- Drone footage captured on the morning of October 10 shows the extensive damage inflicted by Hurricane Milton on the city of Venice, Florida. The hurricane, which struck Florida's west coast as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph (205 kph), spawned deadly tornadoes, destroyed homes, and left over 3 million customers without power. Although it was a dangerous storm, it was less severe than the Category 5 hurricane that had initially threatened the state. In this video, witness the aftermath and destruction as the community begins to assess the damage and recover.

Houses built more than 40 years ago would have all kinds of roof damage. It is s testament to building codes that so many houses had zero roof damage.
Amazing what well placed regulations can do for everyone’s safety.
@@fatesrequiem A lot of people hate all government regulation, but in most cases, it is intended to do something important.
I thought it wss going to be worse honestly. Prayers to Florida
Embora não a conteceu na sua casa fala qualquer gostam.
Milton was so overrated the weather people always get it wrong. Im convinced they over hype these storms for more clicks.
@user-rw718 Same! Then when a nasty one rolls in less people take it seriously.
The mercy of God! One day, no mercy will be extended. This is why we must repent and be baptized and obey His will while mercy lingers. (See Matthew 24-25)
I think everyone was so freaked after Helene and the news was crazy dramatic over Milton that it freaked everyone out even more
while there is a lot of damage, out of all the daylight videos I've seen it looks much better then they expected... hope that is true.
A picture paints a thousand words ...😢 thanks for that.
@@ellentau427 I'm here in Florida looking at it
@@ellentau427 I was referring to being able to walk outside this morning with no boots up to my thighs in water because the water has receded. There is catastrophic damages which is what I had stated but when the weather forecaster said there was going to be 15 ft surges in all this water I'm walking outside and there's no water cuz it has all receded
Yes this is incredibly sad but dont forget NC and TN. Compared to what they are dealing with this doesnt really compare. When you choose to live in FL you know this is always a possibility. There is always risk involved living in tropical climates. You have time to prepare. The people in NC and TN had no time and ability to prepare for such a disaster. The mountains funneled all that water down and they were helpless
LOL, those places flood all the time. I'm 50 and have been seeing those areas flood on the news since I was a little kid. They just keep rebuilding the same stupid houses. Where the stilt houses? At least here in FL we have proper building codes, as long as you're not on the coast or hit by a tornado, you're OK. I never lost power, only internet. This is because all out stuff gets built properly, unlike those areas you mentioned.
@@mikeworkman3593 ignorance. We get floods, but not like we got with Helene. Our water service was completely destroyed. There's been no running water for 13 days now and they're telling us it will STILL be "weeks" before service is back up. The water lines were buried many feet below ground and they were STILL washed away. Entire communities that have been here for more than 100 years were completely wiped off the map. So please, spare me your sto opid comments. You don't know what you're talking about.
Have never been to Venice, after watching this video this place is like a little heaven on earth so tranquil...🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴🌴
It's a little-known slice of heaven. A truly wonderful small town filled with very nice folks from all over the world. It's about 15 miles south of Siesta Key, which was landfall for Milton. Floridians are quite resilient. And while it will take a minute to rebuild, it will, and it will be back and better than ever.
We lived there for 10 years from 1972 till 1982. It was a quiet small town then. It's grown hugely since. In our 10 years we never had one hurricane. Odd how things are.
@@philipkane9393 I'm sorry. Bought a place there just last year. My stars are bad, I guess. Should have skipped it. What a muddy mess. Won't be heading back for a month or two. Clean that mess up!

He sailed to Tampa through Helen didn’t he? Crazy bastard
This is Venice. I thought the sailboat guy was in Tampa
It’s actually not that bad.
And you live where???
This is just a tiny part of Venice Island. There was no footage from the main part of Venice. There are at least three trailer parks there and most of them housed elderly people. Seeing there's no footage from the parts of Venice that were much more vulnerable, saying it's "not that bad" is wrong.
Where's the big storm surge?Helene looks way worse than this

@@xxdesertstorm I don't know that there's anything political about saying Milton wasn't as bad as it looked like it was going to be.
@@xxdesertstorm sorry to disappoint you but it was not. I happened to be in Florida witnessing all of this. If you go to the weatherman on RUclips he is very reliable if you go to NBC CNN and fox they are reliable weather stations and not Bots. They have nothing to do with an election, nor are they political. They have nothing to do with MAGA I can assure you. not sure where that came from. It's the criminals that I feel sorry for. They have spent their whole working life earning a dishonest and illegal livelihood, working all hours in anti-social conditions, and now they have just retired to enjoy the Floridian weather and bought expensive properties with their ill-gotten gains and now they face ruination. Lifejust doesn't seem fair, sometimes.
It's not just the older, retired criminals that I feel for but, also, the current ones building promising careers. It seems all those opportunities and career paths will be lost, and they can not even claim compensation for loss of potential earnings. I just we could help Tony Three Eyes Pizzicato and his pals from South East London,England
As bad as it is we could have seen so much worse
They aren’t showing how bad it actually is
Are there any manufacturer homes damaged
I'm sure most of them are heavily damaged. They're just not built for a Cat 3 hurricane.
It’s bad but this looks like a joke compared to NC
This doesn't look like the big deal it was made out to be 😒
You sound disappointed.
This is just a TINY part of Venice. What about the trailer parks where thousands of elderly people live? What about the rest of mainland Venice and not the island?
good question. Are these gulf front places? Was that Bogey's with water up to the windows? I hope not - that's my watering hole.
Was that a stranded dog at around :30?
So how much of this damage was from Helena from two weeks ago
44.8%
no it was not the vast majority was from last night nice try bot

My brother is in Nokomis area
why not build house out of stone with flat stone roofs like in greece if you are going to live there, all those house are build from toothpicks.
No damage expert here, but having a manufactured home (or trailer) in Florida is nuts.
Does not look nowhere near as bad as helene 🤷♂️
How did you get drone footage from an area with a TFR? Sounds like someone is getting in trouble...
There's no TFR in place over Venice, FL.
I’m so sad
Those homes are newer

yes - thankfully it ran into a stationary front sitting over Tampa and began to unravel. The surge to the south was still pretty bad, though.
No it was a Cat 3.
@@SuzanneBaruch Cat is assigned by sustained wind speed. Highest recorded at landfall was around 90 mph. Official NWS sites shut down their wind speed records on the site (as usual) at landfall. Not sure why they do that, but they usually do.
Disasters are a party of life. they also give alot of job opportunities to fix it all back up :)
Oh yea and totally ignore the fact A LOT of people lose their lives in these disasters. You are a brainless moron.

So the countless and perhaps millions of thoughts and prayers DIDN'T stop the hurricane? I'm surprised - that's usually so effective. I must say that I did see a lot of prayers posted WITHOUT including thoughts - that's probably why it didn't work this time. I imagine, though, that we CAN rely on thoughts and prayers to take care of the cleanup and recovery. In Thor's name we beseech Thee.
