- It's all too easy to present myself as a negative person, I find it much easier (and more fun) to talk about the things I dislike than the things I love. It comes with the territory when you're English.
But the truth is, even though I've made four Leave My Ears Alone! videos where I point out the video game sound effects and songs that were horrible or plain annoying to my ear drums, there are far more that I can't get enough of.
So for a change of pace, this is Leave My Ears Alone! The Reversal, where we're going over the sound effects from this medium I adore and why I do.
The original Don't Leave My Ears Alone: • Don't Leave My Ears Al...

This guys a lifesaver!
I should have known the sound was Tails getting hurt.
Imagine being Tails, casually taking down badniks in the Emerald Hill Zone, when you suddenly get teleported to the Icecap Zone only to be killed by an Eggman Monitor moments later.
OUCH! … Sonic…
"Now if only Sonic games had marriage options as well..."
Please, don't give them ideas.
In 2006 there was a princess that shouldn't exist, but took something important from Sonic.
the fans or sega?

@@zeldasmetaknight God this sounds so much like ,,Marisa stole something precious from Alice"
Information obtained.
Also in Gen 5, how a Pokemon enters the battle depends on its weight most of the time. If the Pokemon is really heavy (e.g. Snorlax, Tyranitar, Metagross), it will slam the ground below with an awesome sound, accompanied by dust being blown underneath.
Here a small list of video game sounds that are really, really satisfying to me.
- The sound of a Creeper dying in Minecraft.
- Also from Minecraft, the little 'ding!' from getting experience, as well as the little jingle that plays when you level up.
- The two-note jingle that plays when you accomplish a goal in Spore.
- Whatever the sound that plays when you increase you max life in Terraria is, as the different indescribable but equally magical sound that plays when you increase your max mana.
- The 1-Up jingle from the Super Mario Galaxy games, and that version specifically.
-The little jingle that plays when you save your progress in literally any mainline Pokemon game.
I love the Starman theme from the Galaxy games.
Hollow knight item obtained sound
My favorite sound effect ever is probably the Super Effective sound from Pokemon gen 2
I FOUND YOU! man, i watched this channel years ago when i was a kid, and now here i am rewatching every "Creepy bad endings". Thank you for your work!

Be careful why you wish for...
*Vietnam Flashbacks to Sonic 06 kissing scene*
Well, he said options, I don't think many people would choose Elise. lol
It's no use
@Agent 005 Regarding your edit, it turns out that Sonic was only /mostly dead/. You see there's a difference between being mostly dead, and all dead.
Knuckles in the back: Oh no
Honestly people are being pointlessly over dramatic about it.
one of these days, the "Lucky" sound effect from Paper Mario will appear
one day
Yoshi Yoshi! It's the most enjoyable sound effect indeed
7th like
*Lucky*
Oh yeah, Paper Mario has lots of satisfying sounds, my favourite would have to be a jingle in TTYD when buff/debuff is removed and they also jump and make this sound for every single buff removed one at a time, they surely knew it's a good one.
ten day
"Is it wrong I love the regular Sonic hurt sound from Sonic games, most commonly associated with Tails?"
Oh. so thats why.
Théophile Caceres I associate the sound of me losing rings in the special stage with Tails
@@kingdededelicious lmao same
@@kingdededelicious Bringing Tails actually INCREASES the ring requirements to pass each segment because 2 players. Even though only Sonic gets to go Super. Yeah… nice thinking there, Sonic Team. Though ofC you can't blame Tails for the blind turns. That's part of why S3&K is superior: better Special Stages and Tails getting a chance to benefit from the Emeralds. Too bad hardly anyone played it in its day because Lock-On.
Tails and whoisthisgit the Music Maker
I have a recent story.
In my Pokemon White 2 playthrough, I got to Kyurem and initialized with a quick ball, as always. MISS. There goes the quick ball. So I go about the battle... And get it low enough to start chuckin' balls at it. Used up most of them. Eventually it got to the point where I was falling asleep MID-BATTLE. I can imagine my character just drowsily throwing pokeballs, them WAY undershotting, and both Kyurem and my Zoroark staring at me. Especially my Zoroark.
Most certainly irrelevant but I want to share it anyways.
When I first heard Great Cave Offensive's version of Green Greens, I wondered if I was near the end already, because it felt like something I would hear at an award ceremony or a victory screen.
Funny you say that; you hear the coda of that very theme at the end of Milky Way Wishes.
