I love this tup - thanks. I used to suck at these sorts of missions, relying on the srv or misssiles launched from my ship to get rid of the guards. But using a hab building or room as a choke point is genius. In one I had to open the door for the guards as none of them had the right permissions to get into the building, even after I had broken in - good old AI !
Great tutorial, combat zones also work to increase combat and mercenary rank. I do not know if one is faster than the other at this moment but depending on the person either one will likely work.
The System used in this video is Iah Bulu , due to background mechanics settlements will enter states of shutdown for a short time due to player interaction and faction states , when this state activates check the local system for a settlement that is Anarchy and when landing if its active look for a detached hab building , most of the time they are single access buildings with 2 med packs , a recharge port/pack box and an ammo box . Any system will work with this, as long as it is anarchy you will not get fines and it will not harm the faction rep ether for some odd reason.
Actually repeating and relogging to loot or download data even in anarchy settlements will decrease your standing with the faction, because you are killing them and every kill means a standing decrease, but a slower pace than doing conflict zones or massacres missions. To prevent that and ending hostile with the faction you are looting it's settlement, you need to take missions from them first to start with a high reputation to be able to loot more. No need for extreme measures, only a few reputation missions and watching your progress bar and when unfriendly with them, repeat. Also, this method of increasing your mercenary rank is very slow. The fastest one is taking high intensity on foot conflict zones. Of course they are hard and with Enforcers now, even harder, but the mercenary rank is lighting fast. In a week or two, depends on the pace of gameplay time, you can do defenceless -> Elite I or II. To be able to fight in high CZ, G5 gear is required but can be done in G3 too as lots of items preengineered seem to be scattered around stations. o7
Thank you for the detailed information , the only bit i would have to disagree with is the killing of anarchy faction npc's , as I am not looting the Power Regulator or running any missions during this activity to undermine the factions standing , Out of interest to check I just went to check my local rep after only doing the settlement killing , I shall add a screen shot of what it showed me . drive.google.com/file/d/1LFngLqWpsX4Dj7XA3a5_GG0FNWmqn62G/view?usp=sharing . If I was to do this killing run in a system that was not an anarchy system then I would expect a drop in my faction standing as I would be getting a fine with each kill, but as the activity is only carried out in an anarchy settlement it bypass's this as there is no crime .
@@StewiePlaysPC For clean faction, for each kill you get a bounty. The ratio of notoriety on foot was added after Update 6 and while was not mentioned by Frontier, it is at about 4 - > 1 point. Anarchy factions have no bounties for players on foot, but there can be bugs though. And Frontier made BGS dynamic and state can change for any faction. Or lockdown which is real nasty for a faction. Even if you don't undermine the faction, at some point you can loose that settlement as they will engage at sight if you end up hostile. Anarchy factions are almost impossible to earn rep from hostile. I am saying this also for anyone that seeks data downloads from tourist settlements or industrial ones for engineers. Avoiding getting hostile at sight is best. Rep missions, only a few will up you with them and then you can continue downloading. Frontier gameplay approved :D Happy hunting :) o7
@@deio977 Better yet, for data downloads, don't kill at all, there's no need. The data you need for unlocks (except smear campaigns) is not alarmed, so just walk into the bar, check its port, then sneak into the habs to check their ports. The only difficult tourist settlement I've found is the rather big one with 2 small habs (easy entry), 2 medium (need level 1), and two big habs (dorms + cabins). The settlement with the power center at one end and habs at the other seems to have only the one port in the bar, so it's just in-and-out (but the probability of getting something is low). Also, it's great practice for covert theft and even covert heist.
ive just got into this but arise mine is now in a conflict zone so you cant use it. mind you i have had fun at other sites . and got my ass kicked a few times o7
Hi Pie-O-My , i don't remember seeing them alter this in past patch notes so i think it still works as shown, I will have a run through it once I am back home to be 100% sure.

Located in the Iah Bulu system, at the moment Aria's mine is powered down but any anarchy settlement with a single door that can be held will do . as long as an ammo box is close to hand most anarchy settlements will do.
The point of it is , this provides a safe calm paced alternative for players who don't want the faster paced combat of run and gun settlement battles. Not all players who bought Elite when it first came out played first person shooters .

A handy thing to also do when setting up is to over load the door so it will always stay open .
Hey Stewie, quick heads up. We're featuring your channel and Odyssey tutorials in the news today. o7
I am lost for words, thank you so much for the feature , honestly stunned and can only think thank you . o7
