially his KO quote. "OUCH!" There's something about it that's just so hilarious. Then in later games he jus tgot so quiet.
i saw that thumbnail and we may have to throw hands my good sir earthbound's soundtrack is amazing
edit: nvm you're okey
Don't worry, he'll talk about Smash Bros.
Oh, I knew he was going to trash PSI Fire spam. EarthBound actually didn't cross my mind with the thumbnail.
I actually dislike most of the Earthbound/Mother 2 soundtrack, come at me
Hah You say "Okey" When mentioning Ness.
Have the jackhammer cats in Speedy Gonzales Los Gatos Bandidos been covered yet?
I don't mind Dr. Light's voice in some weird way. It's like you can hear him talking through his beard
3:03 Oh my God, you pulled the joke about the British and their teeth.
@@EvolutionArchive23 you don't need to be a dick about it
Twice!
@@EvolutionArchive23 I just pointed it out, I'm not British.
@@EvolutionArchive23 Are you dumb or something? I didn't conplain about it.
@Dinomite Who hurt you?
I always felt that the Sonic & Knuckles invincibility theme is a punishment for cheesing the game
Dr. Light's acting made me think "wow good work Megaman certainly had 10× more emotion than Light's lines"
22:36 he sounds like he could sig the super smash bros melee dk rap on chunky kongs verse perfectly
12:35
*shows Ness using telekinesis to grab his opponent*
I mean if it's Ness, Zelda, Mewtwo, Lucas, Palutena, and Bayonetta, how can u punch or kick him/her if he/she is telekinetically holding with psychic/magic power?
That Wayne's World SNES sound is NOT a good one.
Also, 18:24 is beautiful.......
Not every aspect of Mega Man 8's voice acting is inherently awful. I think the Robot Masters sound fine. Aside from Astro Man, though that may be due to the obnoxious filter overlaid on his voice. Frost Man might be my favorite, though. "ill crush u; i will beat u"
And Duo, he's someone you may have to strain your ears a tiny bit to hear, but he sounds quite alright when talking, if a bit quiet.
16:19 “you must recuvah all den enerji immediately meguhman.” (Taken from Terminal Montage’s “Something about Mega Man X”
The reworked "farting clowns in the basement" is truly eerie, but it feels more... supernatural. It belongs to Silent Hill more than Resident Evil.
20:45 I can imagine the studio who localized this putting up flyers at the local community college:
"VOICE-ACTING GIG! WILL PAY $100! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!"
Personally, I like the Invincibility theme from S3&K.
It's not bad, but after hearing it nonstop for hours when playing, it gets pretty tedious
Chaotix and 3D Blasy are the only invencible musics i like
*Sees Mario Paint segment*
YOSHI NOOOO
Why would you do that?!
@DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou Paintality.
What i want is for that new remix of the outro to NOT leave my ears alone!
I swear they took the Japanese script in Castle Shikigami 2, put it in google translate 3 times, and voice acted the results.
22:04
I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. Even really good movies have trouble holding my interest. I've always had this problem when I was young, so it's not really so much an age thing as much as it's a not interested in movies thing.
I tried to dare and hear all these voice atrocities, but... I am very, very scary.
That cat bobbed its head in the exact same time to the music.
14:12 I see what you did there, pitting Olimar against Captain Falcon.
Yes, I still miss The Subspace Emissary.
When it comes to awful voice acting I thought you were going to bring up House of the Dead 2 but honestly... the Castle Shikigami stuff beats it.
If y’all thought Castle Shinkigami’s voice acting was bad...well let’s just say Chaos Wars voice acting makes Castle Shinkigami’s look like gold.
God everytime I hear that resident evil remaster music I can't help but think of that "Peanuts parents having sex" joke, its so hilarious. That other song too lmao.
If people are curious about the Phoenix Wright song and its true, actually good nature, check out Creepy Bad Endings 36. Be warned that doing so will spoil one of the best cases in all of Ace Attorney, so only do it if you have absolutely ZERO intention of ever playing the series.
For my musical ink blot test at 18:23. I just imagined some dude in a bit fat lady costume lumbering around and running into everything, causing mayhem.
Yea it
22:36 is that Crunch from Crash Bandicoot TAG Team Racing? Hahaha
Castle Shikigami 2 must've been translated in Google Translate. There is no way it wasn't.
Yo at the ending when they said “bro”
bro... i felt that 😔
To 5:07, have you ever played Dai Gyakuten Saiban, the Japanese exclusive Ace Attorney game? The pursuit is only played around 4 times, and it's one of the best. When it does play it feels intense and satisfying though.
My inkblot reading on the Resi music is that it sounds like the beginning of One Winged Angel... but Sephiroth is climbing a really long staircase and keeps taking breaks.
7:52 What a coincidence, I was just thinking about this Ed, Edd n' Eddy game and this video pops up.
