- At least 150 people have been killed in clashes between the Meitei and Kuki ethnic groups that have engulfed India’s north-eastern state of Manipur, on the border with Myanmar.
The violence broke out in Churachandpur, a town just south of the state capital Imphal, on May 3, following a Kuki-led tribal solidarity march in ten of the state’s sixteen districts. As the Meitei organised counter-protests and blockades, clashes spread across Manipur.

Factual error: most conversions in North East took place after 1947 under Nehru as his tribal policy was formulated by a Christian missionary Verrier Elvin.
And the Kuki tribe was not brought by any RAJA......but they voluntarily travelled from Yunnan province of China to the Chin province of Myanmar, and the significant amount of the Kuki tribal people came to Manipur !
Verrier Elvin saved tribal population of north east India otherwise in present date they would have been a small minority in their own lands by the outsiders.

Dear Mahipal Sir, thank you so much for covering our issues however I would like to request you one thing that is please kindly say government of Manipur, it is not meitei government. We never say mainland government though government of india is dominated by mainland indians. It's all about number game in indian politics so please don't refer government as a particular community's possession.
Manipur government is not a State government for Manipur but metei government for meitei constites of 40 MLAs. State police became meitei police even all authority become favour of meitei

You orthodox meitei who are originally Sanamahism but claimed as hinduism and now demanded for seperate sovereign country within India should know that you meitei never going to achieve. Kuki became scapegoat under meitei plan.

And you do not cover a very important but forgotten community of Manipur and that is "bishnupriya manipuri".
And the reason you do not cover that community is because it is the most peaceful community in entire northeast with zero track record of any insurgency or terrorist groups originating from this community.
I know many of them here in Tripura, they're very peaceful

For someone who is from outside the state and covering @ such in-depth is much appreciated. The sub tribes within Nagas & Kukis do not even have same dialects..eg the Tangkhul Naga or Rongmei Naga, Liangmei, Paite. But overall unbiased and good analogy....with precision on even the Meiteis not originally being Hindus and section of them still follow their traditional Sanamahism etc. Kudos

I am also a tribal from northeast and I think U speak facts and don't incite like some do even from unacademy. What I see in this conflict is that the political elite mafias are reaping the benefits and these our these 2 tribes have foolishly fallen into the trap. I hope after things return to normalcy my tribals will become wiser. Ps same conflict over ST status was about to happen in Arunachal before it happen in Manipur and that was created by the political elites. Divide n rule policy never disappears.

There’s is no longer ban in Indian clothing,Hindi movies and music it was an issue in the late 90s and early 2000s… but drug and alcohol ban is still there even with that it’s the most affected area with drugs in the entire north East…

Constitutional fault itself is responsible for Monipur crisis . Constitution plays discriminating role among the citizens . SC ST Reservation system should be abolished. Castism tribalism groupism should not be encouraged . Meiteis should not be deprived of hill and jungle area of Monipur . Need constitutional ammendment first . Illegal immigration should be stopped. NRC should be implemented. UCC should immediately be enacted .
