What you mean by "we don't think we are Indian"? Just because u serve in Nagaland doesn't give you the right to make a baseless judgement on us. I just came back from my Solo Trip to Nagaland today, stayed there for good 10days and honestly I was not aware about any of this..I would like to mention that all through out my travel of north eastern states, Naga people were the most friendly and helpful, they even called me for dinner and people also showed me around their villages happily.
I remember once my Naga friend, Khampai (who I met on this trip) shared how bad he feels when some north Hindi speaking people discriminates against him or calls him my different names. I there and then apologised to him with all my heart and now in this comment section I’d like to apologise again to all the Nagas 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I am from Assam and my dad, being a State Bank of India employee, was posted in a place called Jalukie in Nagaland. There, I came in contact with Naga locals. They are lovely people and very honest and innocent. They also presented Naga shawls to us while we were leaving. I still have my shawl with me. It's beautiful and so warm. Even after 19 years those childhood memories are warm and pleasant in my heart ❤️. I so hope everyone in India shuns their prejudices and stays together in harmony.

I am from karnataka and I feel the problem is that Indian media and television does not portray north eastern people and southern people properly. Why do elite mainlanders get pissed of when we north eastern ask for representation?? We north eastern have compromised a lot for your indian nationalism... We just want representation and full autonomy and power in our land... We want to have our own constitution, own flag, own system, own anthem, own language and everything of our own...
Just answer me.. Why should I bow down yo flag which was there from before even before my state decided to be part of india?? Why should I sing anthem which doesn't even bother to utter a single word for my land?? Why should I cheer up for so called national team which doesn't even have one of my people?? Why should I learn your hindi language?? And why should I identity from imposed indian identity?? India is just 73 years old.. So is indian identity...
We north eastern have slowly started realising all these things....
And we are not anti national if we want to have separate nation for us... I want sikkim to break away from india so that we will have representation in global stage... I just want to undo those things which my ancestors were compelled to do so...
Just wait for few decades... If we don't get equal representation in india. We will destroy india for once and all...

My mother and I have been called racial slurs in public and my looks have been fetishised as if I'm an object (eg. a guy saying this right in front of me while staring me down "inn logo ke saath sone mei alag maza aata hai" and few other things I'm uncomfortable reiterating). India should stop being sanctimonious and look into the fact that we are not related in any aspect of life, be it cultural ethics, physical features, language barrier, fooding habits, and so. And, I, therefore, as a Naga, will never be eager to be an Indian. Also, forcing your soldiers into an unwelcomed area and labelling the individuals rebelling against the invasion as "Terrorist" is an irony at its peak.

I fell in love with NE the first time I visited Upper Assam, Khasi hills and Dimapur. Pure air, Pure food-water, Lush green paddy fields, water bodies, variety of birds and innocent hardworking people. It heals me in and out every-time I visit NE. Think it reminds me of my childhood home environment in Himalayan tarais. Even being from the so called mainland northern belt, growing up I was fortunate enough to inculcate the knowledge what unity in diversity means. Maybe because I was very interested and good in geography since early childhood. Shows like traveller, lonely planet on Discovery. I was aware of the world and people who may look different but can still be the same at heart and spirit. I remember my K.G school teacher being a Nepali with whom I used to share nimkis everytime I got it for lunch. She loved it. I cannot say for sure how did it come in me.. but I am always curious and glad to know the vivid culture and people and due respect for their way of life. Proto-Australoid , Negritos, Mongoloids, Mediterraneans, Nordics.. whatever may be the race they made this land their home and came together to make this nation. It’s our responsibility to keep it that way, pluralistic and not going for the ‘ you don’t look Indian’ mindset. Have heard people calling names and hated it because I knew what they were doing looked cool to them in front of their buddies. without knowing the fact that the guy they were calling momo, chotu would hand them their asses in football. Would complete a tough trek in a quarter of the time they would take and brag about on Instagram. An ASI ticket counter outside taj mahal demanding foreigner’s rate from them as they don’t looked Indian enough to them or spoke the same language. All detrimental to the very idea of India - unity in diversity.
EDUCATE and RESPECT. Our textbooks needs chapters on Rani Gaidinliu, Lachit Borphukan, Yaoshang, hornbill, Losar…. and much more.

@@narsingmalba7706Answer 1. You might know how we nagas treat tourists from neighboring states. Just watch those tourist videos and you will know. Infact, Nagaland is the safest state with lowest crime rate in India. Yes, we have slurs, but we do not use them frequently. These slurs came into being when the indian army invaded naga territories from 1955 onwards, my village was one of them which were attacked. The indiam army raped children, women, killed children, burned villages and so on causing hatred to rise among the hearts of nagas which led to slurs and terms being used.
Answer 2. There has not been no such area where "Militants" as you mainlanders call, have been prevalent. They have set up in every part of Nagaland, you will find almost all naga families having ties with the naga army because they are aware of the blood that was shed in the name for a sovereign Nagaland. The locals were the one who helped the naga independence army by giving food, shelter and money to buy arms in the early years. These days many greedy leaders have formed wicked groups in the name of Nagaland, but they actually formed it for money but still there are many true leaders and we support them.
Answer 3. In the early years such as 1952, the whole Nagaland boycotted general elections, yes, the first general election was boycotted by nagas. As of today, many gatherings have happened where students, youths have taken part in the name of unity and sovereignty of Nagaland. Insurgency is when the country's people take up arms against the nation, but nagas never took arms against Nagaland itself, but against an invader i.e. india. Thank you for asking. I hope this helps.

