Floridians are quite resilient. And while it will take a minute to rebuild, it will, and it will be back and better than ever.
We lived there for 10 years from 1972 till 1982. It was a quiet small town then. It's grown hugely since. In our 10 years we never had one hurricane. Odd how things are.

Yes this is incredibly sad but dont forget NC and TN. Compared to what they are dealing with this doesnt really compare. When you choose to live in FL you know this is always a possibility. There is always risk involved living in tropical climates. You have time to prepare. The people in NC and TN had no time and ability to prepare for such a disaster. The mountains funneled all that water down and they were helpless
LOL, those places flood all the time. I'm 50 and have been seeing those areas flood on the news since I was a little kid. They just keep rebuilding the same stupid houses. Where the stilt houses? At least here in FL we have proper building codes, as long as you're not on the coast or hit by a tornado, you're OK. I never lost power, only internet. This is because all out stuff gets built properly, unlike those areas you mentioned.

NONE of it was from Helene. My condo complex is in this video and all of the damage being shown is new, along with the damage to the dock, the parking lot (all of the carports had just been replaced) and the roof being torn off at The Crows Nest restaurant.

Lots of dry windburn of tree leaves, shrubs stripped of leaves. Two weeks later, new leaves are bursting forth in abundance. No flooding 8 miles from the coast.