@@CarbonRollerCaco Oh that's true! I knew that part of the end theme was Green Greens, but I never made the connection that it was a reprise of that specific version.
3:42 this was a gargantuan gaming gaffes moment for me, as for the longest time, I never knew that the platform with the waterfall was the "odd one out" and passable, which leads to a treasure. As such, this treasure was the only thing keeping me from 100%ing Kirby Super Star Ultra. I found the ??? planet in Milky Way Wishes, beat the True Arena, and beat Helper to Hero with every helper, but that treasure, man.
I found the mystery planet by total accident in the original version.
Whenever you collect a Chaos Emerald it plays a pretty pleasing jingle imo.
Oh, i also love the shrieking sound of a dying monster from Golden Sun ^^
I definitely love both of those sound effects.
The CE jingle sounds like a Mario 1-Up homage and even becomes the standard Sonic 1-Up jingle starting with Adventure 1. Ironic that the game that allowed Sega to get a decent foothold in home video gaming and compete with Nintendo openly pays so much respect to Nintendo's flagship property. Too bad Sega of America's marketing then treated Nintendo like nothing but an enemy and downplayed so much of Sonic's nuance. Genesis may do what Nintendon't, but Sonic loves 'em anyway.
Super Contra has a lot of nostalgic sounds to me. The screams of the aliens when they get struck by a spread shot, the *Fwwweeeehhh* of the laser gun, and especially the *chik chik chik* of your footsteps when the victory fanfare fades out after the first boss fight against the helicopter as you march to Level 2. God, I never get tired of it.
Yay everyone's favourite British boy is back 😂
1:40 - This sentence is way funnier than it has any right to be.
4:51 - Yeah right, this game is pretty nostalgic, every time you talk about it on these videos it brings back a lot of memories.
12:40 - Wait, what? Who are you talking about here? You can't just leave this bomb and not give any answers, now I really feel like I need to know this for some reason.
From Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, the whistle Gritty Goombas make when they summon sandstorms and the "Great!" Bros attack hits.
From Splatoon 2, Ink Armor's activation sound.
whoisthisgit I love the videos you post, my favorite type of videos are Game Genie Fun and creepy endings. You're one of my favorite youtuber and you motivated my to make my own smash channel, and since I don't have the best voice or a mic I make videos using text just like you, I hope I can be just as successful as you in the future.
I agree about the fact he posts quality content
Thanks, now the "oh" from the guards of metal gear got stuck on my head
Gotta admit, I really thought that you used a code or something that turned you into a tiny version of Snake when you had the walk through walls cheat on.
I got hit with so much nostalgia in this episode. Its beautiful. Looking back at my memories with gaming and I was like toddler/very young child
My favorite sound from Super Metroid would probably be the speedboost and then shinespark sound. Something about it is just nice to hear and the speed youre moving at is also satisfying and fits the sound well.
The Kingdom Hearts 1 Monster Hit sound is pleasing and sounds wonderful. A hit to a Heartless's body is accompanied by a sound that is amazing and wonderful. Every time I hear it, I instantly feel satisfied. I am playing the PS2 original, and not the 1.5 remix, and I have no idea if they changed it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who is tickled like such by Raphel and Shamir's C support. I replayed that Raphael line a few too many times. A few of Caspar's lines have such an effect on me as well, such as the way he says "Smitten?" in his and Hilda's support, as well as his confused "Uhh... okaaay...?" in his and Dorothea's.
The neck-snapping sound. A melody so awesome it lets you warp through locked doors.
Adding to the bit about super Metroid, Mother Brain’s hand laser blast thing. There’s something about it that’s just so pleasing to the ears.
Cool introduction! Also, yes the Dreamcast and Playstation Original had the best turn on startups.
Hey git, that last Most Powerful Characters episode got me thinking about what other characters can restore their health using relatively easy means, and I found another. He might be worthy of an episode.
His name is Lo Wang, specifically the one from the original Shadow Warrior. On top of being a ninja master, he's also a classic FPS hero which means he has a ton of insane weapons. However, he can refill his health by punching training dummies. In fact, he can refill past 100 health , meaning he can go beyond what normal medical equipment can treat. This means he gains superhuman physical condition just by punching training dummies.
Dummies might seem uncommon compared to chairs, but if you're attacking an enemy ninja dojo you can probably find at least one, which means Lo Wang has a trump card against one of gaming's most common high-level threats. And if that doesn't work, he has a nuke launcher.
So curious question, do you have a favorite breakdown in the ace attorney series where the true culprit is caught?
