    Somethings broke
Mining, bounty’s and missions are not paying the full amount.
I should have got 290mill for a mining run and it even said the profit is 290mil
    It only gives me 195mil
Same is happening by with missions and bounty’s

Do you have npc's hired as crew ? even if the are set to inactive they will each take a % of your sales/payout's as that looks to be about a 32-33% loss.

Great and informative ! On my second watch 😃
Putting the text, explaining about the drop down box, helped clear up what was happening there !
Your advice on working out the value of the commodity is good, something I'll start doing *before* accepting missions now 😊
I think I have been in too much of a rush in trying to gain credits - slowing down, being more thoughtful and thorough seems to be the way forward.
Why would someone want fleet carriers to be deselected?
I've a long way to go in understanding this!
But your videos are helping sir 👍
So, here is my rough/beginning plan of action for trading, along with some questions which are floating around in my 'thought-space' (empty head...🤣) :
    1) Search for / find / decide on a system.
I am still not sure on how to choose a system to use as a trade base?
Is any populated system viable to start in?
Will all systems provide the full 50 million missions, on a consistent basis?
Are there indicators of if a system will be more consistent and or more profitable?
    2) Check the often traded commodities whilst building up reputation to allied.
Donations and courier missions seem quite good for this speed wise?
    3) Buy minerals / metals for missions rather than mining them?
Seems to be quicker to buy than to mine, but I wonder if it is more or less time/credit efficient?
Would greater mining profits overtake the smaller buy/sell profit margins?
    4) Keep doing the loop until credit balance is greater than need/desire .... 🤪
    What do you think?
    Am I overthinking it? 🧐

Hi 1heUndertaker , thank you for the kind words.
I tend to filter out fleet carriers from the listing as it is rare that a player is ever selling what I need at prices that make it worth the run, and they are not a stable market for me to promote them to other players as they can lock out docking by setting access to private at any time , and they do not refresh stock in the trade markets every 15mins.
When it comes to selecting a system, beyond selecting a healthy size system population "my personal thought is 15million people need more than 100k people, it made sence to me that F Dev would of built it this way so I ran with that from the start, I will test this in detail later on to be 100% on this but its not failed me to date. " I have not seen much in the way of one system being better than another once you factor in the rng side of missions appearing on the board. Some systems may favor set commodity types, but it is all down to reputation for what pay reward bracket you get access to.
Donations and courier missions are indeed the best for fast reputation as they are there 90% of the time , also look for the missions asking you to ship the factions cargo to another station the pay can be a nice 5+ mill with no out lay for early on players , just check to see if its normal or a wing mission, as moving 5000 units of something for a new players in an 80t cargo bay may get soul crushing lol . the 125 tun missions are far better for retaining sanity.
Mining v/s Market did also have me wondering what would be best at the start too. But given that some days if the mission board is slow and not offering much to stack I can just do a local single jump buy up what I need in one ship and jump back in under 10mins, and clear 40million after my buying costs, I soon passed on the thought of mining as in reality I would need to spend 30mins to 1 hour mining out one type of ore and still need to then move and repeat in the next ore type hot spot and store/hand in between.
Not all ores/minerals can be bought from stations , and its for this reason that I focus on ones like Tritium Indite and the such .
My advice for how long to grind out one credit making activity is set small goals and rotate it with something fun, when mining was king and Borran was the LTD center of the know universe the allure of billions was great but mining burn out did hit hard and the activity lost its charm for me. I mainly look to credit farming as what do i need to cover my outgoings this week/month and try to mix things up as much as i can.
If you do get a fleet carrier I would say they will have an active in game role when used in this that is beyond its normal mobile hold all my ships function.

      @@StewiePlaysPC Wow !
Honestly this is *GOLD* star help and advice!
You have shared so much experience here, I'm grateful for your efforts.
Thank you as well for the time it has taken, and the thoughtfulness of your response 🙂
You are right i think, with regards to the setting of smaller/staging goals.
I do enjoy the exploration aspect of Elite.
On foot missions are an occasional interesting and fun activity, and can provide opportunity to sit back and observe planets etc by using the external camera.
Some beautiful places have been discovered whilst on missions.
However, I generally only do the courier/retrieval type, with zero threat 😊
Robigo passenger runs have been a reliable means of credit generation, but can become a little tedious after more than a couple of hours.
The larger paying passenger sightseeing missions seem completely mad to me! 20,000ly + journeys .... 😮‍💨
And yet, once I have some financial security, they do appeal to me on the basis of being a marvellous adventure !
I also think I'm going to try and learn more about using the in-game map, to search out trade routes too.
There is a great lack in my understanding of how to use the galaxy map for anything other than travel.
Particularly thinking of trying to find out how to see commercial trade/commodity routes only, excluding other commanders.
Maybe there are some lucrative trade possibilities which can be found by following the commercial (in-game) pilot routes?
Anyway, thank you again sir 😁
      Til the next one !
