Pokemon B/W actually added in a separate health beeping music. Then, for whatever reason, they replaced it with the same monotonous beeping in the next games.
Health beeping music was a good idea to an extent but the *problem* is that it overrides the other music, and when there are songs that only appear in single battles, i would rather hear the boss fight music instead of that theme. Such as a champion battle, where being able to hear the unique theme matters the most, but those same battles also are easy to get on red health during. A solution to this could be making a red health variant of each theme, but that seems a bit extreme to me. Unless they did that though, it isnt worth it, because it *completely* undermines the tone of important fights in the game. Now the "final pokemon in a gym battle changes the theme" thing is something I do want back.

Thank god I’m not the only one who hates the music in Knuckles’ stages. Those parts in Sonic Adventure 2 were among the few times in any video game that I actually turned off the music.
I wonder if the 'Bah' sound is actually a separate MIDI track acting as a trigger for events in the game, and playing simultaneously with the audio track. If you listen to it, it sounds like the audio track and the 'bahs' are rendered differently, like they are two separate audio tracks being played together instead of a single audio track. I'm probably wrong about that, but it's cool to think about. If it is true, it might explain why you dislike it. It sounds 'off' but you don't really understand what sounds 'off' about it.
1:24 I hear they made the music super loud to take advantage of the Dreamcast's volume cap, which made music that loud sound more crunchy, then forgot to turn down the volume when porting it to other consoles that don't have that feature.
When the Master Emerald breaks and Rouge screams, I always joked that it was because an emerald shard flew into her eye. Also if modern mumble rap (or most modern rap) was an eighth as good as any of the old rap songs for Knuckles stages, I wouldn't think quite as lowly of modern rap. As it stands, I bet I could drop a whole album of frenzied asthma attacks and trick some poor bastard into thinking it's music. Slap in the same rap beat (you all know the one) that's been in most rap music since 2010 and that's the whole song. And it won't sound terribly different from the hyperventilation that we hear in a lot of mumble rap.
I prefer Yoshi to have his signature Andrew Sabiston voice as heard in the Super Mario World cartoons. At least that version has some pretty memorable lines like “Mama Luigi” and “Fireballs, yum!”
I heard the sound engineering in the Dreamcast version of SA2 is much better. If that’s true, then how did the conversion screwed up the sound in the definitive Battle version for the GameCube?
I liked most of the Knuckles raps ( Meteor Herd and Pumpkin Hill were my jam and in battle mode with my sister I would always go to the highest point in the levels and then drill all the way to the bottom). The lines were cut off because the cutscenes were made for Japanese voices, but the fact that they never fixed the bad sound mixing in the PC ports will always bother me. The voice acting was pretty good for the time, and I loved Eggman and Sonic's VA's (except for Rouge, that sounded way too whiny, and Tails, that talked like he was reading from the script at all times). The "bah" in New Soup is actually an obscure gameplay mechanic where certain enemies respond to it in certain ways. For example, goombas do a little hop whenever the "bah" plays, as you can see at certain points in this video. May not seem like much, but it can potentially screw you over if you're not careful. Also, the baby yoshis do a little dance when they hear a "bah." Can't help but agree that the baby yoshis need to shut up, though.
The issue with the vast majority of modern Nintendo games' soundtrack is the lack of enticing, complex melodies. Even Wise's Tropical Freeze, one of the best soundtrack of the last 5 years, pales in comparison to Wise and Fisher's contribution to the SNES trilogy.

New Super Mario Bros, but every note is BAH
The "bah" in New Soup is actually an obscure gameplay mechanic where certain enemies respond to it in certain ways. For example, goombas do a little hop whenever the "bah" plays, as you can see at certain points in this video. May not seem like much, but it can potentially screw you over if you're not careful. Also, the baby yoshis do a little dance when they hear a "bah." Can't help but agree that the baby yoshis need to shut up, though.
Koopas stop and dance, spinies hop and do a 180, and... pokeys turn into oranges. Wut?
The issue with the vast majority of modern Nintendo games' soundtrack is the lack of enticing, complex melodies. Even Wise's Tropical Freeze, one of the best soundtrack of the last 5 years, pales in comparison to Wise and Fisher's contribution to the SNES trilogy.