Mine is the culprit of last case of the second game
One sound effect I'll always love.
Like Metroid's Item Get jingle, Zelda's will always be a joy to hear, too.
Dang, that metroid prime music for upgrading always gives me goosebumps of delight!
That Green Greens remix for Crystal/Garden Areas is amazing, sure, but in my opinion the best sound in GCO is the treasure-getting sound. Especially when slowed down. It's beautiful, just like the getting ability jingle from the same game.
I don't know why but the sound that is made when you switch menus in Burnout Paradice(Post menu revamp) is satisfying
I like:
-saturn startup
-dreamcast startup
-ps2 startup
-psp startup
-ps3 startup
-xbox 360 startup
The ps2 startup can turn into the worst sound real quick...
PS2 startup makes me feel like I’m entering a magical realm
The Dreamcast tune makes me want to sleep (In a good way), and the PSX's opening theme. just makes you want to get ready for an awesome journey and experience.
"you'd just wander around pitch-dark caves with little to discover other than danger" I have to agree
the two title loop themes, the start menu sound effect, and the menu music from nocturne for the ps2.....so good
Speaking of console start up sounds: the GBA has a wonderful one. Great vid as always, git!
I love the sound the homing attack makes in sonic heroes and adventure.
I loved just about all the music that was in Kirby Super Star. Superb soundtrack up there with greats like Rise of the Triad and Mega Man X for me! When I first heard the Green Greens epic remix, I was floored as a kid by how awesome it was!
actually it isnt easy to notice, but the hyper beam does have a distinction: it echos. it's also the sound used with a fully charged plasma beam.
12:35 I think we found an excuse for another Sonic RPG! I'd really love this.
gotta be honest, these videos where you look at positive aspects of certain things rather than shitting on stuff are much more fun to watch. could just be me tho
The PS1 opening leaves me on edge, as a matter of fact. It just sounds so creepy to me, kinda like a bad creepy ending. Like I did something wrong and I can't fix it.
look up ps1 booting errors then that shit's nightmarish
i love the sound Rob's side B makes in ultimate
I always love OST from Harvest Moon Hero of Leaf Valley (especially when it's raining inside the game). Slow but beautiful OST with quiet village and beautiful nature makes me want to live in countryside and hearing this OST when i'm relaxing in front of my house
Why did I feel like I wanted another one of this series?
Man the dreamcast startup music is so good also about great cave offensive is cave story and Undertale before they where a thing and yes I love the pokeball click sound in gen 3. Now my favorite beam sound effect in super Metroid is the hyper beam’s charge up it just sounds so powerful also yeah the metal gear alert sound is one of my favorite sound effects in anything besides dragon ball attack sound effects.
Chaos emerald sound. I hear it every I complete something hard in life or a video game.
Also on 4:27 did I just see my name?
I can go on with all with sound effects and music.
- Donkey Kong Country Bonus theme (might recognize from "Godzilla dance")
- Bejeweled Twist Fruit gem explosion (I bet no one knows what that game is)
- Minecraft "Item Pick up" sound
I want to continue but this list would be too long.
There needs to be a like “best voice line video” cause I think that would be neat.... I also want to see all the danganronpa protags saying “NO THATS WRONG” and such
*gun shoot* some day we might have danganronpa, the whole franchise has bad endings as well as interesting ways to die from executions.
Hornets HollowKnight lol hope lol despair
I really like the announcer from Fatal Fury 1, 2 and Special, the way he say ''Round'' and ''Fight!'' Is oddly satisfying.
I would say Rune factory soundtracks, i really love how Marvelous in my oppinion put much more effort making the soundtrack than what its supposed to be, a spinoff to Harvest moon/Story of seasons
Especialy the ones from Frontier, 3, and 4 (Then again i love the series in general)
I would love seeing you talk again about Harvest moon games again Git
Ooh i forgot to add this, the leveling up sound effect is deffinitly one of my favorite
The absolutely love the item get theme in the victory theme for samus for smash
Ah, fresh new year and now to wait for Oddworld Stranger's Wrath to be in creepy time limits, that 3 min countdown is just hell
12:35 (reads the text) No. Please no.
You know what's good to my ears?
Sonic Mania Music.
Seriously, if your fangame has Sonic Mania Music, I'll instantly play it.
Super Star Ultra was one of my favorite ds games just because of the music
Of course Kirby would be here.
Also, "no American played the Amiga"
I beg your pardon, my father had an Amiga, and I LOVED it!
