You can also use a knife and a cutting board. Knife needs to be sharp and a big blade like a cooks or chefs knife. One hand on handle and palm of other hand on back of blade, push down firmly and you get the exact same shearing action that you would get using the plane blade guillotine and cuts just as neat.
