Recorded live at the Great Hall of the Moscow conservatoire, 30 06 2000.
Karen Kornienko was born in 1974. After graduating from the Moscow conservatoire where he studied under professors E. Malinin and V. Gornostaeva from 1993 to 1998, he then continued as a postgraduate student under professor V. Gornostaeva until 2000.
Karen Kornienko was a prizewinner at the I and II International Scriabin piano competitions in Nizhny Novgorod (1995) and Moscow (2000), and won the Grand Prix and four special prizes in the II International Rachmaninov competition in Moscow in 1997. He is a Laureate of the "New Names" International Charity Programme and is a soloist of the Moscow State Philharmony. He has toured extensively in Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Austria, Italy and Kuwait.
Mstislav Rostropovich highly appreciates Karen's talent, and invited him to perform at the Evian's festival in France, where he played Rachmaninov's III piano concerto with great success. In 1999 he had a Rachmaninov recital on the "Settimane musicale di Stresa" festival. Many of his recitals were broadcasted by radio and television companies (BBC, Radio of Russia, Radio "Orpheus", canal "Culture" and others). Karen Kornienko is very interested in the genre of piano transcriptions, and has given-solo programmes of his own transcriptions as a regular part of his repertoire.
In 2002 there were published scores of the Symphonic suite by K.Kornienko on P.Tchaikovsky ballet «The Nutcracker» and his new CD, consisting only of his arrangements of music to «Swan Lake» and «The Nutcracker» by P.Tchaikovsky and to Three Fairy tail pictures («Baba Yaga», «Magical Lake», «Kikimora») for the symphony orchestra by A.Liadov.
"Among the great number of young pianists, Karen Kornienko stands out as having start quality with a combination of qualities that are rarely concentrated in one performer The-peculiartty of his performance is high professionalism, virtuosity, intuition, a diverse and polyphonic sound palette, sense of style, and, at the same time, deep musicality and spirituality."
Professor A. Nasedkin, People's Artist of Russia.
"I know the pianist Karen Kornienko, as a great creative artist and a vivid performer. All he performs compels the listener. His artistic talent shows a very wide scale of thinking. As an artist he is seen first of all as a romanticist. His hands easily master technical difficulties many of which are practically insuperable for others, and yet he conveys a free, natural sound. For example, the 24 Etudes-by Chopin were learned and performed in recitals over a 12-month period as if they fell naturally under his hands.
But we should not set limits on the spectrum of his talents simply as a performer of remantic music Karen Kornienko is also a talented composer and this brings other specific gifts to his potential career. He surpasses traditional boundaries and promises to be one of the exceptional artists of the future".
Professor V. Gomostaeva, People's Artist of Russia.
"Karen Kornienko is a concert pianist of outstanding talent, a brilliant interpreter arid virtuoso".
Profesor.V. Merzhanov, People's Artist of the USSR.
I think this is the best interpretation of this wonderful piece in the www
Incredible
Thank you!
Thank you for making that Fantaisie very clear to the listener. Among so many notes and chords, you make us really understand (and feel) the music.
Thank you for your comment!

Played this in college. Tough as nails, but beautiful. The melodies (and counter melodies), when pulled from the frantic, urgent tempo and accompaniment, are full of a melancholy sweetness; they are destined to touch the soul of any feeling musician. This is one of the most beautiful interpretations of this song I've heard yet.
i prefer szidon as it seems more passionate i play it but yes very difficult
@@MegaPianogeniusСидон-великоленен! Более Страстного исполнения, чем у него, я не слышал не у кого!

Благодарю, Владимир!
his face while playing he is so cuteee
Wow! This is a great version!
Bravissimo!!!
This is a dazzling, exquisite performance. I have heard many different interpretations of this extraordinary work and this is my favorite. If I had to name a performance of this work which I would call "perfection", it would be this one. I suspect the great Scriabin himself might say that this is exactly what he had in mind when he wrote it.
Thank you very much!
Dope/rad as heck playing
Wowzers , loved it
Espléndida obra y espléndido pianista.
My favorite recording of this piece..
Thank you for your comment!
Hell, this is the work of a true genius. Damn hard to play, too ^^. Allstar scriabin track. Superb performance, too.
I'm learning this piece now and I really enjoy your playing... thank you so much for uploading this video. I hope that I can go to your concert in the future!
Magnificent!
Thank you!
c'è tutto il simbolismo di Sctriabin in questa superba interpretazione

Very Lovely Interpretation! Probably one of the best out there! 16 years ago is a long time and I wish the audio was better.. Would you ever consider coming back to this lovely piece and recording it on your more modern recording systems! Would love to hear it. Hope your day is good! :)

This is a marvellous performance, Karen! I'm working on this now and I'm quite obsessed with it, but it's probably the most difficult piece I've ever tackled - I can only aspire to imbue it with the caprice and artistry that you achieve here 👌
Thanks a lot, Luke! I wish you good luck in Scriabin's Fantasy!
If you want, my friend, I can show you some of my secrets in Scriabin's fantasy 😊
Valorizza splendidamente la partitura di Scriabin
Grazie
Great! No one plays this in America.
Wow!
0:32 start
👍
Intense.
This piece is so difficult.
Splendida esecuzione!!!
Thank you for your comment!
хотелось бы больше прозрачности, это же Скрябин...а в целом хорошо.
Наверное, последний талант из генерации пианистов, у которых за техникой присутствует ещё и душа...современные молодые дарования техничны, но все же "плоские", к сожалению.
@AristYdes /watch?v=9uFh55FGsWI - Xiayin Wang's recording, I don't think Glemser's is on RUclips.
@stevenryhudi You said it perfectly
@AristYdes Not true. Bernd Glemser and Xiayin Wang have recorded this piece. Both interpretations are beautiful. Have a listen, tell me what you think.
I love the Glemser recording!
Of course Sofronitsky is the "overall best" interpreter of Scriabin´s music, he learned how to plat it directly from the genius. But I do not prefer every single one of his interpretations. Why hasn´t anybody commented about Lazar Berman´s Fantasie version? It has to be among the best, certainly better than the Sofronitsky´s version on YT.
billmarrufo Sofronitsky never met the great Alexander Scriabin, unfortunately.
Richter's is the best.
Horowitz and Neuhaus are also great
Sehr schlecht! Keine Vibration!
Man muss nicht drücken!