I demand Personified Fear be used for the next Leave My Ears Alone episode.
Pokemon GBA has incredible sound design in general. Those games are just so fucking pleasing to the ears.
Some sounds I like.....
* The Spike sound from classic Sonic. Yep, another sound you hear often when abusing Tails....
* The sound when you stomp a Goomba in NES Mario games.
* Almost every sound from Unreal Tournament. Especially the taunts "You be dead!" "I just slaughtered that guy!" "My house!" "Boom!". I also love the death screams. Also the jingle when the red team scores a point.
* The KO screams in Tekken 3. Especially Heihachi's epic "GURAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!!!".
* The levelup sound in later Techmo Koei Musou games, like Dynasty Warriors and Warriors Orochi. Especially when you get an EXP Fever going, and start getting several levelups in a second.
For me, Route 15 from Pokemon X and Y is one of my most favorite soundtracks in the entire franchise.
Speaking of Fire Emblem the critical hit trigger sfx from Awakening is cathartic to me.
Though in FEH it's the only sfx you'll hear.
3:11 my favorite version of green greens is Sparkling Star(yes I consider it a version of green greens)
if normal green greens is the start of a journey, Sparkling Star is the journey's end and it's so beautiful. even calling back to normal green greens by part of it being 8-bit. the track is one of the few pieces of video game music that nearly makes me cry just by hearing it(the other being His theme, which you would probably understand when given context). also being pat void termina just makes it better, because the green greens part doesn't overstay it's welcome and they sound good together. the point is. few kirby remixes are as good as the ones HAL put out themselves. kind dedede's theme is a good example but sparkling star takes it to a whole new level.
4:09 congrats on the shiny Metagross my guy
The sound effect of Holy in Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. It's just powerful and pleasant all at the same time.
On the topic of Castlevania, how about the first game's stage clear tune?
2 sounds i really like are
1. The kingdom hearts menu sound. When you go through the menu there is this whistle noise... It is so calming. But also if you press the x button in the menu it is so satisfying xD
2. I really like the music of Spyros season of fire. Especially the eird slurp sound it makes when you pick up sth
How I felt playing the Sonic Colors theme on DS when scrolling through the music
*REACH FOR THE STARS TONIIIIIIIIIGHT*
12:36: Sonic Chronicles would like to have a word with you (since you brought up that game in a video about Cream and Cheese).
Is that a Racing game in this video?
Yeeeessssss!!!
I really like the computer room theme from super metroid
Oh man, when I heard ps1 and then Dreamcast start up sounds I felt nostalgic^^
Despite not having played any Dreamcast games on original console I love this sound and also am very big fan of Metroid obtaining new item/weapon sound)
P.S. Probably no one is gonna read this comment but I thought I'd share it anyway....
Paper Mario's noises are also great!
Don't leave my Ears alone. We got that Konami memories
The co-driver in DiRT RALLY is gordon ramsay on masterchef kids
Actually whenever i get hurt in real life the sonic hurt sound always plays in my mind xd
I have one more.
The Peashooter sound in cuphead.
Edit: Also Funfair Fever if were counting music.
The Persona 3/4 social link rank up sound
Glad someone agrees the Crystal Field and Mystery Paradise is great.
You know what can't leave anybody's ears alone
A pufferfish "Eugh"
Primal Dialga Theme needs a mention in one of these
To add to the "Metroid power-up item get" jingle, what about Zero Mission's Fully Powered Suit jingle?
For the third part include the sound of the BMW M3 GTR from Need For Speed Most Wanted
My favorite video game sound is when Exor slams into Bowser’s Castle in SMRPG.
That’s a good one. Makes your brain rattle in your skull.
7:00 I remember dying like this in mope.io only without DK and because of lag
Cute way to come out
The Plants Vs Zombies game (especially PvZ1),has an amazing soundtrack, definitely a Dont Leave My Ears Alone. But the NOOOOOOOOO sound when you lose belongs in a Leave my Ears alone.
Everyone's gonna hate me when I say this, but...
Every Popit sound from the LBP games
7:32 what sonic game or hack has the feature of switching entire levels in the 2 player mode???
THAT'S WHAT I WANNA KNOW
Raphael was the only character I didn’t recruit, I feel bad now...
Level-up fanfare from Shining Force III on the Saturn when? :-p
Huh. A Shiny Metagross.
the metroid item get sound star bound has those to
Missed u :,3
I like these other series
Why am I in the thumbnail
oh no
yay new video
Yeah, that's it! Get it right in my ears!