I must say, they are really hardworking and dedicated people. Being an introvert, I don't feel that much comfortable with people, but working with them I made some good memories.

It's simple, we Nagas are not Indian by blood,by culture,by religion,by geography.
Asking for Greater Nagalim was totally logical and fact because we Nagas inhabited all in that particular area including Myanmar. But the government of India at times used dirty politics, muscle power and money to divide us.
In 1963 declaration of Nagaland state should have include all the inhabitants Naga people in the state of Nagaland. Perhaps the problem would have been solved now.

That friend also told me that insurgency is one thing, but fighting Indian Army, which is probably the largest standing Army, is next to impossible. Most don't even think about it anymore.
Also that friend told me that even if Greater Nagalim became a reality, it would be a land locked state and rival Naga tribes would just fight for dominance, pushing the entire region into civil war. So most young Nagas want to become part of Indian union.

U want to know y north east is underdeveloped bt the question should we y assam is developed except tribal areas and y other north east states is not ? U will get ur answer and the answet is they don't allow central govt for development there humko rail line ni chahiye ap hatao humein alag drsh chahiye inn sab mein pista kon h jo force mainland india se udar work karne jati h for example koi company gayi construction ki udar kaam karne central ne alloct kya 20 cr ka kaam for example rebel group would demand 15 crores which would be not possible for any company to give them so they would kidnapped their manager, engineer, contractor and they will killed them if they don't give .infact local teenagers are doing all this too that's y development is not possible I don't know y indian govt is tolerating them they r not Indians and neither they r allowing indians to remain their peacefully . Infact police and all won't do anything in such states condition of north indians are way more worse than u can ever imagine

I had a very good friend from Nagaland. He had come to Study here in South India. There is just too much discrimination here due to Racial Difference (Not a Common Race here, But we Indians are multi Racial, Im Kokan-Draveda Mix myself). We connected through English and Loved Playing Video Games together (He was very sharp in Competitive Gaming). But Sadly very few Locals mingle and include them in their friend circle. As a result they would mostly hangout with their own groups and would have a blast in Naga. Our College would even allocate funds to Celebrate their Culture Once a Year. I enjoyed watching their Dance Styles, Their Fashion, And Boy they look superb in Cosplays. I would really want to visit Kohima and their Japanese Manga Cosplay Fests.
English is spoken by everyone if they cant speak Hindi or Local Languages, Please do not discriminate and talk to them about their cool culture. Their Food and Culture is very unique. He Loves India, and calls himself a proud Indian. I was shocked how far his home was. We were not in the same Class, but still would connect through special Classes and occasionally on holidays.
These people love India and Want development in their Area and want Flags of India everywhere. I hope the Govt. Provides them good infrastructure and roads for every tax they pay. (Yeah they dont evade taxes, its against their principles). If the Govt. Does justice with Development and Simultaneously Preserves their Natural Forests. They love Nature, they worship peaceful Nature.
And their Cusine might throw some people off, But I am an Athiest and am willing to adjust to any culture, even if I dont follow it. Their way of Cooking is nice and tasty.

@kusholhumedeo7851 2023 already. Grow a brain. What will this landlocked state of ours grant us after independence? Mass starvation? Also I realised that we have nothing of value to export. How will we bring in the foreign currency reserve to import essentials viz oil, electricity, food, clothing etc? I don't wanna go back to wearing one loin cloth barely covering my private parts alone. Also I don't wanna go back to hunter gatherer lifestyle. Very soon we will have dispute among tribes to be the ruling class in so called greater Nagalim. Ever heard of what happened in Bangladesh and Myanmar? They had military coup first thing after independent. People with guns will rule over us. Naga independence is just an ideal with no rationality. Also with all the imports and lack of reserved currencies, the newly set up government will start printing money like papers. Next thing we know, inflation will skyrocket. Mass migration will take place, and from former Indian to refugees we will become. Thanks but no thanks. I'm fine being an Indian and being an Indian will not make me lose my identity as a Naga. I have nothing to lose being an Indian because our constitution safeguards my identity and ethnicity.

A lot of our north eastern states are motivated by separatist ideologies. As an assamese I have seen this phenomenon. You know the separatists mainly focus on the difference in the lifestyle from the mainland India. Difference in morals and ethics. Britishers have a role in it by imposing their colonial mentality to separate our people. Also religious conversions by the britishers added fuel to the fire. Mizo themselves aren't a single tribe, but a nation of various tribes who speak their own languages, but what binds them together is the belief in a common origin and similar languages while Bru and Chakma are entirely different people.
Some Chakma people were indeed immigrants from Bangladesh, especially those who were displaced by Dam projects in East Pakistan.
